Just started playing. My buddy loaned me a bunch of army books and made me pick. Now here I am working on my first ogre Army!
Welcome to the stronghold buddy! I'm sure you can find plenty of helpful advice for modelling, basing, painting, army lists, and hundreds of other things if you take a quite look around the forums. If not, you can always start a new thread! (In the correct area of course  :P)

If you have access to a camera or something, feel free to take pictures of your army as you progress and set up your own Gnoblog! It's always fun seeing someone's work progress, and the feedback from the more experienced members is second to none :)
