Conogre's Army 2.0

original thread ↗

Hello Fellow Ogres!

Most of you probably know me, and if you haven't... Im ConOgre. Feel free to address me within my blog as Connor, it really doesn't matter.  This is my second gnoblog to date, my first is lost in the warp now unfortunately.
This however is not a bad thing!! I took a almost year long hiatus from painting and have returned to the stronghold now, even with shady doubts of the looming 9th edition. My gnoblog now will be showing my continuing progress of my ogre army and other GW works, guided tutorials, youtube supplements and more!

Thanks for stopping by my gnoblog, feel free to comment and browse my youtube page for some (perhaps?) useful information!

I will Post pictures of my existing army to date slowly over the week, and continue with some ongoing projects!

Currently I am working on a Mournfang rider for the challenge that GH and I are doing.

I wrote a long and what I thought was pretty funny story, but it is lost in the warp now. So as of right now I will only give my mournfang heroes name

:maw:Paunch-Root Potbelly, Plumpest of his name :maw:

As of right now I have completed base coats on both my rider and his vicious steed, I will be completing paunch relatively soon, then continue with the mournfang in days to come :)

Basecoat on my mournfang beast.  I try and start with light colours, so the wash will darken, then re highlight with original. THEN highlight with new colours.

Seems to always work for me!

Fur: Mournfang brown
Skin: Steel legion Drab
Bone,Teeth,Tusk: Rakarth flesh
Metal: leadbelcher
Leather: Rhinox hide

No washes yet, but ill be using half and half of Nuln oil and Brown wash I imagine. On the fur that is, everything else will be determined by colour.

Someone with a keen eye may notice the Skaven HQ in bottom right. I have decided to put some base coats on him as I think I want to do a battle scene between it and belegar since I happen to have both models. So the cheeky rat has some paint now

Well I'd best be the first in to comment on the new blog.  Firstly what a nightmare you've lost the old one and all that quality content!  :(  Still as per usual I look forward to seeing the great inspiring photos and videos you are infamous for on the stronghold and I'm sure its pages will swell to match my anger with the current state of Warhammer.  :)

What we have here is a completed ogre ( Paunch) and the bisect on his mournfang mount. Really not looking forward to painting the beast, i always have this worry about screwing up fur even though it always turns out fine.

Anyways, ill stop dragging my heals and get on to detailing the beast soon, or at least giving it a good dark wash.

Nice Work! I am loving the rusty shield work, it looks well battered!

I need to pull my finger out and get some more pictures of my porky protagonist up!

Awesome paint job you've done there, I especially like the gore you've done on one side of the MFC rider's club. How did you paint that metal by the way?

Thanks you farmer, much appreciated! I even did blood splatter on his arm and helmet but the camera doesn't really pick it up.

Metal is ...
-Base coat - lead belcher
-Wash with nuln oil
-Typhus corrosion is recessed areas
-Ryza rust over typhus corrosion (dry brush)
- edge highlight with runefang steel for scratches and such

All bronze and copper is just a single basecoat of chosen colour like brass scorpion
Then a single watered down application of nihilahk oxide

Excellent thanks, I'll have to give that a try. I've been experimenting with different rust techniques these days and am very indecisive about which I'd like to go for.

So, long time no post! However I have not been absent from hobbying, I have been working quite hard on man-eaters. I have finished an araby man-eater and completely based him. Only to realize I forgot his gnoblar, So i gotta go back and fix that.

Also finished up the imperial man-eater. He requires a couple more touchups and must be based, but otherwise complete.

next up, the Ninja man-eater.

I have made a couple of changes for the better IMO as well. For one I removed the 2 skulls hanging form the head wrap of the araby. I can only handle so many skulls.

Second, I have opted to not use the back swords that go on the ninja, to me it breaks up the sleekness of the model which is what makes him so unique IMO. With it off I can probably do some japanese characters on the back.

Will post pictures of completed models to date since my last post.

Looks good mate! I've also had some time away from the forum, with finishing the Master's thesis and work, so it's fun to return and see some new stuff from you and the others :D I've started going through the forum and all the new posts (especially gnoblogs), but this'll take some time :P

I'll also try to get some pictures of the new stuff that I've finished. No Ogres, I'm afraid ;)

Keep up the good work!

You seem to be challenging me for the title of Smiley Overlord with all your smileys
First crack at doing orks. Turned out okay, biggest accomplishment in my books was the freehand fire/chipping/checkers. I really need to work on the skin of the orks though. It is much different than doing ogres with flesh tones

YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/user/Connman613

Working on ghazzy slowly but surly. Have a whole wack of buggies and tracks along with a trukk to do up as well.

YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/user/Connman613

A resent dwarf, just kinda felt like doing some dwarves as they are very unique to paint.

YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/user/Connman613

This is the buggy I will be doing next, followed by my 3rd deffkopta. Note the conversions. I'm trying to bring this kit to life, as its really old and the models are way out of scale. I feel like I have done it justice

YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/user/Connman613
Incoming maneaters!

Please excuse the abysmal quality, I really should get better pictures to give them proper justice.

YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/user/Connman613
Nice seeing some variety, particularly like seeing people do Orks. I think the skin tone is great!

That Dwarf is fantastic though buddy - the highlight for me :)

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.

And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.
Thanks JJ I'll paint another tonight! It's been awhile since I've painted the stunties

YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/user/Connman613

Such glorious beards thy stunties do have, pleased with how the blonde turned out, it's a mix of zandri dust and ushabti with sepia wash

YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/user/Connman613
Nice painting! loving your dwarves
Thanks man, much appreciated.

Nice work as per usual Connor.  What theme are you leaning towards for basing the dwarfs?
