Interesting.

Can Hunters on Stonehorns join Sabertusk Packs? I did a cursory glance in the army book and nothing there seems to prevent it. Cause Swiftstriding and Vanguarding Stonehorns sounds epic! :)

It's a bit snug for space, but perhaps you could squeeze in another cat, so you potentially could have two separate  Hunter Vanguards. Maybe a couple of Ironguts less and a band of gnoblars?

EDIT: Also noticed that you have both AHW and Shield on the BSB, which I guess helps against shooting. But ogres are pretty meaty, so is it really necessary? I'd rather have a better ward save, or rather, Magic Resistance (since it can help against templates and stuff). So I tweaked it a little bit, and made a version I think I'd run if I had the models. I must point out I have an unhealthy obsession with the Thiefstone... :p

Unfortunately not. It is not in the Ogre book but it is in the Rulebook under Ridden monsters
"A character on a ridden monster cannot join other units"

Would be cool though and i think fluffy too but alas those are not the rules

I love the sound of this army, post up how it plays I want to hear more!
"Scotland, the ogre kingdoms of the real world."
I would think about switching some or all of the ironguts to ogres just so you can get more bodies on the table.

The AHW on the Bruiser is solely because I had three points leftover, and I put them there.

Re: run Bulls or Gnoblars: I don't field those. Ever. I think they're worse than sub-optimal, they're damned near useless. Besides, I don't own a single Gnoblar that didn't come off something else's sprue, and I've built all my bodies with armor or cannons (as Ironguts, Maneaters, or Leadbelchers) so I'd have to buy and paint more Ogres as Bulls to field those (and I ain't gonna). And if I wanted to paint handfuls of little dorks I'd play Empire or something.
I like it. I might drop a thundertusk for another stonehorn.

I actually like the massive blob of ironguts in this list. Normally I would frown on such an easily diverted unit, but maybe the enemy redirectors will be suffering from an acute case of mammoth to the head.

See, there's someone else thinking on my wavelength.

You make a good point about a third Stonehorn, however, if they manage to pick off the lone Thundertusk, I lose the ASL aura that comes with him - not to mention a stone thrower. I plan to flank the gutstar with the two Thundertusks, and use the Stonehorns on flanks.

Tournament is in July. I gotta acquire two more mammoths and paint all four of them before then! :)
I am really eager to hear how this is working out for you.   I love the idea.  Have you practiced with it at all before your tournament?
How did I miss this list?! LOVE IT.

Personally, I'd say fudge it and go for four Stones. I already have three...what's one more among friends? If the Midwest had a comped meta I'd be all over it.
As someone who's run the 3 stonehorn list, I'll warn you right now: put some cheap magic weapons on those hunters.  Saddest thing in the word to have that many points held in place by a spirit host or some such ethereal nonsense.

Oh, and Bulls>Ironguts any day of the week :D
