Routa's Ogre gathering

original thread ↗

Hey fellas!
Long time lurker, first time poster.

The name is Henri, Im 25 and from Finland, been to the hobby since 10 years old, but enough bout me.
I had had an idea bout making an ogre kingdoms army for years but finally I ended up buying some minis this year, so I thought that I should start a blog here.
Been hugely inspiring and fun to read and watch all the blogs round here and some of them are just awesome.
Im feeling obliged to add my progress to this real nice forum.

So,
the idea behind this "tribe" is that now that the End Times are upon us, all the rogue sellsword ogres from all over the Warhammer world have gathered together for one last big all out war.

My plan is to convert most of the ogres more or less but Im keeping a few vanilla ogres in the army too, but the main focus is having really different kinda ogres in the army hailing from all kinds of races and armies.
Im not much of a GS pro but Ill try and get better.
I got the batallion box, one set of mournfangs, x amount of gnoblars, cannon and stonehorn box.

Enough gibberish!
I've only one finished ogre to show you guys atm and my update progress might be kinda slow since I have like 10 different armies/projects going on (FaBa and 40k) but Ill post my progress here.

So first here are couple Gnoblars I painted for fun, dont know if Ill ever use them in games but w.e :)

Then we have the one actually finished ogre.
This one has been Waaaaghin' with Orcs so long that even his skin has started to turn green.
kinda minor conversion work here but I think one can definately see that hes got something to do with Orcs.
First idea was to make him like a Black Orc, hence the bigass axe and mask, but I think I shouldve added more armor.. so I guess he is just a plain Orc then.

My photo skills arent the greatest, Im still learning to use my camera.
But I hope the pics are ok :)

I have started to build an Empire and Skaven Leadbelchers  and I have plans for atleast a Zombie, Troll Slayer and Nurgle ones.
Ive built a vanilla Beastlore Butcher too, guess I could add a pic of him too, his just bashed together from different ogre boxes mainly and is more or less copied from one from this very forum

So, my first post all done yey!
Eager to hear what you guys think and if you have suggestions, improvements and ideas for me, please, feel free to tell them.

This is some really nice work here! Your painting is really crisp and the highlights on both the Gnoblars and the Orcogre are really good. The damage to his helmet also looks really well done.

I love this Orcogre theme and at one time there was an outstanding Orcogre army present on the forum. To take a look at that look for R J Payne in Gnoblogs.

I cant wait to see you do some more of this army and see what else you come up with from all the other races; love a bit of nurgle so if that one is up next on the desk, I will look forward to seeing him  ;)
Keep up the excellent work!

Thanks guys!
Ive seen his Orcogres and I think theyre ace, an army of those would be real cool.
Maybe ill end up making another orcish one at some point.. well see..
Nurgle one is more or less on the desk but Im not sure if he'll be the next.. dont really know atm which one ill try and finish next.

Love the idea and agree with the above nice paint job. Awesome to see someone using some initiative after seeing all the slating end times got for the lack of ogres. Looking forward to seeing more!!
"Scotland, the ogre kingdoms of the real world."
Really nice paint job (love the highlights and the skin tone), congrats!
Looking forward to see how your army develops!

Keep us posted!
 :)
@Crunchmunch, Thanks :) it seemed like my 'fluff' could work, whats a better way to end ones days than with own folks, bashing heads in and eating some guts while at it!

@Axtklinge , My thanks :) ill keep on updating this whenever I have something worth showing off, will have to try and get least one ogre to my to do line.

Awesome gnoblars! What colours did you use for the skin?

Thanks!
I think it was waagh flesh -> agrax earthshade -> waagh mixed with steel legion drab -> add a little rakarth flesh to earlier mix :)
Something more or less like that.

Those are some very impressive paint jobs. This inspires me to start up my Ork army! Looking forward to seeing more
Thanks for the comment, and sorry my late reply :)
Go for it shadow! I have a bunch of orcs and im really now looking forward to seeing what Age of Sigmar brings to orcs.. Atleast new names if nothing else :D
I have mixed feelings bout my ogre basing, should I go for new round bases or keep it old school :/
