First army, 1750 points

original thread ↗

Hi there fellow tyrants!
After a quite long time, i think i have (almost) get a nice army list together.
I have been bying and painting warhammer for the last 18 years, but never played much.
A few games of Mordheim and warhammer quest.
Ok! my army list, i've googled and read toi my eyes bleed and have come up with this:

General: Slaughtermaster with greedy fist, fencers blades and dispel scroll
BSB: Bruiser with HE,enchanted shield, sword of striking and talisman of endurance

6 Ogres with bellower and ironfist 202p
7 ironguts with bellower 311p
4 Leadbelchers with bellower 182p
2 sabretusks 42p
ironblaster 170p
Stonehorn 250(mostly because its just an awesome model and i spent the bether part of 2 weeks painting him)

Total of 1722p
atm i got everyting painted, just got to base a few figures, so the missing 28 points i am not sure what to do about, yet. I'm just dying to trie out my ogres:))
what do you guys think of my list? i know many make a list for each army they will face, but that will come later
Hi good list, I'd swap the scroll for glittering scales.

The 28 points you have left I would give the the ironguts a standard bearer and the standard of discipline
Thank you for the response:)
i was planing to avoid using armor on my slaughtermaster, even tho its legal i think maybe my mates at the local gaming club wouldent think it was quite cool. But i'll will bring it up.
Ok, did a few tweaks, did not go to well agains High elves, horrible dice rolling and the The Watchtower witch i had to attack dident help :D
So this is my list now:

SM with extra level, greedy fist and fencers blades.
BSB with HA, enchanted shield, sword of striking and talisman of endurance.

Core:
6 ogres with bellower and ironfists
6 Ironguts with bellower

Special:
4 mournfangs with ironfists, HA and Dragonhide banner
2x Sabertusks
Rare:
Ironblaster.    = 1748 points

Any thoughts?
Looks like a solid list.
Remember to play your sabertusks as 2 solo sabertusks, not as one unit of 2.
I would swap your BSB's build to either: HA, GW, Talisman of Preservation, Ironcurse Icon or GW, Armour of Destiny. A 4+ ward save is much better than a 3+ armour, especially if playing against High Elves with Cavalry or elite infantry like White Lions or Swordmasters.
Looks decent to me. However, maybe consider this?

- Splitting the Mournfang into two units of two as a unit of four is quite wide and you might want the extra manouverability.

- Give the Dragonhide banner to your Ironguts (I'm assuming you're putting the BSB and SM in that same unit for a gutstar).

Just an option :) Having an extra unit can means you can face down a couple of units at once, rather than have all your eggs in one basket, but of course, there's less hitting power, and they're more vulnerable.
Thank you both for the resonse :)
My sabers go solo yes, not as a pack.
I have been thinking of 2 units of 2 mournfangs, but i think i will try them as one unit for now, and then change them to 2 units if i see its to big.
Last time i put the BSB with the IG's and the SM with the bulls, should i stuff both chars in the same unit?

The BSB builds was intresting! especially as he prob end up hiting last anyway.

Thanks guys, gave me something to play with in battlescribe :)
I know its not the most competitive, but I am a big fan of the stonehorn.  And, given that you have over 200 points below 2000pts (a nice round numbered game), its an easy thing to just make the rider a Hunter.  Don't underestimate him with the Other Trickster's Shard, Dragonbane Gem, and a Great Weapon.  Or maybe the Ironcurse Icon (protect your big guy even more from pesky cannons).  There are a number of good combos out there, and the up side is that, given impact hits, a great weapon, and thunderstomp, you don't need to do all that much to give him more offensive ability, so you can focus on things to make him more survivable.

I also like running 4 MFC, but you probably don't need both.  Neither will do well against a watchtower though...the key to that game for ogres is to use your big smashing blocks/things that rely on impact hits and stomps to mop up support units outside of the tower, generally wreak havoc for the opponent, and draw attention away from the actual objective (the watchtower), then shoot the occupying unit out with massed fire and magic (firebelly is great for this).  And good luck routing the unit inside if the enemy holds it, you can win every combat, but it takes a good long time to get the enemy out.

Anyway, I think you have a good, versatile list.  The biggest thing is to keep practicing with it.
Thank you for the reply :)
I do like the stonehorn my self, but the first and only time i used him he got charged by 15 silverhelms with a BSB, i forgot about frenzy to, but i'm learning :)
I do plan to use him in 2k points.
Tomorrow i'm playing 1k in triumph & treachery, to make things go a bit faster, took about 4 hours last time, much due to having to look up rules ect quite often.
This time im going to make a cheat sheat so i got al the important stuff writen down.

I hope to get some bether dice rolls this time, so maybe my leadbealchers get of more than 7 shots^^
You gave me something to think about! thanks again :)
