How much more difficult is it to paint already assembled ogre models compared to those that are yet to be assembled? Am very much a newbie but may able to get my hands on some unpainted (but assembled models) and don't want to set myself up for problems.

Assembled pose no problems, being bigger models help.

I actually find Ogre models something of a pain to paint after assembly.
They're big and bulky certainly, but their arms and hands can get in the way of bits you need to paint.
Particularly when it comes to things like Ironguts and Leadbelchers, and the larger models especially I recommend painting in pieces.
Personally I like to leave the arms off, and any of the bulkier accessories, and paint those separate from the main body.

Painting assembled shouldn't be a major issue. Most of the really detailed areas on Ogres are accessible even when assembled. The Ironblaster may be the only model to paint then assemble. But the standard RnF should be fine.
Edited: to say "shouldn't". iPhone typo.

Its not really too much of an issue with ogres. You might miss some of the detail, but my experience with the Ironguts and Bulls so far has been that you're only really missing detail that is usually obscured anyway.
Bigger models and even the Mournfang (separate Rider from beast) would need keeping components separate, tho.

I find i struggle with models where the arms cross the chest. So Ironguts and Leadbelchers mainly. Bulls are fine as the arms are mostly out of the way.
Mournfang I've not actually done any yet but I will be doing rider and beast seperately.
Same for when i get to the more complex stuff, Ironblaster, thundertusk etc. I'll assemble them after painting.
