Take heart! (Spoilers)

original thread ↗

I have not posted on this forum in many many years. But the ET: Archaon spoilers have brought me here.

The Mods here can totally (and obviously) feel free to move the thread where they feel the thread to be more appropriate spot.

Anyway...here we go - Mind the Spoilers....

As many may know the world of warhammer has ceased to essentially exist

And because of this I know many are considering giving up the hobby. In fact I know many elf players have given up because of ET: Khaine.

But I want to post here what I posted over at Bugman's Brewery, Warseer, and Ulthuan.

We must not not let GW decide for us that the Warhammer world is destroyed! We should continue to play 8th edition with our family and friends and continue to be an active member of our forum communities!

As the Chaos Dwarf players continued their army without GW support, we must strive together as warhammer players and continue the hobby in spite of the terrible news.

I am not sure how many will listen to what I say here, as we are all individuals and can make our own choices, but I want to try and motivate all of us to not give up. We should not give up.

All of us have spent time, money, heart, soul, and mind on making our armies, writing our fluff, and painting them. Countless hours of our time spent having fun with family and friends. We should not give up simply because GW says the warhammer world is essentially destroyed.

I think together with Bugman's Brewery, Warhammer Empire, Warseer, and other Warhammer forums, we can continue the hobby. We can develop FAQs, new fluff, update armies, and so forth. We should not give up.

Perhaps this is all the ramblings of a foolish person trying to cling to the remains of a game system that is now essentially at an end. But perhaps it will motivate some.

Enough ramblings from this Dwarf for today.

Cheers and take heart!
Yeah We beats 'em daemons, want to fight about it.
Surely we should see what 9th brings before declaring the hobby to be dead and buried?
When's dinner?
Yes of course. I am just trying to encourage people who want to quit because of the new fluff results. There has been a lot of such talk and I am trying to reach out across forums and encourage everyone.

I definitely appreciate the sentiment.  I and the others I play with have already determined that we aren't going to stop playing regardless of what idiocy GW deploys, but we are all definitely past the point of worrying.

Me, personally, I hit my breaking point with the Thanquol book.  At that point, I realized that GW really doesn't care about the fluff or the game, so hey, why worry?  I've got my two armies, I still have fun with them and I can make my own stories with them.

Lizards are gone.  Why should I care?  My stuff is still here, and I get to enjoy playing with them.

Ogres are so unimportant that they decide to just remove them as their own faction (before destroying everything).  Why should I care?  I still have my ogres and the book, so I can keep playing them as much as I want.

Chaos wins and the world is destroyed.  Why should I care?  They already decided that my two armies don't deserve anything new and fun, so it doesn't really matter who wins.  GW loses, because I'm not going to buy any more of their stuff.  I'm going to keep having fun with the stuff I have.

I'm going to keep playing this (and Malifaux, which I just started and really have enjoyed) on weekends with my friends.  I don't really care what they do with the game.  If I don't like it, I will just keep playing the version that I do like.
Me and mine mate decide to play the 8the edition if 9th blows. Im a empire player and decide to join a ogres tribe as mine second army. I really enjoy the hobby and don't what to give it up because GW decide to end it.
