2500 pt heavens list

original thread ↗

Pretty standard list but any feedback back will help.

Slaughtermaster lvl4 heavens. IF, Gruts, enchanted shield, tormentors sword

Bruiser BSB with lookout gnob and Runs Maw GW and HA
Butcher tax lvl 1 Maw. Hellheart. GW
Firebelly lvl 2 dispel scroll and ruby ring GW

11 ironguts FC std of disc.

2 x4 Leadbelchers with bellow
2 x4 Mournfang with standard HA and IF
Saber
Saber
Ironblaster

This puts me at 2495 pts and I'm looking for 2500. I'm not sure what magical items I want to take outside of HH Gruts and Dispel Scroll.  The plan would be have everything centrally located with leads protecting flanks and the SM just bubble harmonic while moving forward. Thanks for any ideas.
Ironfist and enchanted shield are both shields do take one or the other.  Personally id drop them both in favor of 4++ talisman.  Your BSB does not need HA as he should always be in the second rank.  Put the lookout gnoblar on the unit instead of the BSB.  Mournfang need musicians over standards, and 1 of the 2 units should have Dragonhide banner.  Leadbelchers in 3 or 4 strong units dont really need a musician if you run them 2x2, their 6' wheel can give them as much movement as you should need.  Other than that pretty solid list.

+1 to pretty much all of this.
I made the adjustments and got my list to 2499. I couldnt fit the Dragonhide banner though. Would you say it would be wise to drop a gut and a few hero GWs for it? I just caught a misprint on my part. It's 2x2 Mournfangs not 2x4.

The fewest models I run the Dragonhide Banner is 3.  If you are running them in 2man units then they dont need a musician or standard.  Personally I like my Mournfang to fill a combat role, especially with Lore of Heavens where you don't need them to clear chaff.  More over you have quite a bit of Leadbelchers so I would group them up into a 4 man unit, with HA and IF, a musician, std and the Dragonhide banner.  To do this I would drop core to the minimum 625 and a Leadbelcher.  Another source of points is the firebelly, you have MM covered through Heavens so his role is redundant.  Even with Grut's Sickle you can run out of dice.  Also contrary to popular belief you can run without a scroll or Hellheart, you just have to get used to it.  In fact with Runemaw you can just save your dice for vortexs or augments and let all the hex, dd, and mm bounce off.
I like the idea of 1x4 Mourned With Dragon banner. its how I usually run them actually. That or with a gleaming pennant if they are gonna be far away. I begrudgingly dropped the Firebelly and bumped the butcher to lvl 2. I added a unit of gnob trappers cuz I love how scared people are of them. My butcher dropped the hell heart and picked up a dispel scroll so he has 25 points left and I'm sitting at 2400 pts now. Any recommendations to fill up at that last 100? I was thinkin maybe a gorger to serve as a 90 pt distraction.
I haven't had much luck with Gorgers.  If only he could arrive more reliably and charge turn 1...

For the remaining points you could add another Leadbelcher to each unit.  Then I'm sure you can fill out the 15 or so remaining points (maybe Bellowers due to size increase).  A Ruby Ring of Ruin is pretty nice too if your Butcher is looking to accessorize.
I really do think you need to add that 3rd Sabretusk. At this point level you cannot afford to run light on chaff

I agree that another tusk is probably wise. heres my updated list

I had 2 points left over so i gave the Bruiser AHW just cuz i couldnt think of anything else.  this puts me at 2501.

actually now that i noticed, my Core is short on points. back to the drawing board
Well as someone who considers themselves relatively experienced with running Heavens now. May i suggest you drop the level 2 and ruby ring from your butcher to get the points needed for core.

Neither are very synergetic with level 4 heavens as heavens provides the ranged attacks as does ruby ring alongside a +4 cast (6 in your case) and level 4 will use a lot of casting dice, very unlikely a level 2 will cast anything of significance

As it stands now this is what my list looks like

SM Gruts Tali of pres.GW lvl 4 heavens

Bruiser BSB runemaw GW

Butcher lvl 1 maw dispel IF

12 gnobs trappers and champ

12 guts FC std of disc

5 x leads with bellow
4x leads
4xmourns bellow HA IF Dragon

The leads would be on either side of the gut star and the mournes would go on the flank of the 4 leads.this puts my core at 626 and my pts at 2500.
One last change and it should be good.  Drop Gnoblar champion add IG Lookout Gnoblar
That is one large Gutstar, are you not concerned with lack of maneuverability?
Samurai Ogres of Nippon

The guts have gnob just forgot to put it down. And yea maneuverability may be an issue but I'm hoping the convergence bubble will help deal with anything fast.

As you may not always have convergence have you considered reducing the star to 9 strong and adding in something else; Ogre dart, another small unit of Gnoblars

So I played against a Lizardman army and barely won. I learned that temple guard are Nasty as all Hell. The decimated my charging mourned. The cannons worked pretty well. One shotted that nasty 500 point monster that is amazing in CC. My ironguts did ok and my leads were pretty useless except for a clutch redirect on the last turn.  The stars of the show were the damn gnoblars as usual. Taking out 6 warriors and lasting just long enough to hold out for the guts to charge. Heavens is a pretty good lore. Ice shard being incredibly useful and saving the guts on more then one occasion. Also, harmonic bubble is incredibly OP for a tight packed combat. He never once targeted my gutstar with magic. Probably knowing they didn't stand a chance against his temple guard. Luckily a clutch grapeshot in the end took out 7 guard and my remaining guts and heroes swept up. Definitely learned a lot today but against a tougher army I may have been wiped very quickly. All in all a fun experiment with positive results.
What 500pt monster are you talking about?

I am assuming you are talking about an Oldblood on Carnosaur?

As for the Temple guard, you never want to engage them, chaff them up and shoot them. Your guts would have been better off served fighting Saurus warriors

it was the carn.  I lucked out hardcore killing that first turn. i dont think i would have had a chance if it would have got into combat.

I would not call it luck, you have 2 Ironblasters. The odds were always in your favour to taking that out. Cannons are just that good
