Empire RPG Episode 6: The Quaint of Rordenstaff

original thread ↗

Lancelot, Anders, Cortez, Borri and Torg manage to reach Rordenstaff's city gates. The town itself is surrounded by a large stone wall, with only 1, wooden gate as entrance.
2 Imperial Guards maintain watch at the gate, each carrying large halberds. An air of cautios hostility surrounds them.

"Hmm...I have never ventured this far from home. I assume the guards would allow us entry?"
Lancelot looks around to realise that everyone is battered and bruised, with one Imperial outlaw in the team and a manical Dwarf followed by a Dwarf carrying a knight stuffed tuba.
"What do you think we should do?"

"Leave this to me, I'm sure they will grant us safe passage once they realize we are guided by Sigmar's hand" Anders replies to Lancelot

Anders approaches the Guards at the gates.

"Gentlemen good day and blessings upon you. I am Anders von Hurstmann of the Holy Order of Sigmar. My companions and I have been on the road for many days, we have been through an ordeal and are weary after performing Sigmar's work. We wish for somewhere to rest our heads and perhaps resupply. Can you allow us entry?" Anders asks politely.
With a nod, the guards open the gates.
"I assoom youse is the bunch o'ruffians whose blewn a 'ole in th' moun'ain? Ver' well. 'Ead on in. Worda warnin', don' dhrink th' wa'er, don' go t'any condenmed 'ouses an keep outta mischief!"

(OOC - You should be level 4 like me assuming we all started at lvl 1, my latest skill is for level 4 only and the previous was for level 3 only. Brainfreezer never called me out on it so I assume this is correct)

Anders decides to go to the Church of Magnus for some quiet contemplation whilst his companions conclude their dealings with the local merchants and trainers.
Anders walks down the cobbled streets. Rordenstaff is adequately populated for an enclosed town. The streets display people of poverty alongside those of modest wealth. The town seems devoid of rulling or noble class. The poeple themselves are tired looking, worn out by many unsuccessful raids done by bandits and marauders. They are skinny, but they appear to be well fed.
Anders eventually reaches the church. An oddity of architecture, it appears as ive the roof had be in line with the city walls, causing an almost squat appearance. The churhc itself looks older than most of it's neighbouring buildings. Black doors with iron fittings greet Anders.
Entering, Anders finds himself alone, spare one or two old women praying. The church is dimly lit, with only the windows supplying any light. No candles nor lanterns are lit, yet they are present. The altar is modest, with few furnishings but a book, a stone table and a stone pedastel.

Upon hearing his companions entering the Church Anders finishes his prayers and approaches them.

"I am pleased to see you hear my friends. Have you come for some quiet contemplation or perhaps to seek Sigmar's guidance?"
Lancelot gazes around the Church
"I question why no sermon is being said. Is it not time for the matinas?"

"I did think it strange this Church was empty when I arrived however I took the time to engage in quiet contemplation and prayer. Still... Something doesn't feel right. Perhaps we should investigate?"
Torg wishes to take Communion.  27.

Anders offers Torg a short Sigmarite Blessing and Prayer.

"May Sigmar be with you" He says with a smile.

Anders offers his companions the same treatment
A hush is heard from an old woman in the church. Upon closer expection of the church, a funeral was just held for a local.

Anders decides to investigate the Church to see if anything suspicious or out of place can be found.

Perception Test = 30. Success
Anders fails to find anything remarkabley odd about the church. The denizens clearly are not wealthy, for the church lacks any noticable precious metals. No priests can be seen either. The church is very quiet, as expected after a funeral.
"Anders...I don't remember passing a funeral, do you?"

"Not that I recall, I think we need to find out what's going on here"
Leaving the church, the team decide to investigate the main cobblestone road, for signs of a funeral. However, none can be found. The town is carrying on as usual.
"Right, where to next? We could check the Housing District, or maybe the Business District. Of course, for a small town, the denizens really have ample services available."

(Urge resisted  8))
The team look at one another,
"This Moorley person sounds known here, supposing we head to the Financial District? Or shall we venture to the Residential District?"
"I believe the residential district would be the most likely place to find Moorley. I think we should head there first."
The team head off West to the residential district. They pass under a large archeway, depicting mountains and the town name. The district itself is quite small, with around 20 houses there. The houses themselves are wooden, with accents of stone masonry from the local mountains. Windows dot the houses, and each house 2 stories on average. The eye is easily drawn to a completely stone house, with 3 levels and an air of supremacy over it.
The party remarks how quiet the residential district is, what with this being the working hour, however, only a scattered handful of children can be seen playing. The children themselves are slightly pale, for the district is nestled in shade by other houses.
Down towards the end of the district, is a few houses boarded up, with large red letters spralwed on their doors.
CONDEMNED
"Comdemed? Why would that area be condemned? I we should take a look"
Approaching the condemned houses, the party notice that every point of entry is boarded. Every window pane, every door and any other nook or cranny is covered by thick wooden planks. The houses themselves appear to have had some smoke damage. One house seemed to have been condemned only recently, as the paint is not as worn as the others.
"Hmm... Why could a house be condemned? Pray they be haunted or some such? And what of the inhabitants?"
It wasn't long before the party knew they were being watched. The children had stopped playing, and mothers ushered them in. An elderly woman, ghostly in her appearance approached the team,
"Yez have no business there ye don't. Now if I's was yez I'd shove off if yez know what's best."
"Fear not, I am a Priest of Sigmar and it is his hand that has lead us to this place and he shall protect those that have faith. Can you tell us what happened here?"
The old woman looks wrly at the priest,
"Tis be rot and plage in them doors. If youz go pokin abou' in there youse be sure to end up like the redt of em"
Alcohol cures everything.

"So does a little faith in the one true god Torg. This could be the work of the Plague Father. His minions were back in the prison, perhaps their influence has also spread to this town as well? Sigmar's compels me to investigate!"
"So does a little faith in the one true god Torg. This could be the work of the Plague Father. His minions were back in the prison, perhaps their influence has also spread to this town as well? Sigmar's compels me to investigate!"
So how do you aim to investigate?
Anders approaches the doors marked condemned and attempts to open them.
Gripping the handle, Anders shoves, in vain. It seems like some form of barricades hide behind the doors.
Looking up, windows are boarded up also.
Go around.  They always forget to lock something.

Torg's tug knowledge comes back to him. The team see a narrow pathway to the house's rear entrance blocked by a gate. Does the team enter or one person specifically?
Upon finding the side passage Anders draws his mace and decides to enter the premises.
Anders hilts his mace to hop the gate, then re-draws his mace. He enters into a small, perhaps a 10m squared backyard. A fence surrounds it from other houses. The grass is a healthy shade of green, thanks to the regions bountiful rain season. It is knee-hight and full of daisies and other weeds.
The back of the house is fairly similar to the front. One door, 4 windows. Each and every one is boarded up. The roof is slanted down towards Anders, with odd tiles fallen off. Barrels in the end of the yard are stacked high, almost roof height.
Outside, Lancelot decides to join him, and hops the gate.

"I'd be beaten red raw if I let the lawn grow this wild."
"Indeed young Lancelot, I've received a beating once or twice in my day for neglecting the rectory gardens. What do you suggest we do from here? There is obviously something going on."
"There seems to be some reason why a house must be condemned. How does thee fare in climbing?" Lancelot asked, pointing at the patchy roof.
"It has been a fair while since I last had to put my physical strength to the test in such a way but I believe we may just be able to scale the walls of this building. Torg what do you think?"
Noooope.

Noooope.
"Why?"
(Torg, do try and give reasons to speed up the decision process)
(I really don't want anyone trying to climb a condemned building in full view of everyone.  Most likely the guards will come shoot us because this place is quarantined.  Also my strength value sucks so I'd probably fall.)  I'm throwing rocks at the boarded up windows and seeing if that gets anyone's attention.  55.

(OOC - Can't say that I have. Anyhoo, let's get this back on track)

Anders not hearing or noticing anything out of the norm  after Torg's done throwing rocks decides to scale the outer walls of the building to see if he can climb in through a window.
Scaling the walls, Anders reaches a rotted patch. He may be able to break it, if he does not lose his balance. It might be dangerous to progress if the higher areas are rotted.
Lancelot surveys the yard and a brainwave strikes,

"Comrades, those barrels might provide ample elevation to reach heights."
"Lancelot, I'm already up here. I might as well try and gain entry from where I am" Anders calls out. He attempts to break his way through the rotten timbers with his mace whilst hanging on with his other hand.

(OOC - Is there a test required? I assume Strength for smashing the wall or maybe Agility to see if I fall?)
Exactly. Take an Agility test at -20 (You don't have Deft Climber) and a Strength test +20 (for the mace).

(OOC - You just want me to fail this don't you! ;) )

Agility Test = 59... Welp!
Strength Test = 5 .... Awww come on! That's what I needed for the Agility Test!  :x
(Not necessarily but....I.....ahm.....Rocks fall and everyone dies  :P)
Anders delivers a powerful blow to the wall, and with such a force, falls into the house itself! Lancelot and Torg realise this, and quickly go to stack barrels after recovering from their laughter.
Anders looks up.The interior is not too old, maybe 6 months unkept at most. The air was heavy, and had a distinct sting to the back of your throat. The house was silent. Anders stood and received his bearings. He was standing at the end of a hallway, 2nd floor. Straight on was a door at the opposite end, a left turn and the stairs to the right.

Anders tries to gather some of his dignity back and dusts himself off. He clips his mace to his belt and decide to explore the premises. He starts by heading left.
Turning left, a boarded up window blocks most light here. There appears to be 2 doors on this mini-corridor, one on either side.
Anders decides to open the left door.
Anders opens the door slowly to a creaking sound. Peering in, it is a small room that contains nothing but a bed, a wardrobe and a beeside drawer. There is a small window, covered by boards and curtains. The dust is quite thick in this room, and the odour is foul.
Recoiling at the stench of the room Anders decides to leave it and check the room on the other side of the coridor.
I try having a positive attitude about this situation.  79.  I I use my second action to try and drink away my despair.  56.

(Sorry for the delay guys, had exams for two weeks, but now....
I'M FINISHED)

Opening the door on the right proves a struggle. Anders may attempt to break down the door at the pass of a Strength test.
Torg drinks a bottle of drawf ale. He nods to Lancelot, but imagines the scolding Capt. Stormgale would give him for breaking his lad's kidneys, and returns to being positive.
Giving up on the door Anders decides to head downstairs and find the rest of his group so they can lend a hand searching the building.
Lancelot and Torg finally make their way into the house, by climbing their now sizable mountain of barrels. They rendezvous with Anders, who decides to descend downstairs. Lancelot and Torg have the opportunity to investigate some more if they choose.
Lancelot accompanies Anders down the stairs, a creaky and slow descent to avoid collapse. WHilst the building itself is strong structurally, wood lice have been known to make their homes in desolate houses. The pair enter a large room, with sheet over the furniture. DUst hangs heavy here, and the light only shines in two, distinct rays on from the window. Their is the exit to the front door, and the back of the house yet to see.
Anders decides to look for the back of the house.

"There must be something of use here. I'll check the back"
Anders steps into the back of the house. A room it appears, that served as a kitchen, with it's large, sooty fireplace. The dust is heavy here, blackened by ash. A scorched, tattered cloth lay on the ground. The stone floor echoes ominously throughout the hollow house. A back door makes entry from the garden possible, and what appears to be a cellar door lies in the middle of the floor, locked with a rusty padlock. It has not been opened in a very long time by the looks of it.
"Something must have happened here to have caused this place to be condemned."

Anders notices the cellar door is locked. He yanks at the door handle to no avail. He decides to break the lock open with his mace to gain entry to the cellar.

(Strength Test = 78  :|)

"Not budging hmm? Stay and here and persist in your attempts, I will search upstairs for a key."
Anders not one to walk away from a challenge tightens his grip on his mace, with both hands he brings the mighty weapon down upon the door repeatedly in an attempt to smash his way through the door or lock, at this point he cares not which gives way first.

Strength Test No. 1 = 22 Woot!
Strength Test No. 2 = 79 Seriously!  :x

Anders lunges downward towards the cellar, the force of his swing hurling him down the rotten ladder. The cellar floor feels damp, and the air extremely dirty.
It is pitch black. The only sound is Torg's hearty laughter at Ander's face upon impact.
I'm going downstairs to see if Anders is ok.  If not, I look through his pockets for loose change.

Torg ventures down the creaky wood rotten ladder. He picks Anders up off his feet, and dusts him down, well dusts his waist down. The dank basement cellar is quite dark, the only port of light being the ladder and above.
"Gentlemen, fear not the dark. For I, carry my wick and my wax, and with it, light our path to the stars. That's one of the hold battle hymns my father sang."
From his coat, Lancelot produces a lantern, and lights the candle inside. The embers cast decent light into the basement. By size alone, it is the size of the entire floor. The walls are stone, and apart from the numerous cobwebs, appear normal. The ground is covered with dirty, possibly soiled cloths and clothing materials. Over to the right of the basement is covered in darkness
(OOC - Sorry for being absent for a while, getting married tends to take up a fair amount of time! ;) )

Anders ventures off to the right of the room to have a look around... "Sigmar is with us, the darkness shall not harm us so long as we are shielded by our faith"

Anders ponders for a second, and ventures to the right of the room. There are 4 crosses stuck in the floor, with a shovel placed earnestly against the cold, dark wall. Earth mounds suggest 3 adults or large bodied people, with the 4th being a more compact one.

Contemplating preemptively lighting everything on fire.

Anders looks at Torg sensing he might be up to his usual pryomaniacal antics. He considers the potential outcomes of allowing this for a moment....

Anders looks Torg square in the eyes and gives a silent but assuring nod of approval.
If you can find something to set on fire, then you can.
Anders searches the area for anything out of the norm, useful or potentially flamable

Perception Check = 98.... NOPE!
Lancelot ponders the cause of the family's death, whilst Anders and Torg attempt to set the floor on fire
There are clothes everywhere, so we could at least light up the room briefly.  Also I am taking a mental note that the staircase should go up like a Roman Candle if (when) we need to flee for our lives.

FIRE!!!!!!

To the tune of this:

(OOC - I'm not really sure what's going on here, things seem to have stopped in their tracks, perhaps a little nudge from the GM could help us out?)
(Their are 4 bodies in 4 graves under a house. Perhaps they might be interesting? Of course, you could burn the house when you go outside, it is made of wood.)
(OOC - Do we know about these graves yet? I don't recall ever seeing anything about that.)
Anders ponders for a second, and ventures to the right of the room. There are 4 crosses stuck in the floor, with a shovel placed earnestly against the cold, dark wall. Earth mounds suggest 3 adults or large bodied people, with the 4th being a more compact one.
So you know there are things buried, most likely bodies. Cause of Death is unknown, and would require an INT test to glimmer information from the graves.

When did you work with a corpse?
Torg hovels up the first corpse, and denotes that is indeed dead.
Anatomy and Physiology.  Spent a good 4 months with one.  In that time I did learn that he was indeed dead.  And what people look like on the inside.
Torg has no idea how to properly cremate a body, so there goes that idea.

You can also specialise what you're looking for, so you get a +10 bonus (+20 if you have a Skill in the area)  but you can only discover what you looked for, no more.
Anders decides to investigate the burial site for clues.

Int Test. 17 & 49. One success one fail.
There are 4 visible heaps of earth, each one progressively larger then the next. The earth is interupted by a shovel nearby, which was most likely the shovel used to bury them.
The first mound is as long as Anders' body, the second would be slightly longer than Lancelot's, the third about the same height as Torg, and the 4th being smaller than all the rest.

"Lads, could this be....the family's grave?"
"T'would appear so Lancelot. I think we should unearth the graves to investigate further."
He turns to Anders and Torg, looking pensive,
"Unearthing the graves is a plausible idea, but is it not a sinful shame for an agent of Sigmar?"
We already have breaking and entering, trespassing and probably arson on our list of crimes.   You can sanctify the graves after we rebury them.  That is if these graves are filled with something other then a vampire or bunch of nurglings.
You shall fear the warppuppies for the warppuppies have teeth and are hungry, and forsooth they have decided that thy are crunchy and taste good with ketchup
Lancelot pauses, and then nods in agreement. The men use the rusted shovel to carefully hollow out the mounds. A slip is made and a sound, akin to a wet sponge being torn apart. The first mound, followed by the second, until each and every mound is unearthed to reveal 4 dead corpses.
Their flesh is a sickly yellow, clinging to the rotting bones in their bodies. Maggots fester in open holes, and their clothes are torn, ravaged for some reason. The shovel punctured the ribs of the man, who might have been in his 40's, or his 60's. On closer inspection of every skull, a small hole can be seen, neat and square in the forehead.
The child's body is embalmed, perhaps it was buried first. The 3rd person is now un-identifiable as a male or female, as the forces of decay have ravaged it.

"Give me assisstance in unwrapping the child please,"
3 people unwinding wrappings on a small body reveal a horrid sight. The child's skull has only one slot for an eye, dead centre in the head. It's belly is bloated, but largely intact.
"This child...is tainted by Chaos....
Wait, remember up in the fort? When we overheard the 2 slavants mixing chemicals? Could they be the cause of this?"
"This definitely appears to be the workings of the Plaguefather. My order has encountered these sorts of abominations before. Quickly brothers, we must burn the bodies lest the foul taint spread further."
Alighting the bodies with the torch, team quickly proceed to leave the basement. The fire, almost sentient, spreads rapidly. The team now hurry out of the house as fast as possible.
Everyone take an Agility test!

As Torg is running, an ember lights up part of his hairy beard. He dowses it quickly as he runs, but feels lamenting at the black cindery hair now at the bottom of his beard.
Agility Test = 40. That's a fail too :(
Anders is running, as spiteful flames lash out at him. His prayer book is blackened, and many pages become illegible.
Finally, with exertion the team descend the barrells to the backyard, and out to the main avenue. They watch, alomg with others, as the house's baleful flame quickly devours the building. Magi adept arrive quickly, and call upon powerful heavenly magic to quench the destructive thirst of the flames.
Looking around, the group realises they are at the centre of attention, a familiar old woman informing the people of her civic duties earlier that day.

What do you do?
Anders brushes himself down and prepares to address the people.

"Fear not, we are all OK. I am Anders van Hurstmann, Priest of Sigmar and these are my companions. There were signs of Chaos taint within this building and it had to be purged from this world. I thank you Magi for your assistance in this matter. My report shall reflect kindly upon your deeds. It surprises me that my order had not been called upon to deal with this issue sooner. Can somebody explain this?"
The crowd shift and whisper amongst each other. A man, fresh in youth but old in spirit emerges from the crowd,
"Because life'd be even harder with ye and yer sanctions! The Burneses died from disease, true, but what good is it to burn down the village in th' name of Sigmar? There lad bless him, was taint'd by Rot. A freak chance. Your order would have us burn on crosses and be thankful forrif!"
The crowd cheered at this man's words. The Adepts are pulling back, content the flame is doused, but perhaps a bit skittish at the crowd's growing excitement.
Anders looks back at his companions and hushes his tone.

"This is getting a bit out of hand, any ideas gentlemen?"
"Anyone up for a jog if this heads south?" Lancelot whispers.
"Indeed Lancelot, this could turn sour fairly quickly. These people have obviously lost faith in the order. Sigmar's light doesn't burn brightly in their hearts. I suggest we look for an escape route in case this gets out of hand." Anders replies
Torg already ran off, tooting his TubaKnight

Bolting, Torg heads back to the busy central street. He runs and runs and runs until he is in a part of town unknown to him.

Back at the burning house, Anders quickly glances around, and decides that Torg's exit route being the safest option. The crowd jeer at the sight of the dwarf fleeing. The women that were previously in the crowd have left now, ushering any children back inside. The men that are left are edging forward, the young speaker driving their machinations.
Anders fears the crowd might turn ugly at any moment. He decides the best course of action is retreat. He grabs Lancelot by the wrist and rushes after Torg.

Rushing out towards the main street, Anders and Lancelot cannot locate Torg. They decide to bolt down towards a side street near the entrance to the city.
Catching their breath, they believe they are untraced, and take the oppertunity to gather their surroundings.
The buildings here are very close to the city wall, casting shade on the entire alley. The buildings have their backs to you. Large pipes emit steam and other fumes, whilst other pipes lead into the ground. You can see 5 buildings from here, before they reconnect with the main street.
What was that riddle that I'm suppose to follow when I get lost....um.."Fool, fool back to the beginning is the rule." (brownie points for who gets the reference.)  To the bar!  I tilt my tubeknight backwards to decrease my profile.

"We appear to be lost Lancelot. Sigmar knows where Torg ran off too. He's probably found himself a tavern to drown himself in. Those Dwarfs do have an unnatural taste for ale. What do you suggest we do?"
"The citizens live in the Residential District, where we ran from. Perhaps, by staying away from that district, we may locate Torg and his alcoholic aspirations. Pray, what do these buildings here do?"

(Was the quote from the Princess Bride Torg?)

"I am not knowledgeable on the workings of machinery or steam, only the teachings of Sigmar. If I were to guess I'd say breweries maybe? Perhaps we should investigate the local area to find our bearings?"
Brownie points for you!
DING DING DING!
Ahem,

"That sounds reasonable Anders. Perhaps we can find a way in and see what they are upto. If they are pumping fluids into the waters, then this town is doomed indeed."
There are 3 buildings, each connect above an archeway. In this archeway, mbrinze pipes sink into the ground. Thinner and smaller pipes ascend the building, a grey fog slowly pumping out of it. There are 2 sets of windows towards the top of the building, near the thin pipes. Grates on the ground catch rainwater. Barrels are stored in what appears to be a garage sized storhouse.
You cannot remember how the front looks like, but you may revisit it at your own risk.
"I think I might be able to climb up there and see through those windows."

Anders removes his gauntlets and adjusts his armour, takes a firm grip on the pipe and attempts scale the building.

Str Test = 30 Success!!  :)
The pipes hold Ander's weight, although he doesn't dare do any sudden movements, just in case. Scaling the pipe, he looks across at the window nearest him.
"Anders! What do you see?"
The windowsill is wooden, jutting out of the window half a foot. (As in, 6") The frame is also wooden, dividing the window into 2 partitions, about 3ft tall, and 1.5ft wide. Anders cannot see directly into the window from his position, however he may jostle out to the windowsill to glimour inside.

Somewhere off, Torg hears a large comotion. He pops his head out of the tavern, to witness a host of people, 3 in all, being carried away to the Town Hall, by men with gloves, made of stone.
Anders carefully leans across to peer inside the window.

Perception Test = 41.. Bugger!
Leaning over, Anders hears a crunch, mand suddenly feels himself swinging into the window itself! He can jump off the pipe, at his own risk, or he may jump into the window.
Thinking quickly and realizing the fall may do more damage than the window he jumps for the window itself.
Torg follows the men with the fabulous gloves, hoping to snag a pair for himself.

(Sorry everyone, just got back from America, so now I can plough along with the plot!)

Anders dives in the window. Scratcged by glass, he suffers 1 damage point, and rubs himself down. He looks around the room;

The room is well furnished, with soft chairs and decorative ornaments. He sees 2 other doors in the room, and a wardrobe, as long as his whole body. With a distinct clanging sound, Anders blacks out.

Torg skulks in the alleys, and sees the men with stone gloves  head directly into the Town Hall.[

Whilst this is going on, Lancelot decides to hang around for Anders, unaware of his prediciment./i]
I'm going to ask around for information about the men with the gloves.
You shall fear the warppuppies for the warppuppies have teeth and are hungry, and forsooth they have decided that thy are crunchy and taste good with ketchup
Torg looks around for people to ask. He notices passers by and approaches them, 2 women and a small boy.
Torg, take a  single Fellowship test, to break the ice into your question. After all, a battled scarred Dwarf approaching 2 women and a boy could be seen unfavourabley by many.

Anders can feel his senses return to him, with a heavy throbbing in his head. He cannot see, perhaps he is blindfolded. His ears are ringing, and his wrists are chaffing on something.
"You beast. You foul, impudent perverted brute!" Anders receives another blow to the head, suffering another point of damage. "Do you know who I am? You'll hang for this!"
(OOC -  I disappear for a few days and I come back to fin myself being manhandled!  :o What are my options here?)
You can only tell that the voice is feminine and of a younger age than you, but older to consider Lancelot a boy. You are unaware of your surroundings, you might or might not be in the room in which you dived into. Your mouth is not gagged, you are blindfolded, and tied at the wrists.
(OOC - I see, well lets try this one out for size)

Anders begins to panic as he feels disoriented and unaware of his current predicament. In an attempt to escape from his captor he recites a prayer from memory in an attempt to stun his assailant giving him the time he requires to escape. He whispers the prayer so as to not draw any attention to himself whilst drawing in the holy might of Sigmar.

Voice of the Emperor Attempt = Wp 5 +1 + 5 = 11 Success!
Damage Roll = 7 + 8 = 15 Nice!  8)
The room rattles, you can hear objects smash as they fall from heights. Your chair is knocked on it's left side, and you hear footsteps approach.
"Eirika? Eirika wher-Oh by Sigmar! Healer! Where's a healer?!" A man's voice is heard. He sounds older than you Anders, with a distinguished air of authority around his voice, rather than fear.
(OOC - I trashed a room for no reason... AWESOME! :D)

"Hello?! Who is there! I demand in the name of Sigmar you release me! I am a priest of the holy order. Release me at once lest your soul be damned!" Anders shouts out.
"Me daughter's life is in the balance over you! You're no priest you madman!" A sound of lifting occurs, and the man thuds out of the room at an alarming pace.
"You would question my holy mission?! Let me out of here by Sigmar, let me out! I shall assist in saving your daughter!" Anders shouts out at the sound of someone leaving the room.
Puzzled at the delay, Lancelot, being of a rash nature, wanders around aimlessly. His entry points are now limited to the locked front door. To his surprise, a familiar face bolts out of the house, clutching a battered woman. Fearing the worst of this man's reputation, Lancelot sneaks into the house in his abscence.

"C'est mauvais, c'est mauvais, what have you done?" Lancelot asks, as he unties Anders.
31.

Torg walks upto the women, a mixture of fast stepping and slow arm movement. Their conversation continues, until Torg clears his throat.
What do you say?
Anders collects himself and takes a look at his surroundings, checks himself to ensure he has all his equipment and turns to Lancelot.

"Thank you friend, this madman held me under duress for no good reason. He is obviously insane and must be institutionalized!"
"Why was a man dragged into here by men with granite gloves?  Also do you know where I can get some valve oil?"
You shall fear the warppuppies for the warppuppies have teeth and are hungry, and forsooth they have decided that thy are crunchy and taste good with ketchup
The women's conversation dies down. The glance fleetingly around them, and proceed to say,
"I have no idea whatcher talking about".
As they begin shuffling away, their voices hushed to be inaudible, Torg turns to see the young boy standing infront of him.
"Mistehr, the glove men are special, and only take away the badmen. I try to be a good man, because It would be dishgusting to have those dirthy gloves on yowa skin."
(OOC - OK, I'm a little lost at this point. Not quite sure what to do or what's happening with Anders.)

(I guess I didn't expect a monk to try to kill a woman who tied him up for climbing in her bedroom window )

"You don't realise...No no no we can't stay for long here, in this town I mean. We need to find their Mayor equivalent, alert him of the plague spreading through the water and leave before our heads are on those pikes outside."
Lancelot and Anders leave the house. They begin to pass in and out of corners and side-streets and the like, for fear of the mob they saw previous was aware of their presence.
They reach the centre of the town, and see a familiar face talking to a boy. Whilst the boy is enthralled of Torg's tales, he quickly recomposes himself, bids farewell to the boy, and rejoins the group.

Town Hall, lay in front of the men. In front of the town hall however, was a crowd, of 30 or so men. They were shouting

"WE WANT ANSWERS! WE WANT ANSWERS!"
Ducking out of sight, the team attend to formulate their plan of action.
"Gentlemen, it appears our main entrance is a small bit entertained by the crowd. We only need to alert the town of the cultist camp, nothing more. I don't think breaking in went so swimmingly last time, so let's keep things simple. How do we go about this?"
"Hmm... This town doesn't seem to be particularly devout to our lord and savior. Perhaps I should address the people and make them see reason? Should they turn on a representative of the one true god again I will have to deliver judgement upon them. What say you?"
"Attacking the people might be unwise. My father always instructed me that your sword can only ever have 1 opponent impaled on it. But maybe we could rally the people of the town...or distract them."
I think that the evidence has mysteriously been burnt to the ground.....unless there were more condemned houses in that neighborhood.
You shall fear the warppuppies for the warppuppies have teeth and are hungry, and forsooth they have decided that thy are crunchy and taste good with ketchup
"I wonder if that house is still on fire... Maybe it wouldn't require evidence at all, if the effect is elsewhere in the town"
"Perhaps we should investigate further. The source of this plague could be the town's water supply or maybe in their food?"
I would argue both. If the river is polluted, then perhaos their animals are too. Yet, how does one go about curing such a prediciment without condemning the citizens to death?"
There are men with gloves running around, thus they must be important to the plot.  I can't sneak around because https://www.facebook.com/Patrick2016/photos/a.156463951177972.34888.156462417844792/514715855352778/?type=3&theater

"A man of my stature does not skulk in the shadows like a rat. We should openly confront the people and ask that they aid us. If they are honest Sigmarites then they should be more than happy to help us in solving this quandary"
It's up to you what to do guys. Besideds, the only bad thing that could happen is you end being torn limb from limb by a mob  :P
(OOC - That's a risk I'm willing to take!)

Without waiting for the approval of his companions Anders pushes a path through the crowd and addresses the masses.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! I am Anders van Hurtsmann of the Holy Order of Sigmar. My companions and I have come here to end the blight on your town. I believe this is the work of the foul powers and we require your assistance in dealing with the disease spreading through the town. We need to stop the cause of this at it's source! Can anybody tell me where the first outbreak occurred?"

The young man from before steps forward, as the crowd goes quiet.
"An' you think you can stohp it? Well, by ahll means, the first outbreak was me sister's family. You Sigmarites left the town shortly after, fear ye would get it too. The Gov didn't lend a hand either! So, I'll give ye yer options;
You stand with us, and break down this 'ere door.
Or, we hang you from the city walls. What will it be then?"
Or we could run.....and mop up who's ever left after this firestorm has passed over.
You shall fear the warppuppies for the warppuppies have teeth and are hungry, and forsooth they have decided that thy are crunchy and taste good with ketchup
"I hear your plight citizen, this whole affair stinks of corruption in one form or another and I shall not stand for it. We shall get to the bottom of this, worry not!"

Anders draws his mace, turns to the doors and swings at them with all his might.
With an unpleasant thud, Ander's mace clatters into the large metal doors. It produces a horrible sound, that causes many around it to collapse in pain.
A bell is town from the Hall, each thunderous clap louder than before. The 9th rung draws clouds into the skies. The 10th becomes the signal for lightning to strike the tower. With a malicious energy, the bell strikes for the 13th time, and a maniacal cackle is heard.
Recovering from the pain, the townspeople flee in all directions.

"Could it be?"
"Where can we go!?"
"Why us!? Why have we been forsaken?"
The guard barracks is suddenly emptied of all 30 men who would defend their city. They line the city walls, and man their artillery, awaiting this eminent threat.
"RATS!"

"We need to help these peo-" Lancelot is interrupted by a white bearded, strong faced man
"YOU! First me daughter, an' now ye' be callin' rats on us! Why I'll-" He pauses.
"By Sigmar, you be Capin's lad! Well boy, get your comrades and follow me the front gate!"

At the front gate of town, rifle shots are heard firing. Inconsistently, as if there is no officer to order fire orders. Cannonballs fire in quick succession. Whilst you cannot see how many ratmen are present, you know that 30 men alone can only hold them for so long.
"Ye's listen to me quick now hear. There's be a Seer out there. If I has the scars to prove it, he's the one the rats rally to. Kill him, and ye's have saved yer lives. However, there's stil the blasted bell to deal with in town! So lads, I leave it to ya, who's going with who? I'll be stormin' the vermin with a few soldiers, but we could use the hands."
"Torg, Anders, I'll attack the Belltower. This is a friend of my father's, you can trust him. Which of you will accompany me, and who will accompany Orvel here?"
"I've heard tales of the foul Ratmen and their chaotic gods, one foul god is as bad as another in the eyes of the one true faith. Like the ruinous powers these Ratman too worship the plague, this must cease! I shall eradicate them in the name of our lord and savior! I shall bring down Sigmar's furious wrath upon the Ratmen leader and assist in the defense of the town. "

Anders draws his mace in one hand, his tattered prayer book in the other and walks to stand by Orvel's side.

"Torg, what say you? Will you assist me or will you deal with that infernal ringing?" Anders says looking at Torg with a stern look upon his face.
That music offends me.  Excuse me, I need to shatter a bell.
You shall fear the warppuppies for the warppuppies have teeth and are hungry, and forsooth they have decided that thy are crunchy and taste good with ketchup
Ok, so I don't screw this up:
Anders & Orvel are to attack a Seer Rat.
Torg and Lancelot are to destroy the Belltower.
Is that correct?
Works for me.

(OOC - Yup, spot on sir. Lets get to the killin'!  8) )
"Then God-Speed with you friend."
Anders and Orvel leave for the city walls. Opening the gate would be suicide, so the men fall in behind the men on the wall.
"Now listen 'ere priest. These vermin will be on us in 2 minutes. If ye look out yonder, you can see the one's carryin' ladders. That's our way down, see? We'll put aside our earlier quarrel for now.
MEN HOLD YER FOIRE! I GIVE YE ONE ORDAR! KILL THE GREY-"
His obscenity is cut off by a loud howling, emnating from large, gorilla sized monstrosities. On one of their bakcs, a Grey-furred rat.
"Hehe, we'll be busy lad."

Lancelot and Torg push through the crowd towards the town centre. As they move, they witness Skaven launch from the sewer gates underneath them.

3 Gutter-Runners confront Lancelot and Torg. 1 carries Throwing Knives, the others carry Punching Daggers.
Torg is hit in the chest by a punching dagger, and takes 2 Damage.
Lancelot is (Oh lawdy) hit by 2 Throwng Knives and is held in an Armlock by a GR.
Anders prepares himself for the wall assault, his grip tightens on his mace as he addresses the troops.

"Remember men, these Ratmen worship the foul gods. We have the might of Sigmar at our side, in him we trust and if you are righteous your faith shall be rewarded! Brace yourselves, they will be upon us soon!"
Orvel pulls Ander's head in close, and whispers
"These folk were scorned by the Order, so what comfort d'you think they'd get from you spalping Sigmar around the works? You 'n me ain't buckos, especially when ye be pervin' on my lass, but I'll try ter keep you alive. I owe Cap'in a favour."
