front rank of 4 or 3?

The title says it all really. If your fielding a main unit of bulls or ironguts, 12 ogres total with characters, what do you prefer, ranks of 3 or 4?

Simple question, simple answer: 3

It depends how many characters you have. If you only had 1 character you may as well go 4 wide to max attacks as he wouldn't stay hidden for long anyway. If you have one combat character That isn't likely to die then go 3 wide and other characters are likely very safe in the 2nd rank. I think bulls are much better 3 wide either way, but ironguts can put out so many wound I always try to max damage output with them, so I tend to put them 4 wide, as most of the time they will do plenty more wounds than the unit they are fighting. But then I do play slaughterhammer

I've always liked 4 wide, but if you know you're facing something nasty like a witch horde, 3-wide is the way to go.
