How do you move your models?

I recently got a thundertusk and im loving the model but im just wandering how im going to move the dam thing. Its huge and full of little deatails that can break pretty easilly. Id allso like to know how people usually move their army around.
I was thinking of buying a feldherr figure case on amazon but im not so shure it will work with ogres. Has anyone tried it?

I am a big fan of KR Aluminum multi case, offers great protection and can be fitted for your specifications

For now I just use battalion box with some foam in works okay

I actually bought a cheap plastic organizer from my local Walmart, and then went to a craft store and bought foam sheets that I then cut and fitted into the plastic organizer. I use that for my big guys, but unfortunately I got distracted halfway through the project, and it's not quite done yet, so my models are still sliding around in there and popping off the base lol

I'm transporting my ogre army including a thunder tusk with a KR Kaiser 2 soft case. I love it. Two cardboard carry cases inside it, which are good if you are just taking a few models somewhere. Its got pockets for books, dice, measures etc. I can't fault it really.

I have a decent sized box from Amazon.  I just put models in there on their movement trays.  I carry it carefully, and thus far have not had any breakages.  Also, it is really easy to pack up.  I just put the whole tray in when the unit dies.

I've seen people with the foam everywhere.  It takes them forever to set up and later put stuff away.

I've got a big plastic tub from the hardware store and put egg shell foam in layers.  This covers most of the smallish models.  But on the top layer, I use alot of bubble foam and then insulate it with upsidedown eggshell foam.

I haven't got the Thundertusk model yet, but I do have a load of large models for other armies. High Elf and Dark Elf Dragons, a Zombie Dragon, Terrorgheists, Imperial Griffons, a Manticore, a Chimera, a few Stormravens, a few Baneblades, etc... These are all a somewhat of a pain to carry around safely. At the moment, I've got a box with the soft foam stuff inside, that I use to wedge the model in place. It works, but you still have to be careful when moving it. Hence the reason why I drive to the location of the game

However, I have been looking at the KR stuff. Their cases look really good, and as they've got multiple different types of foam, you can pretty much get anything you want. And based on reviews, their customer service department is great at helping you get exactly what you want Sure, the cases do cost a bit, but I find it somewhat strange that people are willing to dish out hundreds (sometimes thousands) of euros/dollars/pounds/etc on models, but then skip out on paying the costs of transporting the models safely. Usually these are the same guys I hear complaining about how hard it is to move models around and that their models break during transit

Not to say that DIY transport boxes/tubs/whatnot don't work, but that usually the investment in a good case is a good one

Most Ogre models are pretty sturdy I find, with the infantry and characters and stuff they're mostly fine just sitting in the bottom of a toolbox with some bubblewrap or whatever.

For the bigger models, especially Stonehorn/Thundertusk and Mournfangs I find it is a good idea to keep them at least a little bit dismantled for transport. With some magnets or pins it's easy enough to have the riders and stuff fully removeable from the main model (and the base too, without the base a lot of that stuff takes up much less space!) That way you're unlikely to snag any easily breakable bits during transport.

I also use the Kaiser 2.  Can take to card board box's which you can buy customisable faom to suit your needs.  The website might not be as easy to use as most.  But if you have any questions you can give KR a ring and they are more then happy to help.  None of my models have been damaged since!

Well KR has the self fill system which is great, WFB does not work currently but i have been informed they hope to have it up and running by mid 2015

Have all my armies magnetized. Bought 2 square meter of thick megnetfoil, (about $80) the one they use to cut in small pieces with a small advertising printed on them, to put on the fridgedoor, or on the side of the car.

Cut them with a papercuttermachine to small squares and glued at the bottom of the bases. Even on the big ones.

I have 3 different sizes of movement boxes, with all a piece Magnetfoil glued on the bottom.

What ever I put in there....it is secure for car travel.

The only part I have to watch out for is when a few models have been standing to long on a piece of iron movement tray. Then they are stuck to it like glued and I can pull one arm off... So I have to slide them off from the iron movement trays.

Magnetic sheet and magnets on the bottom of models. I actually use a plastic GW case I put the magnetic sheet in and my models hang sideways when its folded closed and carried by the handle. Completely unscathed.
