Battalion colour scheme

Hey everyone, I was thinking about what to paint my ogre battalion and Im pretty sure that all my paint has dried up now. Its been that long since ive done any modelling, even the names of all the colours is completely different since last time I did anything 😅

I was thinking of some sort of green colour scheme for the clothing but am unsure as to what colour the gutplates should be as well as skin colour, maybe have a green skin tone too? or would that be too much green on the models then, if so is there any suggestions for what goes well with a green scheme? I have some Tau Fire Warriors and have seen some pretty nice green armour schemes in the codex. Also when base coating the models should i use a black or white undercoat or just start layering straight over the model without a basecoat? (used to use all black base coat, maybe thats outdated now)

Personally I would just have one of the pants/skin/gut plates green. If you do all of it variations of green they may end looking like big frogs! Again this is just my opinion but green skin maybe a bit too close to orcs for me unless its just a slight tint. Green pants copper plates with some verdigris and skin with a few dark green tattoos?

If you want a jungle theme/woods i would suggest variation of green cloths and flesh skin then adding moss on shoulders or camoflague paint. Plates.. maybe... bronze or metall with sepia wash and gold drybrush

Reds, Golds\Bronze, warm browns if you're using an earthy green palette or if you're using a cooler tone, then some blues can work as well.

I wouldn't advice painting everything green, either - it'll look.... odd.  That said, golds and bronzes can both look nice with some level of green shade washing and skin tones can be highlighted with a slightly tinted pallid tone (think of the old 'Rotting Flesh' colour), giving you the green consistency throughout without having to resort to the "frog" look.
