Not High Elves (Thank God)

I started my Ogre army last friday,  so this blog will be several days behind.  I apologise in advance for the feeble quality of my photographs.  Once they're actually finished properly I'll sort out some decent ones. :)

On Monday I'd assembled and undercoated my models.  By Tuesday, my army had reached this stage -

The quality of my paintjobs aren't amazing, I'll freely admit it.  I am very pleased with the current speed of my work, though.  It feels great.  Really enjoying them and it reminds me of my old days playing Orcs for Fantasy.

Taking a rest for today, since tomorrow is gonna be the day I really blaze through the rest and get them "table ready"
Wow, that was some quick work.  Are you aiming to have them complete by a certain date or tournament perhaps?

Ogre Battles!

Tactica: Sabretusks
Tactica: Gnoblars
I have a week off work and I aimed to just have them done in the monday through to sunday I was away as a personal challenge - the past couple of years have been -very- slow in terms of my hobby as my High Elves and Ultramarines are armies that require such a clean, polished finish that I find myself nitpicking at every little detail.

So the real goal with this Ogre army this week and when I also add to it will be

- keep the project timescale realistic
- learn when 'enough is enough'
- get back in touch with 'gritty' looks again

No photos today, since it was all just teeth and repriming areas black, ready for the detail stage tomorrow. It was amazing how tidying up and painting the teeth finally made what I have done come alive. :)
Well... after a week (and a couple extra hours) - they're 'done' and ready for basing.

So here it is - the start of my ogre army.  I do mean it just being a start too - its something I plan on continuing.  In summary of the past week

- Ogres are great fun to paint
- I've finally got my painting mojo back
- Mournfangs are great models.  Mine look bad. :x

Bragg, 2 more Mournfangs and (possibly) 3 Ironguts and 3 Bulls for next month.  Unless someone gives me a better suggestion.
