Taking the advice of Jimmy, I have decided to chronicle my Warhammer Fantasy exploits from day one.
Let me start by introducing myself, my name is Seth, but I'm better known on the interwebs as Mcbrain. I'm a 30 year old Sailor, husband, and father currently living in Okinawa but moving back home to the states this Saturday.
As I said in my other thread, I've recently kicked a 10 year MMORPG habit and decided to move on to wargaming.
With this choice, I decided to pick Warhammer Fantasy as my game, and the Ogre Kingdoms army as my weapon of choice. After spending a bit of time on eBay, I found a couple of auctions that I thought suited my wants and needs fairly well: a decent sized army that was about 1/3 painted. So, I now have roughly 2700 points of Ogres and about 30-40% are painted already.
My plan is to use the already painted models as somewhat of a template or go by for painting my own. Once I am satisfied with my own painting skills, I'll strip the already painted models that aren't absolutely perfect and repaint them in my own style.
I plan on posting updates here every time I have the chance to tinker with my army. I realize that many (probably the vast majority) of you are veterans of this hobby. Perhaps it will be refreshing to see wargaming through the eyes of someone experiencing it for the very first time. From unboxing my first army, to painting my very first model, to having my very first battle; I would like to bring you guys along with me on my journey into this new and crazy interesting hobby.
Like I said before, I've been bitten by the Warhammer bug...so hopefully you guys will enjoy watching me grow as a modeler, painter, and tactician over the coming months and years.
I am making the journey home this weekend, and should have all of my shipments by Monday, at which point I will update the thread with some unboxing photos and comments.
Finally, I want to thank everyone here for being so knowledgeable and welcoming. You guys truly have an awesome community, and I'm glad to be a part of it. Hopefully I'll grow into a valued contributor one day. Cheers!
So, without further adieu here are some pictures from eBay of my new Ogre Kingdoms army:
