Firebellies and great weapons clarification

A simple question, can a firebelly with a great weapon still use his breath weapon in regular initiative order? The breath weapon rule makes it out as an additional attack resolved in initiative order. Am I correct then in assuming that it is possible?

That definitely sounds right to me.  The Always Strikes Last rule is for the Great Weapon and Breath Weapons go in initiative order.

You are correct. The Breath Weapon is at the users Initiative. His base attacks are suffering ASL because of the Great Weapon.

Also as a side note that often comes up. The Gold Sigil Sword will NOT increase the Initiative of the Breath Weapon as it states Attacks made with the Sword itself are made at Init 10. However the Potion of Speed will increase the users Initiative and thus the Breath Weapon's Initiative also making it strike earlier in combat.

Thanks guys! I guess conventional wisdom is giving the firebelly an ADH, but I just can't give up those high-strength attacks. Good to know that I won't be sacrificing my regen-killing abilities entirely.

It really comes down to personal preference. Some people save the Breath for that crucial round of combat and murder something in one round after the breath has been used. Others like you suggest prefer an AHW to you can strip regen before the Ironguts get to attack. Others like myself often take the Potion of Speed so you can use the Breath or AHW to strip regen before Ogre's get to attack. Comes down to what you want to achieve or your preferred play style really.
