Dark skin tones?

Hello all

Im hoping to start painting my ogres soon but I have an issue the lore behind my army is that they come from the deep reaches of lustria now this means an African skin colour I have absolutely no idea on how to paint skin like this. Any help will be much appreciated

The first question you really need to ask is "how dark"?  There are a pretty big range of skin tones in Africa, so checking some photo references first will be the biggest help.

Just don't fall into the pit trap of "brown" or "black", because even very dark skin has some peachy tones to the highlights, so highlight with a very tiny level of Ratskin Flesh and possibly some grey.

There are a lot of different darker skin tones, so it depends quite a bit on what you're after.
Try to google-fu after the skin tone you're after, and I'm sure you'll find a ton of useful stuff.

I've recently started painting an ogress (you may check my blog), and I'm aiming at a (warmer) Maori skin type, but I'm still halfway on it and I'm no expert so I'm not sure if it would help that much.
