Mordheim: Ogre Warband

original thread ↗

I once read that there were some experimental/playtest rules for running an ogre warband. I was wondering if anyone had any experience playing Mordheim with ogres. I have a few buddies who are interested in playing and I would rather not invest in another faction's models.

Plus ogres are da best.  8)

I've played in  a Mordheim campaign a couple years ago with Ogres! It was a lot of fun, especially because everyone else has about 7 man sized model on the board, and you have like 3 behemoths running around. Hehe

These are the rules I was allowed to use: http://www.mordheimer.com/warbands/experimental/ogres.htm

It was experimental, and so I had to give the ruleset to the GM so they could tinker with things. I don't think they changed much tbh.

Enjoy, and any chance we'll be seeing a few highlights from your games, or pics of your warband once completed?
They call me MR. Cthulhu! AAAAAHHHHHHH!
Way back when we were cracking at one here at the Stronghold. Hope was to get it balance tested and added to an issue of the Bellower but interest sort of fizzled out.

When I have used ogre mercenaries in games of mordheim they have never worked out well for me. They drain gold, attract all missile fire and get flattened in combat by the things I hired them to slow down like chaos possessed, vampires. And then die.
 In my opinion those warband rules would be tough. If you only start with 500 GC  you won't have many bodies so any losses would really hurt and the half gained experience may see you left behind quickly in a campaign.
Hey Stronghold,

Me and my friends finally got around to giving mordheim a go. It's...different. But I think in a good way. Anywho, I went searching for some ogre warband starter lists and came upon these:

* http://www.mordheimer.com/warbands/experimental/ogres.htm
* http://bordertownburning.ciantygames.com/pdf/16%20Maneaters.pdf
* https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B18J5DU-6cP_RmU1cWdaa1hhX00/edit

All three are different ogre warband rules. I particularly liked the last link, as it took into account the first two rulesets in an attempt to blend them together and simplify them. I also like the last set of rules because it had the option to field a hunter ~ which I was very excited about.

Anyway, I was wondering what your thoughts were? Any comments? Because I was going to try and convince my GM to let me use the rules in that third link. Maybe re-skin lions as sabertusks!

I have not forgotten our Warband! It kinda became my baby.

Really all it needs is testing, and my group is mulling starting a Mordheim campaign soon. So it will hopefully see some testing.
