Ogre tribe begins here

original thread ↗

Sooooo.. i did a weird thing and started to paint a model without guidance. Its a weird thing for me to do given my years in the hobby and the previous hundreds of models that never had paint put to them (minus basecoat of course, i not that bad XD). And stranger still i got focused on it so much that i am making slow progress.

But anyways i will be putting up a picture of the current ogre i have been painting up a little later on. Keep in mind he is still work in progress, and might be about 50% done at least.

My ogre tribe is set in the cold mountainous region of the mountains of mourn, and are often seen wearing heavy furred cloaks to keep the cold off of their backs as they fight and hunt, heavy shoulder pads nailed into their bodies to keep the cloak in place. Their skin is grey and cold to the touch, though that could be just a rumor, nobody has gotten close enough to find out without some kind of fatality occurring ^^;;;
Their banners are from the hides of animals and monsters they have hunted to feast on, or from any foe silly enough to come into their territory, and have a number of trophies scattered about their person. From skulls to great horns.
They daub themselves in blue warpaint normally around the face or leading from their hands up their arms to mark their tribe colors, and even dip their gnoblars into the stuff to know that they are a part of the  tribe and not anothers gnoblar  to be eaten. Though that rarely stops a hungry ogre.

Their current leader is a bruiser making a name for himself by the name of Grug Beast Dragga. A name given when he battled a particularly angry large thundertusk, where he launched his trusty hook and chain, know as ol' gutter, at the beast and impaled it in its eye socket. And with all his muscle he dragged it to the ground where he proceeded to kill it, gut it, and eat it in front of his tribe.

That's what i have right now in mind ^^:;;
But i am building up this army as part of the nagash campaign is going on. In which my tribe is leaving their mountains to go find out what is killing off their food supplies.

My tribe doesn't have a name yet as you can see. It was going to be the frozen fists but someone beat me to it XD
So i will think of the name and get back to you all on that one. And i will try to get a picture up tonight so i can get my gnoblog started :P
Welcome to the happy world of Gnoblogs. Look forward to seeing your army progress. Keep us posted.

G_H
Well here is my first model. Still needing to finish some of the colors off but this is generally what i am going for. Its not the prettiest model around but i still like him XD
Also as said before this is my first model close to being fully painted ever XD
I'm also happy with the fur, i haven't really used greenstuff before and the tutorial was pretty simple to follow

So far as well the campaign is going smoothly. I managed to get another five games away and come out with four wins. More gold for the pile ^^
The deadliest thing in the army right now isn't the bruiser or any of the ogre units. Its the gnoblars. Dear god they are the most accurate and biggest surprise in the army. So far their kill count is:

5 Chameleon Skinks
2 Orc Spear Chukkaz
1 Dark Elf Hero (they almost killed the manticore he was riding on as well)
And have held up more combats than i can count so the bruiser can get in on the action XD

My 500pts right now is something like this

Bruiser - 149pts
Heavy Armour, Enchanted Shield, Sword of Anti-Heroes, Potion of Speed

5 Ogre Bulls - 170
Standard, Ironfists

3 Ironguts - 129

10 Gnoblars - 25

10 Gnoblars - 25

In two weeks time there will be 300 extra points coming up and i have no idea what to include XD
Though the bruiser may be switched out for a wizard since i unlocked him recently. Same for my 25% of special. And just in case your wondering how that bruiser got into the heroes, its 50% on the hero slot since its the nagash campaign
Looking great - the GS work on the fur is excellent.

You could spend some of your next 300 points on some Mournfangs? Great models and hit like a train. Two with heavy armour and ironfists is 120 points, so you'd have plenty left for other toys.
Played 2, won 2
Gnoblar_Herder - Thanks, i think it will be a great help to keep me going. Though progress is slow, i'm not as fast as everyone else here ^^;;;;

Druk - Thanks, its really my first time with greenstuff and i found a simple tutorial online. Since the last post the model has had a bit more paint put to it and is close to finished. I gave the fur a light drybrush of white, the pants are purple, and the stone has been painted.

I also just ordered my butcher model for the army. The female maneater should serve well as the brutal cook XD

The army list changed a little, now supporting a big chunky block of ogres with a butcher leading instead. Both units of gnoblars are still there. Can't forget my little deathdealers XD
