Byrnjolf the Frostbreaker and The Frozen Crest Tribe. (Newbie to Ogres)

Just started Ogres after a trade on bartertown, when I got them they were all primed gold and a few were painted a different scheme. The goal with this Gnoblog is to get them all done before Christmas.

Things I want to buy to complete the army

Throgg Troll King model to use as the maneater champion and/or a Hero/Lord

Firebelly or a different Mage? I really want to keep magic to a minimum if possible as I love the idea of a combat Ogre Lord however I have no idea what kind of mage to take I am not used to Ogres at all yet.

4 Iron Guts to fill the ranks of Iron Guts or perhaps I will use some unit fillers?

4 Leadbelchers I had planned on running 1 unit of 5 and 1 of 6 that may be to much though

Lastly a Ironblaster to give me one of each warmachine.

MANEATERS CONVERSIONS

Those maneater conversions are really stand-out! Nice work!
What did you use to make those movement trays? I like the unified look.

so for making custom round shields, try 40k bases with the rim cut off to provide a template / core to work from and then texture with G.S to create a planking effect and sculpt a rim around the edge and a boss in the middle.
I know it sounds like a lot of work but it is worth it 

Alright so the basing

You start of with a metal sheet (I got mine from lowes for around 7 dollars if I recall)
Its a flimsier metal so if you wiggle it it vibrates this allows you to cut it with scissors which makes things fairly simple.

This is a small square about 4x4.5 inches


Step 2: Place the models the tray is for unto the metal leaving space infront (about .25 inch) and space on sides (.125 inch or half what you left up front) These measurements do not need to be exact and whatever space you leave should look good but its best to leave adequate room for the blue foam to be glued on.



Step 3: Now cut off any excess, so I am making a tray for 10 Gnoblars which means that whole back area needs to go at this measurement I just cut it in half.

Step 4: with the models on the tray and empty space on the front and flanks line up the blue foam to the front and then sides cutting a square to fit the space.



Step 5: Glue the pieces in, now the models may not fit anymore assuming you did not do everything perfectly but dont worry about that quite yet. Let it Dry!





Step 6: Using a foam cutter (I use one called styro cutter plus! lol) Cut at an angle starting on one flank and wrapping around the front and to the other flank the blue foam so that it is a ridge that slopes down.



Step 7: Cut the inside of the foam at the same angle on the front, you can leave the sides alone if you want.



Step 8: Place the models in the tray, if you can not fit them like so



Cut the insides of the left and right flank with the foam cutter straight downwards, any excess foam can be cut out with a knife



Step 9: Place the models in the tray and hip hurrah you are done




As for painting I did Fernisian Grey and then washed with Gulliman Blue Glaze, then put the snow flocking on and finished it off with mordheim tufts.

Also here is the 2 Maneaters so far, (will be able to take better pics when I get my Ipad back, using someone elses ipad mini camera and its fuzzier methinks)

Got some more Maneaters done! Tryed my hand at freehanding a dragon head symbol on the banner to represent the Dragonhide Banner.

Some really great work here. The basing tutorial is excellent and really useful. Love the maneaters really nice work. This army is really shaping up into a great looking army.

I do have a question regarding scheme to anyone with a keen eye, I have tried out many different skin tones and was wondering which model has the best skin?

Here is my side project, (Hordes: Minions)

I have to say it; nice work on those PP models. I don't know much about Hordes/ Warmachine but I really like their models. I would love to gather up an army of the blue guys with cabers (Trollbloods?) as they look pretty sweet to paint.

Anyway, I am loving these alligator guys they look awesome, right amount of blood too on the hooded guy; not too much, but enough to say "post dinner"!
