original thread ↗

Hi everyone.

My name is jon, and I am just starting out with my ogre army. I have ordered the battalion, so will be working on some core, and hopefully some characters out of that. But I got hold of an iron blaster cannon, so thought I'd start having a play with that.

My intention is to do a pirate themed army, lots of conversion work, and the fluff is going to be more important than the competitiveness.  I started a topic in the painting and converting,  which I will link when I'm on the computer not phone where I was discussing each army books entry as a role on the ship. Please continue to discuss on there/here. Need all the input I can get!

So here is 2 different styles of iron blaster.  Would love to see which people think looks better. I still need to find some wheels. And do something on the sides (ideas????)
Obviously very wip!

Looking forward to having this army grow and for thoughts suggestions comments anything and everything from the community.

Welcome! Always happy to see new blood here! I always love seeing new conversion work.

Between the two cannons, I like the first one now, but honestly think the second one will look better once you put wheels on it.  For the sides, it depends on your skill with milliput/ green stuff (I use the former). If you have a lot of skill, a mer-ogre diorama would be very pirate-y. If you don't have a lot of skill, then I would put raised edges around the sides and then give it a few good scratches. Then paint it to look like a good weathered wood.

I will see if I can find your other post and add what I can. Again, welcome!
@LawGnome - Thanks for the reply. I agree with the scene idea on the side of the cannon. My greenstuff skills is pretty useless tbh, so I am waiting to look through the extras you get on the sprues. If nothing inspiring is on them, then I will probably just edge the carriage.

I am trying to actually write a list before getting everything for it, so I don't end up with masses of troops that never get used (see all other armies I have ever had!) So this is my latest planned list. Any thoughts would be welcome, just bear in mind that this is a fluff based army, not insanely competitive. i do want to be able to compete, but not totally cheese.
