2500 Redstone Rumble (final list, last minute thoughts)
Bump! Looking for any thoughts. Whether on choice of Lore, character load outs, list weaknesses, etc... Or just say which of the alternate ideas you'd prefer?
Here's another idea or two:
- Ogre horde Remove 1 Irongut from main unit
15 Ogres (IF, Mus, Std)
- Ogre block and LBs Remove 3 Ironguts from main unit
8 Ogres (IF, Mus, Std)
6 Leadbelchers (Mus)
I'm not a huge fan of regular ogres, especially when I can't buff them with LotGM. Could make the Butcher lv2 to help them out...
What do you guys think?

I think I like the maneater option better, but I'd probably not do posion/sniper and do posion/stubborn with the flaming banner - shoot regenrators before your ironblasters blow em up, get stuck in combat with one remaining guy, really useful.
You might consider dropping to 3 mournfangs to fish up a few extra points, similar threat level - but a single model can rally on normal leadership rather than snakeeyes - a bit of a toss up.
You could also beef up your core by making your gnoblar blocks bigger-> 5 ranks of gnoblar into the flank with a banner, can actually add combat res and potentially break a bigger block thanks to disruption - also makes em harder to pop off with a spare magic missle.
I do feel like your slaughtermaster is a hair under defended, especially if he's going to be hanging out in front so he can throw purple suns - but I'm not sure how I'd get magic defense covered without leaving him a bit out to dry

Thanks Emergency Rations!
I like the flaming banner thought on the MEs. Why not sniper? 12 shots = 2 poison wounds on a character even at long range and multiple shots. Probably 2 rounds of it, too. Seems like I'd get more mileage out of that than stubborn which may or may not help me. If a character joined them, stubborn all the way. I see them as beefed up LBs and hope they fill the same role. I don't use MEs very often...
However, with sniper and flaming, there are a lot of 2+ flaming ward saves out there... They can still strip regen, if need be. I'd only be worried about abominations and chimeras though, really.
I hadn't considered 3 MFC but then I don't know that the banner would get as much mileage and having 4 means that I'm more likely to live and see combat at a respectable strength. I will keep that option in mind.
As for SM, I know. I NEED dispel scroll and I NEED stubborn which only leaves so many points. I'd rather have the GW than the shield though, I think.
Anyone else like the ME option?

Regarding the maneaters: A lot of the stuff that you will want to snipe with have the dragongem. If you are taking the flaming banner, you are bringing the maneaters to shoot regen off of a chimera or similar regenerating nastiness before your cannons finish the job.
If you want sniper, don't take the flaming banner.
Otherwise, take stubborn. It is a lot more useful. MEs are fantastic combat units, but if you get into a bad combat, you want to stick around for an extra round, rather than have the ability to snipe a single guy once or twice.

Concur that flaming/sniper is begging to run into a 2+ ward save.
The reason I find sniper to be less than useful is that it is only a -2 to armor save on a successful wound. This leaves most semi-valuable targets probably at a 4 or 5+ armor save and some form of ward save - somewhat hard to push enough wounds through to really have it work out. You might grab a scroll caddy here or there, but an opponent can fairly easily defend them with some kind of cover, mitigating sniper almost entirely.

All good points on the MEs, gents'. If I take them, they go Poison and Stubborn with flaming banner.
The question is, from a tournament standpoint, are 6 the Maneaters better than 6 LBs and 4 more Ironguts? Leadbelchers clear chaff but can't strip regeneration. Otherwise those models can do roughly what the Maneaters do. 10 models as opposed to 6 (since to take the Maneaters I have to still fill core).
I think I need to have the chaff clearance of either the MEs or LBs whatever way I go.

I have modified the original post to my most recent draft. I went with the Maneaters and some other slight variations.
Let me know what you guys think! Any comment and criticism is welcome.
