My gnoblog start

original thread ↗

Well i have actually done a little work, so I feel like i can actually start a gnoblog now.
First off I don't have a tribe name, and just a very basic concept... so i am running with it like an ogre at an all you can eat buffet :P

The idea behind the army was actually a recent one. I was told in the new nagash book, with the rise of the undead on such an enormous scale, other armies and beasts have now started to flee to the mountains of mourn. They have invaded our home and have slaughtered our food and if  there is one thing we won't stand for its other monsters killing our food. So there is a tribe (my tribe) that lives in the snowy area's of the mountains of mourn, they have traveled a little in the world and have had their own fair share of adventures and battles, each ogre being his own and different from his kin. But with the invasion of races and beasts seeking food and shelter from the  undead the Tyrant of the tribe has grown angrier indeed and has started to retaliate against any and all intruders. His kin armed up, their fur cloaks to keep the snowstorms off of their backs, anger in their eyes and a rumble in their mighty bellies, they set off to the entrance to their territory to put a stop to these intruders once and for all.

I will have models posted soon of what I have in mind of doing. Now I will state i am not anything fantastic. And greenstuffing is really new to me... like a few hours ago was my first time. But I will give it a try to finally make an army  my own.

The idea is an army of monster and beast killers. Every ogre in the army has their own fur pelt to keep the cold off of their backs, but not their front cause they don't make cloaks that big XD
The cloaks are held onto the body by two shoulder pads, a mix of gutplaces and shields from the ironguts sprue, and the shields with space on them will have a horn on it or a form of trophy hanging from it. I'm trying to make an ogre army where each model feels like its own ogre, and to start with it will be the unit of  ogre bulls. Whether it is ogres with raised weapons, some marching at normal pace angrily waiting for the  chance to warm themselves in their enemies blood, or just ogres with their favorite weapons/gnoblar/food and drink.

Now i already have my models for 1500pts and this is what i am aiming for by the end of October:

Butcher (ogre bull conversion)
Bruiser (ironblaster crew conversion)

10 Bulls
6 Ironguts
10 Gnoblar Trappers
10 Gnoblar Trappers

3 Mournfang Riders
2 Hunting Wolves (Sabretusks)

Scraplauncer

This is what I have in mind, and this is the little concept I have. And hopefully by the end of today I will have a picture up of my  first test model without the undercoat.
Ok, I finally found my camera so I managed to get a shot of the first ogre that i did up. It might look like nothing special but its a big deal to me XD

Well this is what I am going for ^^;;;
Have to say; excellent fluff. well thought out and more importantly very current. This is a great idea as it will carry along with the Nagash story as it unfolds, which in-turn will help keep the army current an innovative, so well done there.

The first Ogre looks the business! You have every right to be proud of him. the first Bull I built was straight out of the box and I wouldn't ever have considered playing with Greenstuff so this guy looks awesome. If this is the standard of the Ogres you are going to be producing backed with excellent fluff then I for one cannot wait to see more of them mate; I shall be watching this Gnoblog with keen interest!

In the meantime, have yourself a pet Gnoblar for an excellent start with your Ok army. Keep an eye on him though...he has a tendency to wander!  :D

G_H
Lovely first Ogre! Cape looks nice'n furry. Can't wait to see more/paintjobs.
I miss the Tenderiser...
I used to be called "Ghlezgar", if you want to know.

Gnoblar_Herder - Thanks for the kind words, it means a lot when i feel like something is going ok and other people realise it before i do. It means i don't feel like everything is futile XD
Also thanks for the pet Gnoblar, i think i will name him... Clepto, since for some reason i keep finding bits to use everywhere. I think he has been thieving bits boxes all over XD

As for color scheme I'm still at a bit of a loss to be honest. I'm not sure what color to do the skin of the ogres. I know its winter and snowy mountain theme that I'm aiming for, but that's all really ^^;;;
I will be doing some more bulls over the next couple of days, but i will be having to wait till Thursday to do the Greenstuffing. I don't quite trust myself yet to work without the eyes of someone who knows what they are doing looming over my  shoulder XD

Keelhauled - Thank you ^^
I will try to get more done as soon as I can
Just an update, I took a heck of a break from my ogres. A lot of this stuff that the humans call emotional stuff happened, but i feeling a bit better now. Especially after i ate that human who told me what the problem was. Now I'm full and ready to get back onto the gnoblogs and keep moving forward ^^

I should be doing some more ogres on Thursday. I have a 500pt escalation campaign i want to join up and play in which starts in 3 weeks. So its something to aim for. I also have to get my army undercoated for Friday, i want to test my idea for the 500pts and i have a friend who wants to take on my Ogres with his wood elves.

... ate a wood elf once, tasted like wood and wouldn't stop screaming. That's the last time i eat raw roasted wood elf. But pounding them into paste. i can live with that XD

So yeah, I hope to get some  more stuff up soon.
