The FriendBashers Tribe

original thread ↗

Alright then, I haven't been on a little while since Ive been swamped with finalizing college and finishing my senior project and its been even longer since Ive updated the tribe, almost a year!  Well the other day I bought a box of bulls and I'm finally going to carry out a conversion I've been planning for awhile, yhetees that fit in with my theme.

So for awhile I've had this idea that some of the exiles would have gone made from so much exposure to the sun and eventually break away from their brethren, devolving into a miniature, animalistic sub cultural of insane, beastial ogres.  So I need some help for conversion ideas.  I was thinking of sculpting some fur along the shoulders, parts of the arms, upper back, maybe some mane like tufts of fur.  I don't want to completely cover them, just make them look more wild, also using the heads with the most facial hair to build on.  Also I think I want to forget gutplates and sculpt bare stomachs similar to my butcher conversion but perhaps with a little fur and a little less of the pregnant look. However I was wondering what else I could do to make them stand out...the arm poses seem a bit static and I'm not sure how to go about changing that since the bull sculpts are very restrictive in arm positioning.  Also I was thinking of adding some simple tattoos to represent some sort of magical protection to replace frost aura, similar to savage orc warpaint.  But should I do something about the pants?  How?  Should I remove the iron bottoms of the boots?  Should I possibly try to chop up portions of the boots and try to sculpt some protruding toes?  I'd love to hear your feedback because I'd really like to make these conversions fun and stand out from the rest of the bulls.

Alright, I've been kinda busy so the progress on the yhetees is slow but I like the results thus far.  Here are the 3 I've been working on, there's still some fur sculpting on a couple of them and two of them need to have stomach's sculpted, I thought that having one with a gut plate on would add to the randomness of the unit.  I'm really trying for a feral vibe but its difficult with my very limited conversion ability.  I was going to sculpt over the legs to look like bare skin but I dont have much GS and I really didnt want to screw it up too bad and just have a model covered from head to toe in poorly sculpted GS.  They all came out less dynamic than I originally intended, I tried to make the one with the club running but I couldnt get it to stay balanced so I scrapped that idea and I tried to convert the one with the makeshift spear into a throwing pose but my attempts at musculature were horrible so I scrapped that too.  I think once the stomachs are done and they are painted they will look much more yhetee-esque, the beards will match the fur which will be a tannish color rather than the black hair of the rest of the tribe.  This was also my first attempt at sculpting fur and doing it on such a large area of the model was difficult but I think it should come out alright, I might be able to cover up some of the imperfections in the painting process.  They should stand out from the regular bulls I hope, but let me know if you're not feeling it, I could really use the feedback!

This was using a different camera than usual so the pics arent great but you get the idea.  Also on the first one with the gut plate you can't see it but on his right foot I sculpted a big claw and some fur protruding from his boot, I thought it might look a little interesting but tell me if its no good.  Not sure if I should do something similar on the others.  I have vacation this week so I'll finish all the conversion stuff before saturday which is a fantasy battle day at my local shop so I can use them in a game or two.  After I do these yhetees I'm going to take a bit of a turn and instead of doing the other 3 yhetees now, I want to do a conversion for a BSB I've been planning for awhile using an orc chariot axle as a banner.  But I'm getting ahead of myself, I gotta finish the yhetees!  Hopefully painted up in a week :)

LONG time no post!  I just thought I'd put up a few quick pictures of what I've been working on for the past few weeks since deciding to jump back into warhammer.  The yhetees are almost finished but I didnt get any pictures of them, they should be done next week.  Here are some of my many other WIP projects...

My second irongut unit (with BSB and Tyrant)

BSB

Close up of standard

Size comparison to other standard

Tyrant

These are all pretty WIP so Id love to hear your advice, questions, insults, etc.  Thanks in advance for the feedback!

I like the tyrant head on the irongut, and I love the standard. However, those arms just look too big. How come you don't use the tyrant body as your tyrant?
I like the Cathay style ogre.

If by RAW, you mean "Reg06's Audacious Whims", then you'd be right.

Thanks for the feedback!  the reason I dont use the tyrant body is because I already used it on my bruiser.  I tried to bulk up the tyrant but I was considering adding some GS to his gut and possibly extending his legs a bit but I think he stands out alot as is.  Im considering draping another flap of chainmail from the back of his barrel shoulder pad but Im not sure yet.  Also the weird green blob on his weapon arm is in progress, its going to be another metal plate.  I do agree that the arms are quite big and especially on the tyrant the pose seems a bit awkward from a few angles but I think it contributes to the pose a bit since he's leaning away as if he is parrying with his other hand.  any other ideas on how I can make him look more tyrant-y without making him too cluttered?  I need some ideas for an epic base, also Im thinking of adding tusks to his gut plate but I think it might make him look too cluttered.  For now Im really pleased with the models but Im waiting to prime them until I get my other projects done, hopefully I come up with some more ideas by then to perfect them.

Wait. You have seperate tyrant and bruiser models? And your bruiser is bigger than your tyrant? Do you ever actually use both in the same game?

actually because the bruiser was also converted (smaller head, set lower.  tyrant has bigger head set higher) the tyrant actually stands a tiny bit taller but the bruiser IS a little wider.  thats why I want to pop off the gut plate and build up his gut a bit more and put the gut plate back over it.  Ill get on it asap so I can show you guys size comparisons.

For now, here is a repost of my bruiser from page 8.

And I suppose either could be a tyrant or a bruiser, but no I havent used both in games and I dont intend to until I get over 2000pts (just reaching the 2000pt mark now).  Speaking of going over 2000pts, I need some more units to fill out my army so I can start playing bigger games.  TempleCon is coming up (the only big wargaming convention in rhode island) in February and if they get a fantasy tourney going this year I want to be able to get in on that!  I'm right now considering converting some scraplaunchers by buying the rhinox and building the warmachine around it myself after all of the horror stories Ive heard about building the scraplauncher.  I know they are a bit unreliable, but my primary opponent for the next year is going to be a WoC Nurgle army so I think some scrappies can help out there.  Also I am considering getting a giant, yes I realize that everyone says they are the worst rare choice but I really want to have some fun with the model and Im not a very competitive player and neither are my friends.

I kind of trailed off there but oh well, its all relevant to the friendbashers :)  Also Im starting on another fluff story revealing a bit more about this bitter tribe so Ill post some of that later this week
