Greetings from the grim north

Hi Everyone,

I am starting to develop an Ogre army, so I will log my efforts on this forum. I got back into the hobby in 2012, having been away since around 2001 when I were a young lad. Fantasy, as a genre, has begun to take my interest over SciFi. I have some Mantic Ogres that were secured in a favourable eBay transaction and these got me going on my Ogre journey.

Ogres are low model count so I actually get them painted instead of having 20 Orcs left untouched because I can't face doing any more. The Mantic Ogres aren't to everyone's taste and I realise this is a WHFB forum but bear with me.

Tonight I have ordered some Leadbelchers, and plan to add many more Ogre Kingdoms miniatures to my army. I like the look of the Ogre unit kit and that is coming next. I will concentrate on the GW/WHFB side of the project here and hope to get help, tips and advice. The forum seems very friendly and knowledge rich, and is on Tapatalk which is a godsend!

In personal terms I live in Bolton, Lancashire. Outside of wargaming I play and enjoy Baseball, like the NFL and Football (soccer).
Welcome to the stronghold!

I actually like the Mantic ogres, admittedly they are not the same as the GW ones, but variety is the spice of life! Anyway take a look at Warlordsteve and RJ_Payne's Gnoblogs...not exactly what you would expect when thinking of an Ogre army and yet they are both amazing armies.

There is a wealth of Knowledge here so feel free to look about and post any questions you like, there is always someone who will help out especially with lists and painting and modelling advice.

Also keep an eye out for some of our infrequent competitions and challenges as they are a fun way to get involved with the community.

On a side note; Commander Panda....I have heard that name before somewhere. Do you post up allot of Mantic updates on Google+? If so then I think our paths may have crossed already!

Welcome again to the forum and I look forward to seeing what you do with the Mantic Ogres (starting a Gnoblog is a great way of posting up progress with your army build) and the advantage is you can play them in both WFB and KoW; both of which I play with my GW ogres.

G_H
I am the very same Commander Panda! I will start a Gnoblog with my progress to date when I get some time on my laptop. Cheers!
Commander.Panda!

When I saw your  subject's heading, I thought I was coming to greet a fellow Canadian. ;)

As the previous newest member of the community, I welcome you. :P

P.S.
Are you a Wanderers fan? :D
Do wanderers fans even exist?

Thanks for the welcome guys! I am not originally from Bolton, and hail from Brighton. As such I am a BHAFC fan! Mwahaha our recent victory over the Wanderers was sweet. Incidentally I am Blue Jays fan, so there is some kind of Canadian connection.
Knew they didn't exist...

haha, I have a friend from Bolton, and that's the only reason I know who the Wanderers are. :D

Blue Jays fan, eh?  Very cool.  I was actually at the Jays/Tigers game that went 19 innings.  Concessions closed in the 7th.  Whooo boy.

Anyway, I'm straying off topic.  Judging by other people's replies, I look forward to seeing your army progress!
I am so jealous right now. I am already scribing a first post for a Gnoblog so all shall be revealed.
