2200 Unconventional (but not crazy) list for Northstar practice games

original thread ↗

Hi guys,

Putting together a neat little list to test my local gaming group while they prep for the Northstar GT. I won't be attending because of a wedding (silly family!) but I want to test their skills with something deadly, but not the typical style of Ogres. Since we're an older, average book in today's meta, it's important to keep lists fresh and your opponents guessing ;)

TEN BELLIES!!!
SM lvl 4 BEASTS
GW, Trickster's Helm, Talis of Pres, Rock Eye

KRULL MAN-TAKER, BANNER BEARER OF THE WORLD EATER
Bruiser BSB
Gold Sigil Sword, Enchanted Shield, Talis of End (dat 3+5++)

Unnamed Hellheart Maw Caddy of old-silly model namelessness!
Butcher lvl 1 Maw
GW, Hellheart

YAMA THE RED TERROR
Hunter
Sword of Striking, Charmed Shield, Dragonbane Gem, Giantbreaker

Ironguts x10
FC, Standard of the Big D

Gnoblars x20
Trappers (gimme the watchtowa!!!)

Mournfang x4
HA, IF, Bellower/Banner, Dragonhide (can't beat a true classic facesmashing unit)

Sabres x2

Ironblasters x2

So yeah, some of the tried and true, some of the seldom seen and under-used. I love my new Samurai Ogre so I need to use the Hunter here. He vanguards into good position with a kitty and threatens chaff and war machines on turn 2. If my opponent focuses on him I am fine with that, since I'm used to using Stonehorns as chaff anyways :P

Beasts is such a good lore for us, especially with a bunch of combat characters beating the snot out of my opponent's elite troops. I've wiped more than one smile off of faces with a boosted Savage Beast, and Amber Spear comes as a third cannon shot if I need it. Even Flock of Doom is useful for picking off chaff (looking at you, skinks!) or war machines. You can save one die for it and laugh as your opponent dies from BIRDS!

Unfortunately I don't think bringing my Stonehorns would be the best use of my points. They are super fun and I love them on the table, but they will die and give up so many points to pretty much anything S5+ or poison, which there's a whooooooooooole lot of out there now. Gnoblars are somewhat in the same boat, but I've used them very well in the past for holding down a flank or tricking my opponent into which side I deploy on. If they can get into a building right away, they'll usually stick around and throw sharp things at anyone sauntering around too close.

Let me know what you guys think! I'll update on here with how well it does come this next week.
Sounds good, when's a game coming up with it?

Should be this Wednesday, I'll update with how it does afterwards.
Had my game yesterday and I'll put it up in the Batrep section. My opponent even put it on youtube!
