CmrdRED's Ogre Kingdoms

original thread ↗

Hello everyone! I thought it prudent to start up a Gnoblog and start recording my progress with my new Ogre Kingdoms army. I'm been painting Games Workshops miniatures on and off for the last 15 years, but I have never really committed to having an army and playing an actual game. So here's to trying to push past the malaise and get out there and eat some thinlings!
I've ordered most of my army from my FLGS, I'm waiting on my 2 Ironlaunchers, Golfag and Bragg (who I will convert into a BSB). I've started mass assembly but I'm at a point where I can't go any further until Ive hammered out an army list to make sure I assemble weapons correctly, so I'll start with my 2500pt army list:

Lords (358pts)
Slaughtermaster (358pts)
Ironfists, Lore of the Great Maw, Wizard Level 4
BRB - Dispel Scroll, BRB - Talisman of Preservation

Heroes (608pts)
Bruiser (188pts)
Heavy Armour, Ironfist
Battle Standard Bearer
AB - Dragonhide Banner

Hunter (420pts)
Harpoon Launcher
BRB - Sword of Anti-Heroes
Stonehorn

Core (671pts)
Ironguts x9 (407pts)
Bellower, Champion

Ogres x4 (132pts)
Additional Hand Weapon, Ironfists

Ogres x4 (132pts)
Additional Hand Weapon, Ironfists

Special (519pts)
Leadbelchers x3 (149pts)
Bellower, Champion

Mournfang Cavalry x4 (328pts)
Bellower, Standard Bearer
Champion
A brace of Ogre Pistols
Great Weapon, Heavy Armour

Sabretusk Pack (21pts)

Rare (340pts)
Ironblaster (170pts)
Ironblaster (170pts)

My friend and owner of our FLGS is going to Adepticon this year and I'll be going as well in the hopes of just playing a few games. So I need to assemble a Display Board on top of getting all 2500pts of Ogres assembled, painted and based before March!
Something I like about fantasy is that the wysiwyg rules are different with the whole "50% of the unit must be modeled with the correct equipment". I've taken advantage of this to make my bulls unit less monotonous by modeling them with both extra hand weapons and iron fists. You can see my example about halfway down my gnoblog. Out of nine total bulls with full command, three have extra and weapons. Because the bellower and standard don't show an ironfist that's one too many, I think, but I'll be correcting it when I make more guys later.

If you want to be done by March it will happen if you commit to at least fifteen minutes a day even if you don't want to paint. Do as I say, not as I do, and your unfinished army won't to be mocking you months after they should've been on the table.
Thanks BigBossBob for the inspirational words. And more importantly for the inspirational Gnoblog! I read through yours this morning and your models look wonderful, I especially liked how you turned some left handed weapons into right handers! Hoping to have some pictures of progress later today!
If you can manage it, get a few games under your belt to test out different weapon combos. I personally wouldn't mind playing a game or two against a fella with a new army, where the models might not all be fully modeled, as it is just as important to know what you want during assembly :) Sure, someone might object, but as long as you make it clear before the game what weapons a unit has there shouldn't be that many nay-sayers :D

Can't wait to see WIP pics and painted models! :)
