Ogre V. Dwarves! Video! Fantasy League!

Hey Fellas!

So I got to the League this week and managed to get on the Evil team again. I got paired against a guy who has much more experience than I do, including a tournament or two. I have never played him, never formally met him, but I heard other players talking about him. The scuttlebutt was that he was a good player, and well respected.

He also has his own YouTube channel. I'm only his 3rd video, so he's just getting a feel for it I think. When I found out that he was going to put it on YouTube, I skipped my typical write up on here, and just waited for him to post it.

In the video, you all can see my Semi-Painted army and occasionally shots of my sweet camo shorts.

My list:

A few things to add:
1. I set up so he could only really hit my Gnoblars with his guns. My Mournfang were like 25 inches away from his guns, so he had to move to shoot them, and take a penalty.
2. With my Hellheart, Dispell scroll, and 2 IB's blowing up turn 1, I was down 415 points before my turn 1 was over... Everyone around thought I was toast at this point (including me!)
3. Our rolls were both all over the map. One winds of magic, I got snake eyes, with 1 channel, and another phase I got 11. This was just how the game went. I'm not sure who had the most luck, but I think WargeneralT would agree that both of us were very hot and cold with our rolls.

he mentions you making saving throws against his shooting attacks in the second round.  Did you get trollguts off and he didn't mention it?

Yes sir! I had troll guts up quite a bit that game.

There are several tactics about dispelling. He went with the "throw the same amount of dice as my opponent" method and it seldom worked out. So or example, if I used 4 dice to cast troll guts, he would use 4 to counter. If I used 2 dice on a fireball, he used 2 to counter. Of course, you are going for luck to dispel enemy magic, but you get more chances to counter the enemy magic.

I prefer taking a look at the enemy spells and picking 1 MAYBE 2 that I'm going to throw my dice at. Of course, if he casts 3 spells, 2 are going through without problem, but I should stop one of the 3.

Definitely; that's much the same as my philosophy regarding dispelling.  That being said, I NEVER throw the same number if I can help it.  Even if you're both sitting on a flat +4 to cast/dispel, always throw one more dice than was used to cast it.
