It's tomorrow that I shall be beginning this gnoblog (hopefully) that I have had planned for absolutely ages, as it is tomorrow that I intend to purchase my Ogre Kingdoms Battalion!
Stay tuned, as I'll be posting about my tribe's back-story, that of its characters and some pictures I've drawn up to visualise them for you.

So, the Thrymheim Tribe came about as a result of the legendary exploits of the mighty ogre Ymir, Patriarch of the Titans. It was his wanderlust and restless nature that brought him to the Frostheim Mountains in the arid North. It was at the summit of one of the mountains that he fought and defeated the tyrranical elder wyrm, Nidhogg, in battle that rent great holes into the mountainside. The resounding clamour of the struggle drew the attention of the blue skinned-Frost Ogres who came to observe the thunderstorm of a combat echoing high above in the mountaintops, and saw Ymir as a paragon of the strength of the Ogre race. With a lightning crack of a hammer blow, Ymir caved the skull of the gargantuan dragon and with that the combat ended; however, Ymir was overcome by the fatal chilling bite of the great beast. The ice spread over his body, immortalising him at the peak of the mountain where the epic battle took place, as an icy vigil, overlooking the realm of the Sky-Titans.
The gathered Frost-Ogre tribes were led by an Frost-Ogre named Thiazzi, who saw for himself Ymir's might and resultedly inhabited one of the cavernous blows in the mountainside that came about from the combat between Ogre and dragon. Thus, the tribe named its new home, 'Thrymheim', meaning, The House of Clamour, reminiscent of the thunderous struggle between warrior and beast.
FYI, got the Ogre Kingdoms Battalion today and have begun painting a test Ogre...shoulf have some photos up by tomorrow as well as some more information regarding the tribe.
Stay tuned!

Greetings, guts!
Contrary to the more typical Ogre tribes, the Thrymheim Tribe places far less emphasis on gorging and feasting, and instead, much greater consumption of alcohol takes place than in other tribes. The Butchers and Slaughtermasters are instead named 'Brewmasters'. These great ogres learn their trade from the tribe's chief Brewmaster (currently: Suttung, Heavy with Broth), who is well-versed in the creation and fermentation processes involved with the production of the tranquiliser-grade beverages that the Ogres consume on a day-to-day basis. This sagely level of knowledge was brought to the Ogres of the Frostheim Mountains from the ancient Norse Dwarf hold of Kraka Ungrim, prior to its sacking by Chaos forces. Dwarven breweries within the hold would often trade with the nomadic Ogre tribes roaming the mountains, and occasionally take one or two on as apprentices (or brew-testers, as they were known) due to their remarkable constitutions and resistance to the brain-damaging effects of the remarkably potent concoctions. Due to the Ogres' innate ability to resist the effects of alcohol, the Brewmasters must progressively work their way through their trade, constantly improving upon older recipes in order to increase their potency and therefore the rate at which Ogres become drunk. For this reason, the Brewmasters must taste all of their own creations in order to perfect them, and, given the dangerously high alcohol content of their brews, these Ogres are all but immune to the effects of even the most devastating poison, however this also renders them immune to the effects of alcohol as a whole, and as a result, the life of a Brewmaster is often a solemn and sober existence, perpetuated by an inability to ever kick back and relax in a drunken stupor...well, by any Ogre standards anyway.
So here's my test Ogre. Blue skin-tone done as to reflect the affinity for the frozen environment of the Frostheim Mountains. Favourite part about painting him is actually the extreme-edge highlighting on his skin that makes him feel more glacial and frozen in my opinion, but that's just me. Tell me what you think!

Greetings, guts!
So I played my first game of Warhammer Fantasy in about four years today - a casual game against a friend to has long since got out of the game. Having salvaged the remainders of my Battle for Skull Pass Dwarf force (still fully intact) and the Island of Blood Skaven force (missing its Warlock Engineer, conveniently replaced with an old Skaven Grey Seer I had lying about), we went about setting up our units, me having recently re-read the WHFB rules in their entirety and familiarised myself with combat and to-hit and to-wound tables etc. He was Dwarfs and I was Skaven.
My Engineer (using the lore of fire for simplicity's sake) probably did the greatest amount of damage to the bearded warriors, searing a total of around thirteen Dwarfs, next to that was the Warpfire Thrower, sending another seven to their blazing demise. While the Dwarf army tried its hardest to bring to bear the might of its war machines, their cannon missed once and then misfired the next turn, exploding spectacularly. Despite this however, my friend's force demolished mine, as the superiority of the Dwarfs' martial prowess shone through, and frankly allowed them to plow through my ranks-upon-ranks of rat-men.
Anyway, the game was very much enjoyable, and I must say, one of the most profoundly amusing experiences I've had recently. Something about the morbidity of removing seven dead rat-men from one round of shooting from Dwarf Handgunners made both me and my opponent chuckle profusely. But yes, it was very much enjoyable, and it made me hunger even more to finish my Ogre Battalion and get it onto the field, assembled and fully painted, as quickly as possible.
Stay tuned!
