Ogres, cause whats better than livin in the snow and drinking. All praise the the Great Maw. praise be to Skrag
Hmm, it's tough to tell on this one. The company is definitely going through a change, and this is a pivotal time for them post  the new website, new magazine format and release schedule change; so on the one hand it is odd the the CEO that has championed these changes is stepping down so soon. On the other hand: reading his words is a positive thing, whether he just be an amiable fellow who makes me want to like him with his writing style (probably the case) I believe that he believes what he is saying. He is staying on the board not leaving the company after all, so not exactly jumping ship...

I haven't read anything about this yet, but didn't they dump a lot of money into restructuring, the website, and if I remember correctly, Copy right related stuff? Obviously their numbers are going to be down this year. What would this mean for the company as a whole I wonder... It also makes me curious as to what went on behind the scenes leading up to this...
It would be a completely different matter were he to have not only stepped down but left the company entirely. That's not the case, as he will still be parts of the board. This sort of thing happens in the corporate world all the time.

He's championed some great changes, and he will continue to do so, but it will just be some other guy actually having executive power over what other changes happen, and the day-to-day running of the business.

I've said for a long time now, that GW is definitely a sinking ship though...

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.

And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.
Having another board member on the payroll...horay! It's great that they cut out the middle management to save money, but they are growing at the top instead of using the savings to bring prices down. :(

Edit: that's a sarcastic "horay"
Agreed. It has the distinctive feel of a sinking ship. slightly overreaching and spreading it's resources too thinly across too many game systems that are individually over-cluttered with armies they don't have time or funds to re-new.

Millions into a new website? Great.
Cutting out the middle management to save costs? Great.
Restructuring to save costs? Great.
Spending vast sums of money on copyrights? Understandable.
None of these cost cuts affecting the already bank-breaking prices? Ridiculous and irritating.

Cost of a fan base that is now irritated and being priced out of their hobby? Your business.

Y'know, if they only did a sale ONCE in a while, I'd be more interested in spending more. Honestly, if they did a "Buy one Get one half off/free" sale, they'd make SOOO much more sales. You gotta give a little to get a little more.

Also, it seems like they're hiking prices annually now... I can understand once every 5 years (via inflation), but annually? They're killing the hobby. And that's sad, because it's the only hobby I really have left lol...
