Next army book rumours

original thread ↗

Hey guys, just started this post for the next book that I've heard is an August release.  Now I have heard it will be bretonnians next . So I'm just wondering has anyone read anything to validate this, anything to add such as rumours to new units or anything . I know GW is good at keeping hush hush these days but thought IDE toss this net out and see what I can catch (+1 for fishing metaphor)

August is going to be Space Pups month. So no Fantasy until september and Hastings from Warseer has hinted that the next WHFB release is something large and Nurgly.

Darnok from Warseer doesn't think Brets are coming soon either. Probably not until december or early 2015.

That leaves us with no clue as if there is going to be a Fantasy army release before 2015 and your guess is as good as mine.

Last I heard was also something large and putrid.  Brets probably won't be getting much love for well... A while. GW almost seems to have lost interest in them... That or it may be one of the largest releases we've seen and will be an epically awesome new army... One can hope right?
Hmmm large and putrid.  Almost sounds like skaven.  And yes one can pray soon 6th edition Brett's will get some love :/

Looks like maybe some new VC stuff is next up!

Rumors from Warseer:
The end times will be coming after grey knights which means they will be going up for pre order 23rd, there will be Nagash, Nagash end times campaign book, plastic spirit host, Mannfred and nightgheist / Arkhan the black / Neferata on some undead monster plastic kit.

There will be a battle report in WD, Nagash vs Tomb kings army, Nagash fights them on his own. He is very expensive.
He can be taken in any undead army. Undead are running rampant through the warhammer world and because of this undead units can be taken in any army.

Yeah, that showed Archaon, Sigmar/Valten, Gelt, Tyrion (I think) and then loads of undead followed by a brief glimpse at 0:40 of what looked like a super liche of some kind.

Definitely will be a Nagash thing! And it sounds like he can use his Lieutenants too, with Arkhan and Mannfred in the mix. Neferata will be interesting too...

Trying to work out if he's allied with Archaon or not. 'End Times' is usually a Chaos thing, but I don't recall Chaos and Undead being particularly chummy...
Ogres - because who honestly likes 2 wound heroes?
i see myself buying WAY to many models in the near future......
Bummer.  I was hoping for an updated Skaven book.  I thought Vampires were already updated to 8th Ed.?

They are, and so are the Tomb Kings. And, in most competitive scenes (meta's not withstanding), they're already far behind the power curve. With the exception of the scream-o lists that VC field, they don't have too much they can bring to the table besides killer characters (which, in of themselves, have multiple ways of being dealt with).

So, although seeing an updated Skaven (or even BRETS who are ANCIENT lol) book would be nice, seeing the Undead forces get a bolstering can be possibly good for them. Not that I'm worried, I think Ogres are a pretty good match-up against Undead (except for their characters, of course lol).

I do quite like that almost all VC Characters are spellcasters.  Makes it hilarious when they accept a challenge from my Hellheart carrier.

I'd say Darnok's on the money and we won't see Brets until next year.  Though I wouldn't be surprised to see it as a big release, considering most of the models just aren't available any more (Questing Knights you can only buy Command, and I think Grail Knights were in the same boat or they're gone now.  Mounted Yeomen are command only, Grail Reliquae you can only buy the Reliquae not the Battle Pilgrims to tow the bastard, etc).  It'd be good to see a range refresh for Bretonnians, even if it's only so that I can put my converted Knights of the Realm back in their damned unit and run some actual Grail Knights.

The Nagash business looks like it'll be a campaign, which I am all for.  Campaigns are awesome.

As far as I can tell, out side of a few characters, if it was made of metal and was for bretonnia, you can't get it. At least not in the us. So with that said, I really think when they do come, it will be quite a big release. They could do a lot with the medieval French/Arthurian theme they've got going. I'm hoping to see some kind of knight on foot, or maybe beefing up the men at arms and Gove us some actual peasants with pitchforks. Would be cool.

But if the end times really are coming, and you can field undead in any army, I will gladly wait for brets. Campaigns truly are awesome.
If anything I could see us getting a cheaper, crappier infantry, rather than better infantry.  But for now, my fat fellows get to tromp around eating things, so I'm hardly suffering (unlike the FLGS owner, who purely runs Bretonnians)

Vamps behind the curve Sazel? From what I've seen in their book they have some horrifying options. Not to mention a lore that is seriously contending for best lore in the game... but meh, I know people who think Empire are overpowered, so what do I know  :P

Nagash might be a campaign thing, but they might release his rules for general use online - like Be'Lakor. In which case it'd be nice to have him permanently around. Always hated special units/characters that existed for one campaign, such a waste...

Yeah, It might be just a meta-thing too. The problem is that if they run the same powerful things over and over, people figure out how to counter them more easily. But, that's true of every army :P

I guess I've just played enough against VC that they don't really bring much that I'm that worried about. Other than the stupid terrorgheists, which are more annoying than scary lol... *EATCANNON* :D
