Hi All,
I might be wrong but a Tyrant is the only character with a LD equal to the Hunter and as the character with the highest LD has to be your army general and the Hunter is not allowed to be your general, does this mean if you dont have a Tyrant you cant have a Hunter?

No it means that he next highest leadership character usually slaughtermaster has to be general

Ah OK, thanks for the quick reply.
My other army is Vampire Counts and you cant have a Wight King in you army if you dont have a Vampire Lord as they have a LD9 and no other character does (with the possible exception of Kemmler), so as the Wight King isnt a magic user with vampire spell lore you cant have one in the army if the only wizard has a lower LD as the rules conflict with the BRB. I thought it would have been the same with the Hunter?

Specific trumps general, the fact that the BRB says 'highest leadership has to be general' is overridden by the character (or army) specific rules of the Hunter (specifically, 'Loner') or the VC army rule that says you general must have lore of vampires

Thanks for the replies.
What if we took army specific rules out of the equation. In the BRB it says BSB's cannot be your army general so does there have to be a character with equal or higher LD than your BSB to be the general as both rules are from the BRB? So you couldnt have a firebelly general and a bruiser BSB?
Sorry for the constant questions on this just trying to cover every angle

It doesn't have direct verbage, but I think of the rule as saying 'of the characters that could possibly be your general (aka not excluded by specific rules or bsb), you must pick the one with the highest leadership'.
So, in a hypothetical army that has a Hunter, a dwarven thane bsb and a night goblin shaman, the shaman ends up the general, because the other two aren't viable candidates for general.

and a Damsel (Ld 7) as your general

Great thanks for the clarification, must just be the Vampire counts issue due to the wording in the VC book.
Good to hear, I can go back to a firebelly General and BSB in small points games
