Mournfang tyrant?

original thread ↗

I have always thought that a Tyrant riding a mournfang would be awesome... but why isn't there anyone in the lore? can't tyrants ride mournfangs? (I mean WHY not)

Family forum people, just mind the language please
The almighty GW moves in mysterious ways  :D
Minds are like parachutes. They work best when open.
Probably because Mournfang are big, but not as big as a huge fat butt'd Tyrant. No one would be too impressed to follow Grimblatt "the fat" into battle while his Mournfang was crawling across the floor with a broken back under the weight of this huge warlord. Hardly inspiring.

They just don't, they should; but they don't.

The power level would be obscene. Imagine, not only having our MFC that rock socks, having an LD10 character-smasher on top of it; they'd be a lot harder to shift, and would easily become too much of a 'mandatory staple' in competitive lists. I'd willingly add another 50-60 points to my Tyrant to field him with a Mournfang, just to add another 4str5 attacks to every challenge he was in, too :P

It'd just be crazy. But, it'd be SOOOO worth it.

Maybe GW will make one, one day. Along with an official BSB model. :P

New book WLD: 21/11/3 - Got trounced by one of the "Khaine" elf armies... Stupid new rules...

It would be a little over powered.  Think of it, a Tyrnant with Kineater on a mournfang leading a unit of mournfang hell could chuck a crown of command for the giggles.  Suddenly you have a mournfang unit with rerollable LD 9 (or 10 if banner of disc in the unit) stubborn, rampaging across the field.

I would happily have 5 mournfangs with him minimum to see what carnage would insue.

Just a random thought.

Kind regards Zolas

I don't think it'd be that scary - remember, you'd be paying for it, for one. And it'd be a huge deathstar style thing that'd give up a lot of points to anything that can take it on - and a lot of magically buffed units could slap it up easily.

Heck, you can get Chaos Lords on Monstrous Cav. Their statline is hardly massively different.

+1 to that.  They wouldn't be that hard to deal with, still collaspse to PSun's etc.

Never know, when the prophesied 9th Edition rocks around we might find ourselves with mounted tyrants.

I think a $100 MFC/Tyrant kit would be in the foreseeable future for GW yes.  :)

It is more the fact that your mournfang would unlikely ever flee.  Which is something I have found they like to do a lot.  :D

Eagerly awaiting 9th indeed though!

If they're fleeing a lot then you either have targeting issues or you need new dice.  ;)

I've currently got over 350+ dice in my box...maybe even double that, and yet I still have to buy more dice! They can't all be bad ones surely  :P

You need to weed out the troublemaker dice, grind them into a fine powder then sprinkle them over the dice of your opponent before a game.

We're a WS3 army. The dependency on those dice is depressing. Dragonhide helps mind, but the amount of times I'm like 'Swiftstride unit, away!' and they fall over on their arses is a bit depressing.

Oh well! Elves might have lots of re-rolls, but there's not enough meat on 'em so not worth fighting anyway.
