Deneeka's Bloodied Fists

original thread ↗

This started out as just a unit of bulls for my Warriors of Chaos and a Stonehorn conversion for my warshrine, but has expanded with a battalion box now.

Stonehorn Warshrine: I'm going to have to magnetize the warshrine part so I can use it in both armies.

Really nice colours on the Stoneshrine!
Your  bulls are great, really characterful. And the Stonehorn is great I especially like the detail on the blue crystals/gems gives a subtle pop value, nicely done.
Thanks! I've been making some progress on the battalion and Golgfag, but still lots to do on them.

Also got a couple other things today. I got a Firebelly and Skrag! Just found Skrag sitting on the shelf, so I had to pick him up! :)

Wow, nice work so far. I love that deep red/ brown colour of the stonehorn. Lots to get done I see; are we assuming that you are now building a stand alone ogre army?

These guys are looking great so far, keep up the good work.

Thank you. I'm really proud of the Stonehorn. I hope I can make a base that compliments him.

I am now building a stand along ogre army, but there will be times when they're recruited by the warriors for battle. :)
I'm very impressed by your gore effects! Seems like whenever I attempt to do some I either add a bit too much or else not enough, but you've seemed to find a very nice sweet spot.

Like others have said your stone shrine is really nicely done! I was never too big of a fan of the carriers for it myself, and your idea seems to substitute for them really well. The paint job seems very crisp and well done, and I really like the color choices! :D
Thank you. I used the Blood For the Blood God technical paint and tried to keep it to the weapons/fists and then splatter it some on the bodies by using a stippling brush and pulling on the bristles to flick the paint onto the model, which gives the splattered look.
It's no good, I am going to have to ask; What colours have you used when painting that stonehorn? I am really liking the deep chestnut colour and wouldn't mind having a crack at doing that on one of my models.

G_H
Oh man, that color was mixed up and I don't remember how I made it. I think it was by mixing the Vallejo Model Air red and yellow. I then used a Army Painter Dark Tone wash over it, I believe. It was honestly just an experiment that turned out nice while I was airbrushing it.
Ahh okay! I may have to pick up some of that and give it a try myself, thanks! :)
Very visually striking army! Love the use of blood and the stone horn looks top notch :) Keep up the good work

Thanks! More has been in the works. The battalion box and Firebelly have been seeing some love and are getting closer to being done. Got 16 bases ready tonight, they'll need another layer of glue on the rocks tomorrow, but after that are ready for models to be glued on.

Had my first game tonight against my wife's High Elves. It was her first Fantasy game too, so there was a lot of learning still involved for both of us. Here's the list I ran:

1500pts

Heroes:
Bruiser - BSB, (Proxy with Golgfag), Brawlerguts, Dragonhelm
Firebelly - Level 2, Dispel Scroll, Ruby Ring

Core:
6x Ironguts - Full Command, Standard of Discipline
6x Bulls - Standard, Bellower, Ironfists
6x Bulls - Ironfists

Special:
4x Leadbelchers - Full Command

Rare:
Stonehorn

The Stonehorn and Ironguts were great. They both declared a charge against a unit of Dragon Princes, who decided it was better to flee 12inches than get run into by both of them, so they redirected (Hopefully we did this right and both units are allowed to redirect) into a unit of Seaguard. The Stonehorn did an impressive 7 wounds on impact, with the Ironguts finishing up the remaining 3 Seaguard. Then on the overrun, the Stonehorn caught the back of the Dragon Princes who ran and ran them down (Again, hopefully we did this right). My wife wasn't too happy about this and I was shocked at how much damage just those two units do together. Was a great learning game for both of us and she's already planning on how she's going to beat my army badly next time.
Decided to see what I have in force so far. It's 2873 points worth, and I have 3 Ironguts to build, and the 8 more bodies that I need to make into either bulls, characters, or find bits to make maneaters.

Lords:
Slaughtermaster - Lvl4
Skrag the Slaughterer

Heroes:
Golgfag Maneater
Firebelly - Lvl2, Great Weapon,
Bruiser - BSB, Heavy Armour, Great Weapon

Core:
6x Ironguts - Bellower, Standard of Discipline
8x Bulls - Bellower, Ironfists, Standard
6x Bulls - Bellower, Ironfists, Standard

Special:
4x Leadbelchers - Bellower, Champion
2x Mournfang Cavalry - Bellower, Heavy Armour, Ironfists, Dragonhide Banner

Rare:
Ironblaster
Stonehorn

Wow, these guys are really coming along! You seem to have got loads done...I can't wait to see your Skrag model finished. It's quite a challenging model to paint and it's always great to see everyone's interpretation of it.

keep up the good work

Looking good gotta say that the red stonehorn is amazing.

Keep Calm and Praise the Sun!
A stunning army mate! I really like your painting style. Especially the Stonehorn is amazing! :D

Can't wait to see the rest of them painted up! Keep at it! :)
