custom casters !

hello again stronghold members, as you have probably guessed from the title this thread is about custom casters , now i know that when i say im not too fond of the GW butcher/slaughtermaster model that im not alone so i decided that i would convert a caster for each lore available to the ogre army (even a firebelly) and i just finnished my last one (lore of the great maw) so i thought id share them with you guys , now they are all in various stages of development some are painted some are sprayed some are only just built and im sorry if any of them are hard to see due to my not so great camera :/ but id love to hear your guys thoughts/opinions/criticisms so without further delay here are my custom casters

from left to right: fire, beast, maw, heavens, death.

and finally the death butcher/slaughtermaster (who doubles up as a chaos maneater if i want to run a bigger unit)





there is still some work that i will be doing to one or two of these models but as always any feedback (positive/constructive or otherwise) is always accepted and appreciated

Loving these guys! They are all really cool! The Firebelly is probably my favorite! He looks utterly badass. My only critique would be the Heavens Caster. He looks a little odd without the bottom part of his weapon protruding below his hand, I'm sure that would be a real quick and easy job and would make him truly shine. Nice work though!

thanks ! adding the bottom part of that weapon was actually something i planned on getting round to at some point it does look rather strange without it haha again thanks for the gnoblar and the feedback ^_^

These are excellent! I agree with MasteroDisaster on the weapon tip, but other than that, great job! You can tell that each of these casters belongs with its appropriate school of magic.

What bit(s) did you use to create the Firebelly's flame breath? That's probably my favorite part of it all.

Yep Heavens caster is seriously lacking base of the weapon shaft. Without that it would be virtually impossible to hold the weapon like he is. I also think he is the only one who doesn't really look magical. You've painted him magically, but other than the bits on his shoulders, he could be a normal ogre.

The others however, I adore!

Sazel, looks like the bits on the fire belly are from the burning chariot from the daemons models. Please correct me if im wrong though.

great work on these, i plan to do something like this myself as i love the idea of having the caster looking like he follws his chosen lore.

Thanks for the feedback guys ill be sure to take every bit on board , im currently routing through my bits box for a suitable bottom for the weapon so that should be fixed soon enough , yes jack o strap you are 100% correct that is the burning chariot flame , one thing I did want your guys opinion on is the maw butcher as this was my first ever venture into using green stuff and messing around with joints such as the hand holding the heart and the pointing arm

But once again thanks for the feedback guys its always nice to hear the communities opinions ^_^

The Firebelly is my favorite too.  Really nice job!

I think your GS looks fine on the Maw caster, hard to tell in the picture though.  Either way, paint makes Green Stuff work look so much better than just primer.
