Well, I dunno if you'd be interested in this, but you can try something slightly different.

Drop the Slaughtermaster, and turn your one unit of Leadies into 3 units of 4 Leadies with a musician in each of them. With that much firepower on the field you'll be able to clear all the chaff that could hinder your Gutstar. I'd also drop one Irongut off the Gutstar (to make it 12 models total w/characters, which is a good size and doesn't have any wasted one-off models in the unit).

If my calculations are correct, that should give you an extra 102 points (or, 103, since your list is currently 1999). With that, you can afford another 3 Ogres with AHW and a champion at 103 points. 13Str4 attacks in another chaff unit is very solid.

So, by dropping one character, one Leadie off the 5-pack and one Irongut, you get another, oh, 10-11 models on the field? Sure, the lvl4's nice, but honestly, you really had nothing to enhance with its Gut Magic. I think, if played correctly, you'll get a lot more bang for your buck (literally) from the extra leadbelchers.

Also... I'm dropping the Champ and the Gleaming Pennant off of your MFC. With this list, keep your MFC next to your Gutstar (and in the LD bubble) and use them to grind out any T3 hordes that might tarpit your Gutstar. Taking those points off, I'll add the Standard of Discipline to your Ironguts, giving you an LD9 Gutstar and an LD8 bubble (from the Firebelly). That extra one helps!

If you really want the MFC to have the champ, though, you can drop the champ off the Bulls (same cost for champs all around, quite convenient!).

The list with my suggested alterations (only suggestions, mind you, you do w/e you want):

Firebelly - Gear You Listed - 159
BSB - Gear You Listed - 184

10xIGuts - FC, Std. of Discipline - 475
3xBulls - AHW, Champ - 103

4 MFC - HA, IF, mus, std - 300
3x4 Leadbelchers - mus each - 182x3 - 546
3x1 Sabretusks - 21x3 - 63

Ironblaster - 170

TOTAL - 2000pts.

---

Hope this helps somewhat! Keep in mind that our lords are REALLY expensive, and you can get a lot of foot troops on the field for the same cost as one of our lords.
33 Gnobs! Over 3 Packs of Trappers! Woot!

I like your thinking. i have considered something like this for a long time but it allways comes down to me thinking i need a lvl 4 caster for dispels and such. and regarding the gutstar reduction my thinking was getting extra wounds for crossing the table.  but please explain why this isint needed im happy change it up.

my thoughts were to fix the gaping magic hole would be to put in a butcher with that +1 to dispel netting me a lvl 3 caster?
ongly thing i am worried about is lacking the crown of command. otherwise i can see where this is superior to what i  suggested.

Good list. The only thing I might alter there is to change the 3x4 leadbelchers to 2x6 since they're pack a bit more punch in both melee and shooting, but that's just a preference thing.
Well, I usually run 10 IGuts with 2 characters, or 9 IGuts with 3 characters. I find that in most circumstances I can get my guys across the field to have good fighty potential with these amounts. Unless you get purple sun'd, of course, but nothing can stop that :P

12 Ogre bodies are hard to chop through with magic/shooting. Plus, for the first couple turns they may focus on your auxillaries and simply try to chaff up the Gutstar. Which is where the Firebelly's breath comes in handy :P

Crown of Command? Yeah... I like it :) who doesn't? But, I bet, if you play the game strategically enough (and don't let your Gutstar get double-charged), you don't need the Crown. It's really more of a clinch back-up item, just in case something doesn't go to plan. I'm actually considering not using it for the time being, to force myself to play smarter and overall better. That way, I will hopefully almost never put myself into a situation where I need the stubborn!

As for Trample, I guess that's true. I like having 4packs because they tend to have enough good firepower for me, and you can still technically target them all at the same unit. My thing about making them fight better in CC is that, honestly, once they're in CC, they're pretty much lost anyways no matter how many bodies they have :P If you keep them at 4packs, your opponent has to go through three combats (ish) to try and clear them off the field... if they don't magic/shoot them down, that is. :P But yeah, it's a matter of preference, and there's value in having the extra couple bodies in the unit.
