Discworld Ogre Army

]I have recently been doing a High Elf army but have been itching to do more converting than the army allows. The Elves I still want to add too but for now  I want to do some greenstuffing!
I have always done bits and bobs of converting in armies but for this ogre list I want to do every model
I had looked at a few themes but have recently been reading the Discworld books again and thought this might give me the lots of scope for different things.








 I am mainly looking at the art of Kirby for the basis for a lot of the conversions and decided to start on a quite generic guardsmen from The Watch.



This first attempt has a few issues...I did the feet and then added the sandals which have made the feet a little oversized...the armour plates not great but in general did seem to capture the look I was after. Decided to do an xhw option with his hunk of meat and breakfast in a frying pan...although hes dropped an egg.







Any comments and advice  more than welcome

Rag this is looking terrific!  I need to stop being such a wimp and start being more ambitious with the green stuff.

Wow thanks for all the feedback guys very encouraging!. Thought was a not dreadful idea and glad some people agree. Really enjoying looking at each idea for the models. I want to do another tester/early attempt and have decided on Reg Shoe. Wanted something that wasnt The Watch to further test the idea. Going vaguely from this pic.






Couple of things are that I wanted to try the feet again and thought Reg had the option for one missing shoe. Also he has to have a weapon. At the end of the day it has to be an army ultimately people would play against. Could have used Reg from Night watch when hes in the Watch but fancied this more "iconic" pic.
Hes very rough at the moment but what do you think?

Very cool indeed!  I like the detail like the rags.  Really looks good.  I will look forward to seeing him painted.

cheers guys . I maybe fancy that undead club as a msu of bulls. I have decided to add the pavement edge and an overflowing drain to this one but I think that needs a little more work. This is how Reg Shoe is looking at the moment...very much wip at the moment.

He'd almost have to be either a Stonehorn or Giant, just so he's the right size, comparatively. I'd be leaning to Stonehorn, so that he's got the Siege Crossbow/Harpoon Launcher. You could almost get away with making him an Ironblaster, since he does use an equivalent of grapeshot in his crossbow.

yes hes one of the ideas for the ironblaster of stonehorn. The problem may be the scale. Had a look at the Idol of Gork model who could fit the bill with a xbow added.

Unbelievably, I think that the Idol of Gork will be much too big. It looks like it's somewhere between 25-50% taller than a regular giant. I'm not sure what the options are though, maybe a LotR Troll would work.....with some widening and roughing up.

yes thats my scale worry. I agree I think its too far. The troll should prob be to one of the ogres what an ogre is to a man. Its a way off as want some of the core ones done to improve the greenstuffing! Ironblaster could end up being Windlepoons wheelchair yet!

Loving your progress. The theme is a great one.

Bang on the money. At the moment I have a wip Librarian and Mr Ixotile. The ape will be a gorger and Mr Ixotile will join Reg Shoe. Hoping to get one done over the next week
