Sure, i'll do a little run down after this. Ld8 gets a little tricky sometimes to manage. For me it was all about minimizing the risks of panic checks and of course the bsb being right there.
Game break down. my memory is pretty bad but i'll try and remember it all for you guys.

Game 1: Lizardmen. 20-0 win for me.

His army included: Engine of the gods, Bastilidon, lord on carni, 2 saurus units, fair few skinks,lvl2 mage, and a big unit of coldones which was his main hammer and a few odds and ends thrown in there. (no lvl4)

Problem started for him during deployment. He deployed his saurus block on the left flank, his carni lord on the extreme right flank. BSB and units in the middle. I didn't have a shot due to terrain against his carni lord so i aimed up his engine and naturally failed to wound. Basically what happened in a nut shell. i fed his carni a sabre for the game and that's all he got. My ogre core defeated his core comprehensively. My 4 maneaters with dragon banner got the charge off on his cold ones with a gut charge and it was all over. I got the cleaning crew out to finish the game up. he had one unit of skinks and his carni left at the end of the game.

Game 2: Wood Elves. 5-15 Loss for me.

2 big units of wild riders, 1 big unit of sisters, 3-4 units of archers, 2 eagles,1 warhawk rider unit, way watcher unit, glade rider unit, lvl 4 shadow, lvl 4 death both in the sisters unit. probably missing something. This was against an great player. Used his vanguards and terrain really well. Basicallly locked my two big units in between a lot of impassable terrain, where i couldn't move or i'd be charged by big units of wildriders. All the time while sending purple suns over the terrain to delete units at a time. only so many i could stop before i started losing lots of models. In the end my hunter on stonehorn got all the points for me getting charges off 3D3 impact hits was usually enough to win each of the combats. He played really well flee'ing through impassable terrain with his archers so i couldn't catch them with my hunter. i got some points.. BSB held on turn 6 on a ld test of 5 to save me a few more points.

Game 3 Chaos Dwarves 16-4 win to me.

This was a hard match up for me despite the end result. Lvl 4 flying special character, 4 warmachines, two big blocks of dwarves, 4 bull centaurs w/ character and a few other units.

It wasn't a great start for me. I lost around 5-6 ogres and a thundertusk turn 1, My cannon failed to wound his flamecannon. I failed to charge with 2 units despite odds being in my favor (Man eaters 12 inches away from Cannon swiftstride.. fail.) at my magic phase rolling snakeeyes.. My opponent was very comfortable he even bought me a beer as my luck just wasn't there. It was a lucky beer! So i came back hard. Man eaters got the next charge off against the flank of hellcannon with gut charge, slapped that and over ran nicely to set up a rear charge.  he moved his dwarves a little close and both big ogre units got charges off and made a mess of his units. My hunter with the 4 ogre unit grinded down his bull centaurs w/character unit. they just kept passing their tests.. *shakes fist* in the end his flying character (with no mount) and irondaemon was left. he passed his 4+ ward save turn 6 to stop my ironblaster removing his lord.

Game 4, Day 2, All mounted High elf list 10-10 draw

Tough match up for me... no stomps on his whole army. Frost phonix, a couple of chaff units,2 big units of 15 silverhelms, 1 big unit of 12ish Dragon Princes with 3 characters and banner of world dragon on it. He had 2x lvl4's. So magic was balanced. hit the frost phonix first turn.. wounded.. he failed his save... but i only did 1 wound. I had nothing that could stop his big unit of dragon princes they ran over my hunter, thundertusk and my 4 ogre unit. In the end of this blood bath of a game my maneaters got a ogre charge on a unit of silverhelms and won combat easily and broke them which was a great win for me. In the end i divided my big unit up to pull characters out so i wouldn't lose them all when he charged in with his D/princes. I fled 11 inches and he failed to run me down...in the end it was a brutal game but ended up being a 31 point win for the high elves making it a 10:10 draw. My unit of 8 ogres grinded down the frost phoneix over 4 turns.

Game 5 Slaneesh Daemons 14-6 win

This was a slaneesh daemon list and watch tower scenario. Two big units of 'nettes, 4 fiends, 2 Seeker Chariot of Slaanesh one had a character on it, small seeker unit, some flamer chaps, and of course a keeper of secrets. i used the watch tower in the middle to cover my right flank of my two big units. and just waited/hoped for him to move his 'nettes units up a little to close to get a charge off. over on the left flank my hunter failed a charge against a chariot he should make 9/10 times and sat up nicely.. my maneaters had been charged by a lucky charge from seekers and a small unit of 'nettes. I had written them off. Next turn: chariot charged my hunter/stonehorn the impact hits didn't hurt but the poison over a few turns was grinding them both down. Man eaters somehow managed to defeat both units and was left with my 4 maneater unit being 2 models. I turned and charged the chariot to help out my hunter who was left on 2 wounds himself and the stonehorn on 3. My right flank was screwed. I fed the 4 fiends a puppy and kept them largely out of the game however the greater daemon and chariot and flammers took their toll. With boosted magic and nifty placements of my thundertusks i mitigated the ASF bonuses and knocked off his daemon in combat then slowly got his chariot down. it cost me my 8 man unit of ogres but it was worth it. My main block of ogres destroyed his big units but couldn't get back in time to defend the watch tower. his only remaining unit being the Fiends had enough movement to get into the building getting the additional 500 points and his 6 points. Bit of controversy surrounding that last move. I didn't do a march block test for my dog who I moved to block the move into the building. when i went back i failed the test but we couldn't determine if i was within 12 of my bsb (i was very confident he was in however i'm a nice chap) we 4+'d it and i rolled a 3 to not move the dog. an interested game however.

Game 6 mixed Daemons 20-0 win

He had a Tzeentch greater daemon, lots of 'nettes, another character, some khone jugga's, skullcannon, 3 units of horrors, soul grinder, lvl2 caster flying around, 2 units of screamers and some furies as well as 4 or 5 beasts of nurgle. First things first my hunter cleared up some chaff took out some screamers and furies but kept out of charge archs by terrain and my unit of 4 ogres acting as a diverter. The big unit of ‘nettes fell for the bait and charged my ogres. I took the charge knowing I would lose and break but was comforted by the fact that I had my big ogre unit with two characters , hunter and man eaters all standing by within 10 inches. I was helped out this turn by nurgle who decided to slap every Tzeentch unit on a roll of 6.. he rolled it 5 times taking a wound of his greater daemon and killing his lvl 2, a few wounds off harpies etc etc.
My cannon took out soul grinder first turn, and my two ‘t-tusk’s were taking pot shots at the lord getting a few wounds off him which intern forced him to charge my unit of 8 ogres who were locked in combat with Nurgle beasts. Normally my ogres would be slapped, but with the right buff’s they were not only hanging in, but winning combats. Making the beasts reroll 6’s was really hurting him, while I was rerolling 1’s to win the combats. As soon as the greater daemon was in combat I was directing 4 ogres onto him every turn taking 1 wound off each round. I had the thundertusk nearby to ensure both beasts were ASL and the greater daemon was not rerolling hits. His cannon took one ‘t-tusk out but exposed himself to my cannon who got lucky and 1 shot him the following turn. When we called the game at turn 4 or 5, I had lost 1 t-tusk and 1 sabretusk and he had 1 unit of horrors left on the table.

Bit of a long write up with no real definitative game plans haha sorry.
Thank you sir!!  Awesome outcome.  Did the thundertusks generally hang around the ogres?

Game 5 - remember that the sabre tusk can't use generals inspiring presence or the bsb's hold your ground special rules.

was the tournament rockhammer in Ringwood Victoria Australia
Ogres, cause whats better than livin in the snow and drinking
Yep; rockhammer.

Re: thundertusk's- it really depends on what army I was facing. Majority of infantry I'm happy for them to be on front line. When I make an enemy unit reroll 6's he hardly gets wounded. However all cav lists he sticks behind my unit of 8, 1 inch behind to cover the front rank of any incoming charge. Once the initial charge has gone down I manoeuvre him around or keep him in place for ASF enemies.

Having two shooting attacks that do D3 wounds at str6 is really handy but not something you'd put your house on to change/win you a game.

Re: sabre's thanks- have missed that one. Resolves all potential issues! :)
That's great dkou thanks for the explanation.

Lastly, how did you rate the Hunter/Stonehorn?

How would you modify the list to 2400/2500?

I love my hunter/stonehorn combo. Takes so much to take him down.  I deploy him out on a wing and he chomps up everything in his way. Turn 5-6 he charges in to win the combat for the big blocks or if he gets the right flank charge off he can lay waste to large units of infantry. 3D3 impact, 4 Str5 ASF and a t-stomp gets pretty good res. The other thing with the hunter is he's good point denial.

While the hunter is great for me; you have to look at the negatives of having him. No firebelly, no butcher. for roughly the same points you could have a butcher for the tax and big unit of mornfang.

For my 2400 list i drop the butcher (keep the lvl4 but back to maw naturally), drop a t-tusk and adjust my ogre units back to 9 and 8.

I have another tournament next month with my 2400 list. I normally come middle of the field due to it not being a soft comp friendly tournament pack. :)
Is that other tournament Convic if it is i'll see you there, i'll be the guy on the bottom tables

Around 12-18 months Jimmy, but all the fundamentals of game play are the same throughout many armies.

I'll be at Convic most likely DrunkenAussie, Depends on the snow season. :)

The 2400 list came 29th out of 130 at CanCon in Canberra (australia) this year with 2x 0:20 losses.
I really do love the list mate, very inspiring to see something out of the box.  Tell me about the losses however and is be keen to know outside of the usual lore of death what are the weaknesses of your list?

Losses:

This list can have some pretty rough match ups. two major ones are: heavy shooting and heavy cav.

All Cav: 2+ or 1+ save lists i struggle against. I just don't have the high strength outside the stonehorn and characters. Its common place in tournaments in Victoria to see units of 10-15 heavy cav and sometimes multiple lists.
Bonecrusher helps as well as using your pups correctly you can get the charge off and with impact hits you're set. But on the flip side if they get off the charge and you dont have any augmentation to mitigate wounds (trollguts, +1 toughness, reroll 6's, -1 to hit or a combo etc) you're in trouble.. With my list losing a combat by 2 means you're on ld6 with a reroll.
Important to note:  planning for charges and augmenting your troops can be a useful weapon at forcing opponents to charge a less desirable target.

heavy shooting lists: (dwarves, empire, high elves, ogres) any army that can take out your ironblaster and take a wound or 6 off your t-tusk in turn one you will struggle against. This is an army of synergies if you lose something early its hard to make back and cover the big gaping hole in your list.

Worst game i've had was against a dwarven gun line and my hunter was the only one to get across the board and get some points but couldn't take out the big blocks of great weps. twin cannon, twin organ gun and two units of thunderers will wreck most ogres hobby.

That said its not the internet list; its enjoyable for both me and my opponent.

Fantastic.  Ever thought about a block a 6 ironguts or even 4 just to have a bit more flexibility ?

yeah ive given it a bit of thought trading in the unit of 8 ogres for a unit of ~6 i-guts. something to take into account for future lists :)
Can you tell me how much each unit costs?
Points wise

And what spells?

Im new to the game so......
Hi Beasties,

I wont go through the whole armies point cost as im sure its illegal ;)

As a whole: the ogre armies are expensive p/model for point costs due to the overall toughness and multiple wounds of the whole army.

Just pop down do your local store and pick up an army book or buy a digital copy.

Matt
I have 2 questions about your list

I like your list but
- why do you prefer regular ogres over ironguts?? Dont u lack strengh? because with a pack of 8 and 4 you could easily get 9 ironguts
- how do you avoid to loose your hunter on canon shots? Do you hide him all game ? Exemple: vs empire with 2 or 3 canon same for dwarves or deamons...

I would think Ogres are preferred over the Ironguts simply for the Thundertusks synergy with each unit.  Currently the only model in the army that strikes last is the Slaughtermaster.

Also on the Hunter you have to be aware that the Stonehorn itself takes half wounds from cannons and more than likely the Hunter will Charmed Shield the first hit anyway.  Granted it will probably be removed if an enemy has 2-3 cannons but this army has a few answers to those:

Scouting Maneaters
Lore of Heavens
Ironblaster
Thundertusk shooting
Harpoon Launcher

Just some thoughts however I'm sure the master himself will chime in.  :)

Hi guys,
Sorry for the delay in the reply. I'll try and structure the reply best i can. Reiterate Jimmy a bit here too :)

@fromagefondu

* I prefer ogres over ironguts because they're not used often. As Jimmy said the synergy works well with t-tusks as well. I can attack in 2 ranks 25 str4 attacks before my opponent can take a swing.
* My hunter never hides first 4 turns he's just an angry lad. He has hidden in turn 6 once or twice as to save his points. Due to the Stone horn's natural ability to half wounds and the hunters charmed sheild people tend to shoot other targets first. Its all target saturation. On the stonehorn hunter is almost always in combat turn 2.

I almost always get the +1 to decide who gets first turn. That results in me trying to eliminate a cannon/stonethrower. Thundertusks are suprisingly good at shooting out cannons/bolt throwers that only have 3 wounds with two ranged weps that do D3 wounds. I usually target the major threat with the cannon. then use hunter & both t-tusks to either finish off the target if required or start picking on a new target as a group.

Man eaters help a fair bit as people have to plan on dealing with them turn 1 with no respite. With a 35.6% chance to get: 4xD3 str 5 impact hits and 20 str 5 attacks at str5 all re-rolling to hit/wound people need to mitigate the damage asap.

Happy to answer more Q's
