In todays Meta how important is the Banner of Eternal Flame is it a necessity or does the flaming attacks on firebelly cut it.

I use on often on my ME with guns to take down Chimeras and beasts of nurgle, but that is just what roams in my club.
What armies by now packs regen?
OnG; trolls VC; terrorgeist, crypt horrors, the mortis engine Daemons; nurgle stuff WoC; trolls, Chimera, spells, Skaven: Abomb Ogres: Spells. Tomb Kings: 6+ here and there.
Lore of life; the siganture spells.
I am not sure if you truly need it - it can really go both ways. Lots of units now pack a natural flaming attack and most armies pack the 2++ flame ward characters.

I love the DHB on my mournfang. It costs a pretty penny but the rerolling ones is incredible (and do not forget the breath weapon). I like the flaming banner on ME. Pistols or close combat it gives them a great punch with the tougher units.
So for me it will probably always be DHB over Flame, if I can find the pts that is.

Flaming banner is best used on Maneaters really. They can shoot and throw in poison to tear a monster up, and they tend to be focused on getting the charge anyway.
Mournfang are similar, but benefit far more from the Dragonhide Banner and people tend to focus on them more. Sometimes can be more cumbersome too.
Ironguts are usually a solid block unit that will often end up against another solid block, one that normally has characters who can take that 2+ ward.
Ogres - because who honestly likes 2 wound heroes?

How could I forget... : )
I often also use a 6-pack of ironguts with the flame banner... then with some luck the 3 S5 impact hits can strip regen. It works best for combo charging into an on-going battle : )

Tomb Kings have a very cruddy 6+ regen for the Hierophants unit as well as Necrotect granting it to Animated Constructs with 12".

Chuck Norris was the fourth wise man and gave Jesus his favorite gift, a beard. The other wise men were so hacked off, they got Chuck Norris removed from the bible. Mysteriously, they all later died of Roundhouse kick related injuries.

Dragonhide banner is better on mournfang because:
1) Mournfang has better armor saves. So a larger percentage of failed armor checks will be re-rolled. 2) Mournfang have better movement and swiftstride so are easier to get the charge. 3) Mournfang on the charge tend to have more attacks per point. So more attacks to reroll ones.
Only reason I'd give ME the DHB banner over MF if I want to give MF a different banner. Like banner of swiftness for a really crazy charge range. Or gleaming pennant for the ld reroll due to their low leadership.

Personally, on my meta, flaming only matters on 10% of the games I play. So I usually don't bring the flaming banner ever.
