Totally 100% Stolen Maneater Idea

I'm starting a modelling diary for my Ogre Maneaters. I've stolen the idea to take a box of ogre bulls and convert them to appear as members of other armies (OMG, What an Original Idea ™ That Has Never Been Done Before) (inb4hat8rs)

This will be my first journey into using Green Stuff, so expect some pretty tragic failures.

So far I've decided on:

Dwarves: Ogre Giant-Slayer
Tomb Kings: Ogre Mummy
High Elves: Ogre Seaguard (With repeating bolter strapped to his back)
Skaven: Ogre one-man (one-ogre?) Warp-Thrower Team

Anyone want to throw in ideas for other races?

The Giantslayer is finished, other than his weapons, I need to either find some nice axes I can steal or scratch build them, which I am not looking forward too.

That looks excellent, I'd be really proud of that. How were you planning to model the skaven maneater?

Going to take the weapon from the IoB kit and hack it off the Skaven, make a tank for his back using barrels, and attach it via some green-stuff hose.  I want to make a skaven style gas mask as well for him, if I can get my head around it.

Looks great ive been given some milliput, is that the same/as easy to use as green stuff? im thinking of venturing into the world myself so i will be very interested in following this, although if thats your start then this will be great!

How about a beastman maneater, maybe minotaur (not too original i bet) id prefer to see a full on beastman maneater if its possible

Trick-or-treating Maneater (VC Maneater)
Maneater with wings and horns aka Daemon Prince Maneater (Guess  )

Haha put an ogre on a normal horse and you have a maneater playing at being a Bretonnian knight 

Henning:  I'd considered the bark armour, could be an interesting one to try.  I'll do up some trials of it today see how it comes out.

Jock o strap:  Be too hard to get the horrified/pained look on the horses face right!  

I haven't played with milliput myself, but from what I have read its harder to work with, being stickier, but it sets a lot harder.  This can, however, make it brittle.  I plan on getting some for the project as well (Maybe even today) and will let you know how it goes.

How will you address the Axes?

I'd like to see more Chaos Dwarves. But then I like to see more CD all the time.

Currently trying to get my hands on 2x 2H axes from the Dwarf Warrior kit, which I will bash into shape for him to wield one in each hand.  Plan would be to drill out the weapons from 2 current ogre hands, and remove the dwarf hands from the axes.  Then its a pretty simple job to get the axes into their hands. 


If I can't get them then I will scratch build using plasticard and sprue bits, but I'm really hoping to avoid that.

Skaven and VC maneaters are pretty easy to do. Skaven can be done with a rat ogre and VC...well, just bung a Dracula cape on the dude with a waistcoat and he's done.

Yeah step ahead, had a quick look last night, but some real nice work

Tomb Kings half done.  His painting is obviously only just started, but I wanted to get the base down early.  Still planning a golden ankh medallion and a TK style shield either strapped to his back, worn as a gut shield, or carried by a Gnoblar.

Biggest challenge here was the right hand.  I had to take a sword hand, cut the sword off, drill out the shaft, cut off the fingers, and reglue them facing forward, then use the bandage to hide the ugly hack job I did :p

TK looks fantastic you have done a top job with that, fully painted he will look amazing!

He's looking good so far mate will be ace when fully done might have to nick the idea too

Ha, your TK Mannie's looking good! I feel like his skin should be a bit more pale or pallid though (in the final draft, of course!) Unless, he's only trying to "look" like a mummy and attempting to fit in with a TK force

I also absolutely love your idea of the Bret Mannie with a stick-horse! That'd be flippin' hilarious!

Keep up the concepts! This Maneater-theme is one that can easily be done in multiple styles, so it's not really that much of a "stolen" idea (you can thank my sticky-fingered gnoblars for that justification lol)

Regarding milliput: I work with it a lot.  I really like it.  The best part about it is the price.  You get 10 times as much for the same price as green stuff, and it works great once you figure it out.

And you dont have to worry if you mess something up.  You can just break off the bad part and try again without feeling that you just threw away $10.

Not sure what happened with the image quality here, but will try to get better ones later.

Introducing:  Bretonian, complete with toy horse.





And the command group is coming along well, need to finish the pennant for the Bretonian (Standard Bearer), shield for the Tomb King Bellower, and Axes for Dwarf Giantslayer Commander.

That is one awesome looking unit, characterful and impressive!
