Favorite Army Book.

original thread ↗

Just like the title, what is/was your favorite WFB army book ever and why.
You shall fear the warppuppies for the warppuppies have teeth and are hungry, and forsooth they have decided that thy are crunchy and taste good with ketchup
Of the ones i have read i would have to go with either the High elves or OnG
Armies played : Ogre Kingdoms
Record in 8th:       W / D / L
Ogre Kingdoms:    4 / 0 / 6
Definitely Brets for me. The fluff section is amazing, a great story of these knights roaming about kicking chaos in the teeth. I couldn't put it down.
The Bret book. It has literally stood the test of time. If it was a person it would now almost be old enough to go to a GW and play a game.

I liked the (White Dwarf presents...) Chaos Dwarfs army book. The fluff was good in it.

I guess that we are really talking about fluff as other-wise it's just a rule book.

When they split the undead book into TK and VC that opened up lots more room for fluff especially for the VC. Quite like their book.

Skaven book is a good read (for fluff) too. Never read beastmen so can't comment and the Brets book just bores me to tears.

I have always like the various versions of the Orcs and Goblins army books, they have always been funny and entertaining. Although it's not WFB as such, I loved the freebooters book for 40k Orks; that had some (very long winded but) mad rules for weirdboys/ oddboyz in it. Ahhhhh......them were the days.

I liked the fluff of the older Ogre army book. I kinda wished they had expanded more upon it in the newer book, as opposed to having 20 something wasted pages of "painted ogre ideas" in the middle. I know they don't have too much fluff to work with, but I'd love to see it expanded and given more depth, including some more noteworthy tribes or wars or something! :P
33 Gnobs! Over 3 Packs of Trappers! Woot!
Gibblet, Nibblet, Crunchybit (from Slaughtermaster achievement)

New book WLD: 20/10/2 - Yay tourney wins and random game win!

Tomb Kings.  More so now in 8th because they're seen as so under powered.  I love the ancient Egyptian feel to them.

Ogre Battles!

Tactica: Sabretusks
Tactica: Gnoblars
I really like the previous VC book (actually I think it may be two ago) as I liked how they split the bloodlines and had a neat story that went with each one.

I also really liked the Dogs of War because I love the Tilea fluff and the mercenary armies, every entry having a funny story with their slogan was a nice touch I thought!
I would have to go with the old Ogre army book as it was the first army book I bought and it had the best fluff material, the disection page was one of my favorites.

Keep Calm and Praise the Sun!
So many to choose from :P

I probably can't choose one to be my actual favourite, as so many are so great, but here goes:

Empire: The underdog of the world. I've always enjoyed the idea of having your regular man take up arms against mythological nightmares and other creatures. The fluff is nice, and the descriptions of the different City States has been taken into account as well. If only there would be more unit choices that reflect the City States...

Tomb Kings, like Jimmy said, portray the Egyptian feel and culture very well. I've always liked Ancient Egypt (and Rome for that matter), so that's nice :) Similarly, like G_H mentioned, the VC book with all the different Bloodlines and their culture and actions.

Bretonnia is a definite favourite due to fluff in it and it has stood the test of time quite well. And after all, who doesn't like Knights! :D

To top it off, the Skaven book is amazing. I love the fluff for the entire race and the book portrays this very well! :D

You seem to be challenging me for the title of Smiley Overlord with all your smileys
I'm gonna have to vote brets on this one. I think I read the fluff at least 100 times. The OnGs have always had good fluff to though.. I like ogres, but their fluff just isn't quite as good as some of the others.
