Well yesterday I went to a tournament. I was there last year and I really liked it. Nice armies and not too many overpowered army. Well now this year.
First round against a very nice chap wih a bretonnian army. Now I know wat RAF means. Three units of peg knights and a big unit of knights of the realm. I got a massacre against me and couldn't do anything. I might got a minor loss out of it but then there wouldn't be any combat at all. No real mentionable things.
Second round against a goblins army. He had four wizards, 3 units nightgoblins with fanatics and nets and some other stuff. Also a nice guy, but he even brought powerstones to his 12 powerdice+boundspell migic phase. After all they only killed the none combat units and my giant and I didn't get his great shaman and one unit of night goblins. I won with a minor here. things to mention: I can predict what fanatics can do! there were five fanatics around my general's unit and he said, your going to get hurt. I said:"no, you're going to roll doubles" 4 got indeed doubles and the other got so far away, I couldn't care less about the fanatic.
third battle was a battle how I like it. A very fun game with a very nice player. He played orcs and goblins. He had 2 mages: one orc, one goblin, a orc general with runefang and a goblin fighter. one unit of night goblins, a unit savage big uns and two units boarboyz. a giant doomdiver and a rocklobba and two chucka's. In the second round I charge his goblins, so he lost a mage and a hero and rolled up my left flank where he had one chucka his doomdiver and his giant. In the end I won wih 398 points, 2 points short of a minor victory, so I had a draw.
Afterthought: I saw a Bret RAF, a wood elves two treeman army, an empire army with a steamtank, flaggelants and a waralter( three unbreakable units), 4-mage armies. I felt a bit like I brought a knife to a gunfight.
So I'll see in a month how I think about this then, but at this point I'm looking to get a cheddar army just for these tournaments. The point was here, that when GW as a tournament here you have restrictions, which make playing more fun

The results are on their site and I came in 14th out of 28 Pretty good considering I got a minor victory and a draw ( okay and a massacre against) I got 18 out of 25 softscore, that is nice for me.

Another tournament has passed.
This tournament is the Battle of the Clubs. The tournament is not a regular tournament. You enter as a team and your scores are counted together. When you have more hen 3 members in your team playing, the captain must decide which member is a scoring player. The set up is Swiss system, so there's nothing different.
Before my (short) batreps I must say, our team didn't do that good, but the daywas very fun.
First battle was against a very friendly player with vampire counts. He had a big block of knights and a Strigoi L3
High lights of the game: My furies beat a unit fell bats, a unit gouls and a unit dire wolves in one combat and after that they killed a necromancer ( a vampire hero thingy) Low lights of the game: My warhouds pass a panic test on 5! and therefor my chosen knights are killed by his black knights. My giant hits the strigoi hero out of a unit and because of that he stays alive.
The end was 200 points more for him: a draw Wonderful game and a wonderful player.
Second game was against dwarves, with a capture scenario. He had amongst other things: iron breakers and warriors with he lord with rune of kingship.
He put his ironbreakers very fast(for dwarves then) next to the objective. His left flank had his shooters and he won that side very fast. My hounds were holding back to get the objective in the last turn.
Lowlights: He captured all my four banners: Highlights: His ironbreakers pursued a unit ( willingly) and so I captured the objective. Thanks to that: a draw.
Third battle was hilarious My opponent had a skaven army with 2 warlocks, a warlord and a plague priest. 3 ratling guns and a unit jezzails and of cours some blocks.
Low lights of the game: He rolled a lot of 10 hits with his ratling guns. High lights: We ended with 7 models on the board! My general(halve points) and 2 warhounds his warp lightning cannon and 3 ratling guns. I won with 31 points due to banners. This was a very fun game and I'd do it all over again. This was my idea of playing a battle. Almost no models on the board at the end and a vry fun player. A draw again.
So with three draws I became the best scoring player of the team, because som had a massacre, but didn't do anything after that. It was a very fun day and now up to the GT

I trained my GT atmy yesterday against a wood elves army. It wasn't the hardeest army I've seen, but it was okay.
The feeling I got from the game was very good, because in the beginning all dice went his way ( 7 out of 10 on a 5+ wardsave) but there wasn't a wood elf on he table after my turn 4 ( I started)
Moment of the battle was, when my giant forced an initiative test on his treeman ancient, and he failed. That was a stck of wood and the bigger part of his army dead.

Always fu nto see people sticking it to the treehuggers, but that was an espescially nice sounding end.
Thanks Corai
Ashamed I didn't think of it before, I've renamed my Pet Gnoblar's Hannibal, Face, B.A., Murdock and Sam & Al Quincy, Doctor Sloan and Horatio

I agree Corai Treemen, give the same satisfaction as steamtanks.
So the GT is coming up: 2200 poinst of khorne lovers going to Tilburg with a goal. The list is about the same as my 2k list but without the marauder horsemen and with a unit of beastherd and a beastlord.
I have to do some things now: - Reposition one of my Minotaurs, to get them all four lined up nicely. - One of my markers has fallen of its base, so I have to get it up there again. - Create a 500 points list (and the nice army list for it) for the evening bash. - Reprint my army lists because of the changes. - set up everything to be done by thursday (no risks)
Advantages for this tournament against others I've went to: I don't have a party or friends coming over the day before ( I had a 100% record of going to tournaments hung over in 2006) The list also doesn't have any surprises for me.
The scenario's are the following: 3 pitched battles 1 battlefield dominon 1 capture with the middle marker of three being a marker with special stuff.
My goal: finishing top half of the possible 110 players and getting more the half of the commandpoints.

Yesterday I played a game against dwarves. He didn't bring any anti-magic at all, so he had a slight advantage. And he had a hill to give him more an edge. Eventually he wone with a minor victory and in hindsight I could have drawn if I wanted to.
Oh well. My papers are all ready and yesterday I reglued some models to their bases. I saw I missed something from one of my trays, but I'll paint that away tonight. Then I can put everythnig in my cases and I'll be done with one day to spare ( that's a real shocker)

So I got back from my tournament, and now after a good night sleep Ill tell you my story. Friday: I pack my stuff, check if everything is there and glue my beastlord to his base again. Im trying to sleep early, but traditionally there is something about the day before a tournament, I never seem to get to bed early enough.
Saturday morning I get out of bed and without any problems I get to the tournament and register myself. My goals for this weekend: have 5 fun games and get more then half of the command points (50 out of 100). I get my ticket and can get to my first table. My army consists of: Exalted champion of Khorne on steed(General) with gaze of the gods and a flail. Aspiring champion of Khorne on steed (BSB) with warbanner Beastlord with great weapon and armour of damnation
5 Chosen Khorne chaos knights(FC) with banner of rage 5 Khorne knights with full command 5 Khorne knights with full command 3x6 warhounds
beastherd (10 gors/6 ungors) with full command 4 minotaurs of Khorne 6 furies
Giant
My first round was against a guy named Jasper, I know him from a tournament he organises and is a very fun guy. He packed out an empire army of a friend of his and Im thinking: Oh No. But he had a nice army with an archlector and a warrior priest and two pegasus captains. He also had three warmachines. At the end I massacred him so 20-0
High lights: - He charges 6 warhounds with his captasus and loses combat, flees and gets overrun. - He shoots with his outriders at my charging knights and of 15 shots he hits one!, no wounds after that.
Second game: Im high up the tables and expect a very tough opponent. I got Dave from England or Ireland ( I cant remember). I played against him last year and that was fun too. He plays wood elves and we play battlefield dominion. The only victory points are for table quarters ( which were 300 points now) Because it was this scenario I got a 5-15 loss out of it, else I would have been massacred.
So I got 25 points after 2 of the five games: Im on schedule.
Highlights: he charges with wardancers in my flank and I win combat, run into his sorceress and after that his waywatchers. Lowlights: he shoots my heard under 5 models and thats why I lost more points then I hoped. Third and last game was very funny a Belgian guy named Alex with Khorne daemons. To see the laugh about this: Dutch guy named Alex with Khorne mortals against Belgian guy named Alex with Khorne daemons. This was bound to be a close game and after all points were counted I won with a minor.
Highlights where when my BSB and Khorne knights killed his bloodletters and his khorne lord ( he had a lord on daemonic steed with chalice.)
So first day I had 38 points and 12 points short of my goal. I had three very funny games so far.
We ate, watched the youth football final (Holland against Serbia) which we won. Then we went to a scouting house to sleep.

Sunday: This begins at about three o clock. I woke up because the organiser was making the sound of about 25 broken somethings. I lay awake for about an hour and then I went to the hall to sleep there. When I finally fell asleep there somebody walked out of another door and didnt see that it was kept open with a metal dustbin (KABLENG) I was awake. After trying to sleep again I just got up and took a shower (good plan by the way, there was a boiler and about 20 people wanting to take a shower, I was number three) The rest got cold shower...
We got back to the hall and waited for the day to come.
Strangely enough I played table 12 ( I thought I was lower down the ranks) against a fun player who I faced ones before., John. He borrowed dark elves from a friend (remember how that worked out?) He had a level 4 and a level 2 sorceress. The insult of bringing magic to a table of Khorne. He understood after turn 6 that you cant do that and he got no model on the table left.
highlights: His chariot and manticore charge my general and chaos knights and lose in two rounds (impact hits? 1+scythes) His other chariot and spearmen charge my BSB and chaos knights and lost combat (impact hits? 1+scythes) I got 3050 points and he 654.
Nice, I had achieved my goals I have 58 points and 4 nice games. John and I agreed, that the fun part can stop if your next opponent is not that fun guy and I was going up the ranks.
Last round against a 2nd gen slann and a skink priest from a player named Bart. Did I tell you that it is wrong to take that much magic against a player definitely marked by the bloodgod? At the end he got one terradon left and thats it. I got about 2900 points and he 1400, so thats another massacre.
Highlights: my chosen banner charges his skink priest and makes one wound, but he holds ( Slann was still around) then my knight gets killed by drain life. I had to use all of my five attacks from my beastlord to make just one wound on the damned skink and thats what I did: one wound, so he was gone.
78 points out of my games, 40 for painting and army selection gave me a 6th place at the GT 8 points shy of the 2nd place. I was very pleased with my result and had 5 very fun games, never being out of the top 40.

It was very much fun and the result is very nice, but I'm glad my dice didn't leave me alltogether and I had fun games.

I finally got the nerves to open my cases and see the damage my army had sustained.
1 chosen knight lost his banner 2 knight's champions missed their arms 2 knights were in all the (metal) pieces they started with 1 fury missed a wing.
Still a small price to pay for my position on the list.
I'm planning to paint my Keeper of Secrets after the small batch of dark elves I have lying around.

Still working on reprairing my tournament army. That's Khorne for now.
I started a night goblin army featuring Skarsnik and well the games are going well. I played an ogre army and I massacred him. pictures will be posted when something is done.
I am offered 100 euro's to paint 3 maneaters, 4 ironguts, 3 leadbelchas and 24 gnoblars. I have to paint it in the neighbourhood of ehat his models look like now and, well it's fun to do something else. I accepted it, so I'll be painting in the ogres again.
