I'm new on the forum, from Italy. Sorry for my poor english.
Since two weeks, look at the old forum, now i've decide to subscribe because found the info and the works posted very interesting.
Obviously i collect an ogre army, but i have a chaos and lizard even (not painted yet). I like very much paint mini, not much play.
See the works posted on the "Cauldron" was a pleasure and let me great inspiration. I will post my ogre as soon as make some good photo.

I'm kinda new to the forums. I posted my first 1000pt army list (ogre and Warhammer in general) a few weeks ago on the old forums. Unfortunately I forgot to write it down so I may be posting another one in the army section for comments. I still have yet to play a game (of Warhammer), so I guess you could say I'm new to wargaming. I have played tabletop RPGs (starting w/ D&D way back in 1979) in the past, so I'm not necessarily new to the genre.

Been collecting for 14+ years.
Had an ungodly amount of Chaos (100k or so) switched over to Ogres and even though my win rate has gone down I have never looked back.
What can I say? I love the big buggers.

I'm Elsinthun, I'm an Elf (127 years young) I have a small ogre army and I am going to expand when I feel I have finsished my Wood Elves (three 2,000pts armies) I might post help to the fat ones on how to beat my own army if you treat me with the respect I deserve  :wink: (yes that means you worship me above the Maw and your own stomachs ).

Hiya I'm new to registering (I've been lurking and now thought I'd make my presence known)

I've been using Ogres since there release and to be honest I'm at the end of my tether, Ogres saved the game for me I wouldn't be playing if it wasn't for them.

I think I've dug myself a hole, I would seriously like to use a fluff driven army (Already written) but that is competitive to play and is in theme of my idea. I think I always make things to hard for me, so I might just have to scarfice any ideas I have in fluff *sighs*

So I will attempt to see what can be made with your help with my ideas, or if not just give up with making a themed army.

My name is Hill and I close to Dallas, TX.  I have been playing WHFB on and off since...hmmm...the very early 90's.  Wow, talk about changes.  lol  Started with high elves (back when you could put a rank and file soldier on a dragon - lol), then on to skaven, then orcs and goblins, and now ogres.  I dabbled in many other armies briefly over the years, but these are the only ones I stuck with for any length of time.

I went to the first US GT in Maryland, and then a couple more in the following years, but kind of fell out of it for a bit.

Ogres are definitely a challenge after playing horde armies.  I am hoping it will sharpen my sense of the finer nuances of WHFB, because against a good player you have to be crisp with ogres, or get sent packing.

The ogre models are awesome.  You gotta love 'em.

I have made a couple of posts already, but I suppose I should introduce myself. Ogres are my newest army; around 2500 points worth, and I have been working on painting them so I can get in a game, I have yet to play with my Ogres. My first army and love are Wood Elves, and then I also have a DoW army, Lizardmen, and a Dwarf army. About half of my DoW and all of my Dwarfs are un-painted though; damn good deal on e-bay for a full-blown army, to good to pass up. In fact that is how I came to own an Ogre army.  

I have been playing for about two years and painting and collecting for four. I hope to enjoy my stay here and come to offer intelligent and stimulating contributions.

Well hello everyone,I'm new to the forum and new to ogre kingdoms.I have been collecting orcs and goblins for around four years now and I just wondered what it would be like to have an army with less than a 100 or so models   I have  a box of bulls,8 trappers,a bruiser,a butcher and 4 extra bulls atm but I will add to my force.(a battalion saves a lot of money I suppose that would be nice  :wink: )I really like the whole Turkic look of the ogre army with vast sprawling guts and clubs (none of the girly elvish stuff for me   )
   As I am new to the army I hope some could give me advice about this army as the people around me say its *ahem* weak.

My name is Brooke (in case that wasn't obvious from my forum name lol) and I have been playing Ogres since they came out.  Started with a Dwarf army in fantasy, but have since rejected it, since I kind of hit a wall with the army.  Only so much you can do - but with Ogres, at least there's a lot of maneuvering and agressive play.  Plus the Ogres appetite bears a lot of resempblance to my own lol

One question - I have an Avatar that I would like to upload, but there's a problem - it's a touch larger than 20k.  My question is:

1) What program should I use to shrink it down

2) Or where can I find some reliable webspace to load up my avatar.

I'm just getting back into the game, and after a brief spell of insanity (collecting some wood elves), I am starting an ogre force. The models are just too cool to ignore and the army presents a great challenge (thanks very much design). I have always done well competatively and I think I can manage quite well with Ogres, despite the restrictions placed on them.

Hi everyone, I joined about week or so ago but I've had trouble logging in. Thanks to Hragged I can get logged in now. I'm quite new to Warhammer, I've only been playing for about 7 months and I'm even newer to Ogres as I've only been playing since just after Christmas. My other army is about 2.5k Vampire Counts but I enjoy having a change and playing as Ogres too.

I am new to Warmammer in the sense I have yet to play it, but bought the rulebook for 6th edition when it came out.  Hopefully I'll have an army ready to use in the next month or so.  I have basecoated a lot but I have still to paint anything.

Just recently started with Warhammer, at an later age, and decided to go with Empire. I love that army and with a few games up my sleve I have decided to get me another. The only army besides Empire where I want to get all the models is for Ogres so hence this is what I will create as soon as my Empire army is complete (a few months). I was able to get a hold of the Collector Bruiser from the lost army deal.

I hail from Sweden and is closing mid-thirties.

I'm new to the board, been wargaming for 11 years and live in Sydney Oz. Chose ogre knigdoms because I loved the models & their rules as well as the fact that I don't have to paint that many to have a fully painted army. Between work, wife & baby and cricket I do not have a lot of time for gaming let alone painting. I feel there is not a lot better in the hobby than fully painted armies fighting on a table with good terrain, Ogres let me do this.

Well i just joined the ogre stronghold. My name is troy i am 21 and i live in australia. I've been playing 40k for many years and decided to get into fantasy. I wanted to collect a small but powerful army and i think ogres might just be what i am looking for.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Ok, I'm not normally that cliche.  

I'm a complete newbie to Fantasy, but not to wargames. I've played 40k for a long time: Tau, Witch Hunters, Necrons. Friends wanted to get into Fantasy, and not a single army in Fantasy appeals to me, other than Ogres. Sorry, I just dislike every single WFB army there is... except Ogres.

Bought my first lot today, a box of Bulls and a Maneater (the one with a Cathyan Long Sword and Sword Gnoblar, gave him a head swap and he is my Bruiser). I've had the army book for a while so I've been reading up a heap and would like to think I know a fair bit about us Ogres.

My next purchase, eventually, will be the Batallion, and that should get me a decent army.

Okay, so I'm pretty new to this forum-type stuff, but it looked like fun so thought I'd sign up.  I just started collecting my first Warhammer army - what else but Ogre Kingdoms!? - but I've never actually played Warhammer and only have a basic understanding of the rules.  (Even so, I think what small knowledge I do have comes from a rulebook that is waaaaaaay out of date!)

In my younger days I played Heroquest and Blood Bowl (anyone still remember HQ!?), so I'm not entirely new to gaming, but I've only just started getting into modelling and painting.  My first attempts were truly pitiful, so I'm hoping to pick up plenty of tips and tricks from the Butcher's Cauldron!

Just started playing again after a 12 month layoff.  15 Tournaments a year had given me burn-out!

Anyway, I wanted a new army, and nothing OTT.  Always liked the Ogre models, so that was it.

I'll be running MSU with minimum magic as I think OK magic sucks big time

Hey guys, I'm a long time 40K and fantasy player.  I started 40K in 1989 with Rogue Trader and Started Fantasy around 95-96 with 4th edition.  Though I have been known to play other things, I am best known for my chaos armies.  I have done many over the years, playing just about every faction possible.  

Well I really like some of the Ogre character models and have picked up and painted a few in the past along with some maneaters to use as Dogs of War.  Recently, the club I belong to, The Iron Fist(Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland), has announce a Fantasy Escalation League starting mid Feb.  I agreed to play and have spent the last few weeks thinking about armies.  

After finding this Forum(thanks Patrick(berkebilep)) and looking at what everyone has done here, and doing some reading about the Ogres, I decide to do an Ogre Kingdoms army for the Escalation League coming up.  The army will have a pirate theme, ala Borgols.  I had the idea before, but his models made me decide to do Ogres.  

I look forward talking to all of you and sharing pictures of my army as it progesses.

I'm a veteran 40K player but a new entrant to the world of Fantasy Battle. I recently converted some Ogre Bulls into Ogryns for my 40K IG army and fell in love with the models so it was an easy choice for me to make when choosing an army to start WHFB.

I really enjoyed the fluff in the Ogre Kingdoms army book, which led me to create my own tribe of Ogres (led by a brutal, if rather dim witted bruiser by the name of Bogbreath Snotgobbler) and have really enjoyed the few games I've played so far.

Of course my first army is the ogre kingdoms! i love them although i find them a hard army to play, but still fun. i'm playing the boarder princes campaing right now at the store and allied with another ogre kingdoms player who is the owner of the store and a very seasoned veteran at warhammer. good times and loving the game

Hello I'm new to this forum but have played for a long time...They made the minis out of lead when I fist started (now don't eat them).  I quit for a while, playing warhammer because I was studying in germany.  I'm studying in france now and my city, aix-en-provence, has a GW store so I thought I would start up again
Being an old school empire player, at one time my army had dwarves, halflings and ogres in it.  I always thought it would be fun to have an ogre army and my DoW army has golgfag's ogres in it of course.  Well since I started playing again I had to start an ogre army... it's a dream come true
Well since I've played since 3rd edition I've played and purchased about every army there is in warhammer but my favorite was always dark elves(my most fav and played), high elves, empire, DoW, and chaos
I don't like dwarves because I think they abuse the gunline tactic a little too much and their little stunty legs make for a slow army...I know I play empire but the old school player liked lots of units of infantry and had like one unit of crossbowmen and hand gunners, one cannon and mortar and that was it...not too bad.  well that's a good intro so see y'all on the forum!!!!!!

Indeed I am a new member and as my name suggests I like pickles. I started Ogre Kingdoms a few weeks ago and have dominated all the games I've played. I also play Wood Elves. I have been constantly converting my Ogres into Pirates called The Pickle Pirates! I have been crafting eye patches out of green stuff and steal parrots from Bretonnian Knights of the realm sprues. I'm starting a conversion on my Hunter by removing his club hand and replacing it with a hook and the other hand will have the Pirate Maneater anchor, for the hand. His name will be First Mate "Anchor Fist"!!

Howdy all. I've been a GW player since 1987, pretty much tried every game they have put out since than. I have a pretty big Orc & Goblin army and I want to add some of the new Ogres as Dogs Of War before jumping into a new WHFB.

I also play a lot of Warmachine & many RPGs, including D&D, Savage Worlds, & SLA Industries.

Heya guys, new Ogre player here, but old gamer. Been gaming in most of the Warhammer systems for over 15 years now. I've owned parts of literally every army ever made (and kept a lot of the bits for the mega box) but currently I only have two active armies, my Noise Marines and my budding OK. Ogres are attractive since I come from being a Skaven player, where no matter how nice and happy you make your list people still moan when they see it and complain about the cheese. It'll be nice to be the most underpowered army and still beat them into submission  Also the large models are easy to convert, and I loves me some converting. Glad to be here!

I'm from the old forum (please update me mods) and just discovered there was a new site.  Keep up the good work guys!

I've played WHFB and 40k a long time (about 1985 for 40k).  At present for WHFB I have a BoC army and a new OK army.  I've only had OK since late 2005 and haven't played a full game with the army yet.  But that's set to change as I've finished making it and nearly finished painting it.  That is, if you can ever really finish a paint job.  I keep finding bits I've missed or want to change!  

Contrary to most paint schemes I've used a pale green colour scheme using the reaper colour called ork flesh as the main colour.  I figure an ogre should look like Shrek, not a grey undead, but that's my opinion

I especially look forward to reading about tactics as this is the first fantasy army I've used that doesn't rely on ranks to succeed!  Read ya later...

I've been reading your site for a few weeks now and thought I'd join.  I'm an old gamer in general since I was a teen back in '82.  I've been a fan of WHFB for over ten years but have only played a few games.  I've moved around a lot, and never have finished my orc army.  I play Blood Bowl a long time ago as well.  I played the 1st and 2nd edition of it but nothing since and have long ago departed with those mini's.  All but my BB ogers.  I painted them up to fit with my orc army.  The thought being what do ogers do in the off season to stay in form.

After sitting on the fence for a long time I used some Christmas money to get the oger book and a box of bulls.  I'm almost done painting them.  I was going to use them to replace the ones for my orc army but I've decided to make an oger army instead.

When my first 6 are done I'd like to post a pic of them can anyone tell me how to do it?  Once these are done I will have to wait until the summer before I can get the rest of the arm.  Kids and wife have to come before the game.

In parting I just want to say that I love the site and it has given me a ton of ideas for the rest of my army.

Hey everyone!  I'm back from the dead (or back from having too much homework to even think about Warhammer, at least).  I was a member of the "old" forum, and I got sucked off the face of the earth by school.  But I'm back for better or worse.

I've been playing Warhammer about 2 years now, and naturally, I play Ogre Kingdoms.  OK is the first army I've collected so far.  Uh . . . I think that's about it.

Hey there the name's Tomas, I live in Australia and have been collecting this great hobby for nearly 15 years.
Just recently I grew tired of working on my 500+ model skaven army and longed for a powerful force with far-fewer models to construct and paint which led me to the discovery of the awesomeness that is the Ogre Kingdoms army.

I am a scratch builder by nature and a lover of in depth customization with some of my current projects including sculpting entire ogre units from nothing but a bulk pack of greenstuff I bought and wire to use as a skeleton.

Look forward to getting more involved around here in the future and chatting with you all.

I originally started playing a few months back with Wood Elves, I got started cheap and now know why, and now want to switch gears with some massive melee bombs. I so far have 2 units of Ogres and have a starting battalion on the way so looking for any advice on what to do from here. Firebelly or Slaughterer? Tyrant or Maneaters or Stonetusks and scrapblasters etc? So many units and so little time. Thanks for any help.

New to the site but not to the hobby. I've been playing for about 16 years but took a long break (around 7 years) and found myself back into the hobby around this time last year after I discovered an independent store had opened down the road from my parents house. I'm English but live in Poland and still consider my local store to be the one near my parents house

I've had an Ogre army since they were released... well, technically before they were released because I got the army deal box set before it hit the shelves. Staff perks I have around 1500 points of ogres but to be honest I'll most likely be trying to shift them at some point. I rarely get chance to play these days and they're still in the UK so never see the light of day. At the moment I'm working on an empire army which I started last year when I re-entered the hobby and they've been a lot of fun to paint up so far.

Anyway, if I end up keeping my ogres I'll probably spend more time around here but if not then keep and eye out in the trading section

Recently I have been playing more and more tournaments under ETC restrictions and am fed up of painting green and elves, so am looking for another army to take on to the tournament scene hence my interest in Ogres.

I'm a long time Warhammer enthousiast, enven though I haven't played that much since I've joined the Hobby 15 years ago, I've been collecting different armies and trying to get them painted to a standard I'm satisfied with. That being said, I recently decided to start an Ogre Kingdom army because I've always loved their models. I was also appealed at the possibility to have an army with a low model count where I can spend more time converting and modeling.

I also own the following:
- 2500 pts and more Lizardmen army
- Around 750 pts of Beastmen
- 750 pts of Skaven
- Some Dwarves models
- Some Empire models
- A Khador Warmachine army

So I'm a big fan of tabletop games and I'm really happy to be joining you guys here at OS since I've been lurking around for quite a while and I think you guys have one of the best community around the internet.

I had the need to paint something bigger after all them dwarves A friend of mine was trying to get rid of his huge Ogre army (unpainted) and I made him an offer.

Now I'm the proud owner of 3500 points of Ogre goodness! Cool models including the metal Goldtooth, Skrag, hunter, the old scraplauncher, etc. etc.

Not sure where to go from here. Obviously the CORE % is taken care of for most games we play are at 2000 to 2500.

I usually play against, VC Deathstar, Empire, Chaos Tzeentch and Skaven.

Any suggestion on what too buy would be great.. also what to avoid like the plague would be nice too since wasting money in this hobby at GW prices equals suicidal thoughts!

one standard run of the mills army, one scottish themed army (im fro Scotland btws!) and one Gnoblar horde army..... none of these are finished asof yet, but im getting stuff done slowly but surely! =] =]

I am a 31 year old female wargamer from Berlin. In the hobby for about 18 years now, but still newish to WHFB.
Have been collecting ogres for a bit now, after selling my old greenskins army.

Wasn't able to play for a while though and now finally had my first game with my ogres at my club. 

After it I finally lost my heart to the big fatties, even though I lost the game (close, but still). I didn't expect anything else at a first game with a new army though and being out of the WHFB rules for about a year.

The evening before the game I actually listened to all the ogrestronghold tactica videos I found on the yt channel, actually helped a bunch!

So it's all good and now I am waiting for the postman to bring a bunch of new bulls for the tribe.

My name is James and I am a wargamer. Been playing 40k for about 4 years now and was finally able to make the jump to fantasy. Picked up the fat boys and haven't looked back. Great site and very informative!

After it I finally lost my heart to the big fatties, even though I lost the game (close, but still). I didn't expect anything else at a first game with a new army though and being out of the WHFB rules for about a year.

Have no fear! I have a whopping 6 games under my belt, Most at 1000-1200pts. Went 1-3 in those matches and got just creamed every loss. Moved up to 1500pts and went 2-0 last night. Just keep at it and the brutes will make magic happen.

I have always had a weak spot in my hobbying when it comes to painting flesh. So as part of a 'tale of fantasy gamers' event on another site, I have decided to take the leap of faith and give the ogre kingdoms a go.

The name's Loran, or Jukka if you prefer the common tongue. I'm a 27 year-old university student finishing my master's. I've been in the hobby ever since the dark days of the last millenium.

I started with 40k and Space Marines (duh...), but quite soon expanded to FB with Dark Elves and Vampire Counts. I've always been more of a collector and a relaxed gamer -type so haven't been to tournaments, but I try to squeeze a game in as often as possible. Nowadays I've also amassed quite a large Empire, High Elf and Skaven collections...

Anyway, one army that I've never gotten around to moving around the gaming table is Ogre Kingdoms. For some reason I've lately been thinking of the army more and as it is comparatively less expensive to start than other armies, I'm thinking of starting an army of the big blokes. First off would be an allied army for my beloved, but squishy Dark Elves. The goal in the end is to end up with a force of Ogres that could be fielded on their own

I having being playing Warhammer since the introduction of 8th edition, my main stay army has been Empire and I also have a Tomb kings army (on the shelf).  just the past weekend at a local GT a won a fully and professional painted 2000 point Ogre army in the charity raffle! very excited, I'll be picking up the AB this week, but am very excited to jump into knowing all the tricks an tactics that the OK have used to make Empire meat out of my other army.
I'm an active tourney player in the US Midwest, I try to get to at least 3 GT's a year and the occasional 1 day event.  mostly just a weekly game with my club mates at the LGS.

I'm Scott, just found out about this wonderful site as I'm totally new to Fantasy (avid 40k fan however) and Ogres. I picked Ogres because the army will be easy on my wallet and I think the models are awesome (barring Yhetees of course), and stayed for the fluff and the Ironguts. More of a converter/modeller than painter, and take a lax attitude to competitiveness regarding games, but I want to change it so I can compete in small tournaments at my local GW (I really don't care about taking it further, I'm more than comfortable with just store tournaments).

And... I'm spent. 

I am old 48.  New to fantasy battle.  40k played a long time.  really like the Ogre army.  Best bargain from GW ever.

Hi, I'm not new here, I joined a few years ago with great intentions, even starting my own gnoblog about my ogre project. Since then, a series of promotions at work and the arrival of a now 2 year old daughter put pay to that! In the meantime, I've collected lots of bits and pieces, including a chaos marine and iron guard 40k army, but done next to no gaming and painted zero models. I've decided now is the time to get back into all things warhammer and get all my armies painted and ready for war. I also need help I'm sure adapting to 8th edition as I haven't really played any games with the "new" rules.

The name's strata, ive been lurking for afew months now, and decided its time to bludgeon my gut out into the open. I just picked up our battalion box and an iron blaster to start off my tribe as my first army for Fantasy since i stopped playing in the Sixth edition of the game.

I cant say exactly what it was that feed my mind into the ways of the maw, but even while looking at other armies, i kept looking back at all those gut plates and thinking.. you know.. it might be fun to belly check those thin little elves.. i wonder how far they would fly back..

I'm a long time fantasy player coming back to our great hobby. Been more into the 40k for a while due to lack of opponents and more personally lack of interest in painting my wood and high elves. Damn toughness 3 getting on my nerves lately. Now that my gaming group is not only coming back together but also growing it was time for me to get back in on the action. Since elves no longer do it for me (no I'm NOT going to complete the elven trinity), I thought it was time to try something different and somehow liked the idea of ogres.

Our group usually plays at my place since I have the space and the playing fields.

Hello from Columbus, Ohio in the United States of America.

I decided to join the forum and get some good pointers on playing Ogres.  I'm primarily a 40k player with a growing Dark Angels collection.  I started WHFB before 40k right when the Tomb Kings were released and played TK for about a year before moving off to college.  There wasn't a huge Fantasy scene so I started an Imperial Guard force and eventually fell in love with Dark Angels.

Earlier this year, at the request of several regulars at my local GW, I decided to get into WHFB again.  Ogres seemed like a fun, light hearted army to play so I picked up a box of Bulls and Leadbelchers.  Then life got in the way and I had to get married and buy a house so gaming was put on hold for about a month.  Now I'm back at it with a vengeance.

I hope to get to know more of you and post some nice pictures and battle reports.

I'm collection ogre kingdom army for 3 months now. We started with 3 other friends to play warhammer again. two of them played before, i played warhammer 40 000 (space marines) and collected and painted lord of the rings before.

I chose ogres because at first glance it looked as a straight forward army with awesome figurines. I love to paint them and to convert them. I did already 4 battles but lost three of them. Played once against orcs and goblins (lost, damn warmachines), once against chaos warriors (won, first time i played with a butcher and a firebelly) and two times against lizard men (where i lost two times, he is a great player)

In my army i have

a stonehorn / thundertusk (with magnets and interchangeable parts)
6 bulls
6 ironguts
30 gnoblars (from the ogre kingdom box, made some fillers with a gnoblar riding an eagle or a gnoblar mountaid on a small beast,...)
4 leadgebelchers
6 maneaters (made from old orcs with different army parts en ogres heads, my pigmy ogres )

And i have a BSB holding a gnoblar with a standard with a snotling holding a standad on it

I am a new player to WHFB, and have to date played only 2 games, both sadly against a fellow Ogre player. I am in the process of painting up an 800 point force for a forthcoming club mini-campaign, though I do have just a few more points available than that 

Ogres were chosen as my army for said campaign as I couldn't face painting masses of 'little' things, and there is just so much character in an Ogre army. I have also started some 'mild' conversions and will hopefully master my camera enough to post up some pictures in time.

I'll be seeing you all around the Forums in the months to come.

As the name might give away I'm originally and still mainly an Orc player ( 12 k points of the green buggers just counting basic bodies), but I also have a 5 k Bretonian army and several 40k ones. Lately however due to RL interfearing to much i'm more a collector then player (would love to - and trying hard to -  change that again to an active player with weekly games)

My Original Ogres were 10 bulls that served with my Orcs as DoW, but since those have grown to :

2 Bruisers, one beeing a BSB
3 Hunters, including one on a Stonehorn
1 Butcher
1 Firebelly

6 Bulls with extra weapon
6 Bulld with Ironfists
6 Ironguts

4 Leadbelcher
4 Mournfangs with Great weapon
4 Mournfangs with Ironfist

1 Ironblaster
1 Giant
1 Thundertusk

All Heroes except the Firebelly and the Hunter on the Stonehorn are from kit-bashing regular bulls with some head/arm/weapon replacements and minimal green-stuff

I also have an other Ironblaster / scraplauncher and 25 basic bulls waiting assembly - one of them being set apart for a home-made tyrant - and enough parts to make 4 more Leadbelchers and 8 Ironguts + a box of gnoblars

And this is the part i will need help with since I only played 3-4 games since we got the new book - Not sure what would work best. For those who want to suggest some of the named characters - not going to buy crapcast ever again, so forget about it!!

I am new to the Stronghold and Ogres in General.  I started playing WFB about a year ago and managed to work through Lizardmen, Dark Elves and now onto Ogres.  As you can see I have a bit of army ADHD, but I enjoy building and painting quite a bit.  I just started playing in some local tournaments and figured I would give the OK a shot.  The models are a hoot and the Gnoblars make me laugh.

I'm currently working on an ETC 2400 list for a tournament in a couple of months.

My local gaming club is doing a 'Tale of X Gamers', painting 250 points of Fantasy each month, as I'm such a slow painter and have an unfinished 40k project as well, I chose Ogre Kingdoms. I have collected Eldar for the last five years and Dark Angels for the last two, whilst I have several small Fantasy collections (Skaven and High Elves from Isle of Blood, some Orcs I inherited and some Dwarfs) I've only ever modelled/painted but never played so I'm looking forward to smashing my Ogres into some thinling ranks. I've decided to start a Gnoblog to record my progress in Tales to share with my opponents/colleagues - and also to act as a cautionary tale for fellow beginners

To answer an earlier question: a lot of the older veteran forum members and ogre gamers are still here, but tend to post only occasionally and spend their time reading on the forum and answering questions when the need is most dire.

The slightly less veteran of us (who can still recall the first Ogre Kingdoms army release whilst legally drinking a stolen barrel of Bugman's Ale around a mawpit with very grey skin compared to modern days...) are very much active on the forum.

Personally I love The Butcher's Cauldren and Gnoblog areas. It is my favourite part of the hobby; seeing other peoples' projects evolve is particularly inspiring for me. So I hope you all post on there!

Hello. Im in England. Old guy now, longtime player of warhammer fantasy and 40k.

Cant remember exactly when i started, must be at least 20 years ago, stopped in 2008 due to disability.
Still read about it and keep upto date.

First fantasy army was dwarfs, since then ive tried many races. Orcs, wood elves, dark elves(that slaneshy version). bretonians, chaos(various beastmen, daemons and warriors).

Started collecting the Orcs before disability, now thinking thats a massive number of models to try playing with now.
So, searching for a suitable army i find Ogres! Less models, bigger so easier for me to paint.
Not bought any Ogres yet but got three bored Giants from my Orc army waiting to join in.

Welcome Xanaq! Ogres are a fantastic army due to the general size of the models (except for Gnoblars; pesky greenskins!), low model count and the ease of theming and modelling them

Dont intend to use any Gnoblars if i can help it, had enough of that with Goblins previously.
My Ogres will strictly be big boys. Figure if i need redirecters etc ill use Sabretusks.
Guess that also means no Scraplauncher but think ill manage.

While I believe I did a intro a few years ago when I originally joined,I have been away for quite a while. I recently got back into Warhammer after a long hiatus of wandering through the desert of other wargames... I played Ogres when they originally came out, but lost my army 3-4 years ago during a move. Now Ive started buying up some Ogres again to join my Brets on the shelf(and battlefield).. Now I plan on sticking around this time.

Name's Nemo! I started in 40k, and then found I enjoy fantasy as much, if not more! (Which is weird as I am more of a Sci-Fi guy then fantasy guy.)

I started with High Elves, which I love.  The other day, I went down to my local store, and was going to pick up some VC Skeletons to work with my HE fluff a bit. (Crazy self appointed High Elf Queen in the Old World who is out numbered and turned to necromancy to fill the holes in her dwindling military.) The store was out of the VC skeletons, apparently someone had come in the day before and decided to buy all of them. Right next to the VC on the shelf was an Ogre Tyrant. Now I had never really paid much attention to Ogres, but that Tyrant looked awesome, so I looked at some of the other models, and walked out with a battalion box.

The Ogres have sparked creativity, look awesome, and are played so very different then my High Elves, that it makes me love them more.  So the Great Khan Khenti Temujin and his Amsa-Sunnasa were born.

Well it is in the nascent stages now. Basically my idea is a Ogre dude who ended up involved with either to the Cathay or Nippon and received an education of some form. During his pilgrimage he picked up a few dudes and figured if he led them, his chances of surviving were higher, learned of the western world, and has gone west, and has built up from a leader of a small band of survivors to the Khan at the forefront of an Ogre horde.

It is more straight forward then my High Elves, but the Ogres have a lot of character already to work with, which gave me bigger lines to color within.

im new to the Ogres. ive been lurking on this forum for a while and have been impressed by the user activity on here.
been gaming since the tail end of 7th, sold my lizards and my dwarfs, got a few daemons but settled on the Ogres as an army to play properly.
Any advice would be super welcome from you experienced players as im totally new to Ogres having never played with or against them.

got my first models off ebay today, a firebelly and 7 bulls for a total outlay of £27, no idea if this is any good really. any suggestions as to what i should buy next?

i have to go against the grains and say im not a huge fan of the MF cav, so dont want to be getting any of those for a while, is it possible to have a competative build without them and only one ironblaster? (got one from ebay on its way)

have to say i love the leadbelchers, the idea of big fatties lugging around a cannon sized 'gun' and just stuffing crap into it before firing at the enemy is brilliant is it viable to build a list around them?

Hi there fellow fatties!

Returning to Warhammer after 8 or so years, I started a brand new Skaven army (honestly, how can you not love the little vermin?). But a year later and 150+ slaves painted I was looking for a new army, and Ogres immediately caught my eye. As with Skaven, what's there not to love? Big and burly lumps of fat and muscle crushing everything they can get their hands on. The obvious difference in playstyle really attracted me. No more lurking around, I want to get into close combat and bust some skulls! Besides, Maneaters has to be the coolest addition to WFB, period. The amount of possibilites is just mind blowing! Definately gonna get a unit or two of them to go with my bulls and iron guts.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to starting ogres. Love the models, love the fluff, love the rules and love the "feel" of the army as a whole.

im new to the Ogres. ive been lurking on this forum for a while and have been impressed by the user activity on here.
been gaming since the tail end of 7th, sold my lizards and my dwarfs, got a few daemons but settled on the Ogres as an army to play properly.
Any advice would be super welcome from you experienced players as im totally new to Ogres having never played with or against them.

got my first models off ebay today, a firebelly and 7 bulls for a total outlay of £27, no idea if this is any good really. any suggestions as to what i should buy next?

Look at the lists here, and some of the other less friendly places like Warseer. There are a lot of quality lists without MFC. It is just a hard choice to make if you are into super competitive lists because they are, at least in my opinion, some of the best cavalry in the game.

Been wargamming for what feels like ever ( 20 or so years ) been a break in the middle where was more on and off over that time

now mostly playing Warmachine / Hordes (Skorne FTW) but with joining a new war games club sound others that play Fant again, so built up a couple armies, in a scary short time ( Really lucky in some others selling stuff so really good deals )

have about 10k Skaven which I am spending what will be a lifetime painting and about 3k Ogre`s which i started a few weeks back

played a few games and was soundly smashed, but need to relearn the rules and all the lil tricks as the guys i play against do play more competitively which does not bother me, just means need to up my game hehehe

Started a Gnoblog to keep me honest in my painting and re-learning the game and perhaps give my impressions of things ( i`m a very opinionated person )

I am starting a new Ogre Kingdoms army. This will be my third Warhammer army.

In the 2013 Winter Warhammer campaign with the 'Arvard 'Ard Boyz I ran a High Elf Army. I inherited the Elven half of two Island of Blood boxes, and that was my intro to the game. I used a lot of magic, ranged attacks and eagles. I tried to keep the enemy back by deflecting with eagles, while whittling them down with arrows and magic. When the survivors reached me I had units ready to always strike first and often win the combat. Or die if the gambit failed.

We just completed 2014 Winter Warhammer campaign, and this time I played Night Goblins. I'd found a big box of Night Goblins figures and bits for $8 at a yard sale, and decided it was fate. I added in some stuff from ebay and a Forgeworld splurge on a Squig Gobba and Command Squad. They were a hard army to get good with, but eventually I learned to chuck Mangler squigs and explosive units of squigs in the front to do a lot of damage, then meet their units with 50 Goblin tarpits (and fanatics) and counter attack with trolls. It worked sometimes, but the low leadership of an Orcless Night Goblin army is hard to overcome.

Now I want an avalanche, crashing into my opponents. Hard hitting and tough. That's why I chose Ogres - and because the models look fun to paint. I also want to shoot a bit in support of the crush, and to draw the enemy in. I'm not planning a big magic game. As a result I think I'm going to try using a tyrant and I want him to be kitted out to last. His leadership with a banner of discipline will be a sweet relief after using night goblins!

Here's my start on the Ogres:

The battalion box

• A slaughtermaster/butcher
  A tyrant/bruiser
  An Iron Blaster
  Two Sabretusks.

In my list experiments I make that into 1250 to 1500 points (stretching it a bit with magic items)

I haven't decided what I'll get next, possibly:

• 2 Mournfang Cav
   4 more leadbelchers
   Some ogres to convert into man eaters.

I'd welcome any suggestions.

Good luck, the Dark elves are tough bunch to fight. I have my first Ogre Battle tonight. We'll be fighting the Wood Elves.

I have been playing WH40K for about 6 years now and have collected tyranids. I have been wanting to start a Fantasy army for some time now but had a really difficult time deciding which I would want to play.... until a friend let me read the Ogres book that is!

So being completely new to fantasy ( though i've read the BRB a few times and get the jist of it ) and having a new army to start is very exciting, but also very daunting task. I have no idea what army list will be my first but I know the units I want to use.

I hear sabretusks are good for something. Has anybody had any luck with the Thundertusk/Stonehorn?

Hello from the States, Colorado to be exact!
I'm a first time Warhammer Fantasy Player but I've ran 40k and Bloodbowl before as well as other mini games.
I have way too many boxes of models since I dived head first into the hobby. Luckily I found this Stronghold and thanks to all this advice I have a good starting point on what to build and paint first. I've learned a ton about my army thanks to all the threads and help. I have my first 1500 point game on Saturday against my friends Tomb King Army. Hopefully I come out on top. Anyway glad to be here and thanks to everyone so far, all this archived advice is really helping!

Another hello from the States, Texas this time!

I am also a first time Warhammer Fantasy Player, haven't had much experience with other war games. I was always facinated by Fantasy after taking a look at an old rulebook and visiting a GW store in Grapevine Mills years ago, but lost touch with the game until it came to my area. The Ogres really appeal to me for several reasons, first of all being my nickname is Ogre that all my friends use which seems perfect to play the game with little mini-me figures. I have been reading through the articles I have found so far trying to figure out exactly where to start and what not, and will go from there.
