chaos ogres

I play chaos space marines in 40k and I loves nurgle stuff and have done a lot of stuff in that vein. I just don't get the connection of nurgle with ogres, slaanesh seems like the more likely of the chaos forces.

This followed in turn by those use any force other than their strength to win. Invoking magic in one form or another... thus Tzeentch is god number 2

Plague, death and disease is inevitable, showing Nurgle's presence in all, and his power waxes and wanes with epidemics

And Slaanesh is the least powerful (though my favourite) based around a hedonistic desire for sensation.


Given that ogres are a barbaric race, that sacrifice others to a bloodthirsty god...Khorne seems obvious.
Tzeentch is a further stretch due to lacking the higher mental functions required by The Lord of change but not impossible...
Nurgle is pretty much for anyone. Everyone rots in the end.
Slaanesh...is difficult for me to connect with ogres at all. Vanity is unlikely and counting eating as a sensation is a stretch but the only possiblpilityi can think of...

slaanesh made most sense to me because yes they sacrifice creatures to the maw but they don't kill just to kill, they do it for the fight, they are drawn to travel the world eating exotic things. that seems closer to the prince of excess, than the rest. khorne is powered by the blood split but slaanesh is powered by the thrill of it and the pain for the victim(if I remember correctly)

Gluttony and eating to the point of gorging is very Slaaneshi. I've actually been contemplating having a Slaanesh Maneater in my force instead of the more obvious Nurgle one.

Ogres can be pretty Tzeentchian because of the focus on sudden and dramtic change, regardless of the mental faculties of those who bring it about. The shocking defeat of a long-established Tyrant, the last-minute arrival of a tribe to turn the tide of a thinling battle and the sudden betrayal of said thinlings once it becomes apparent that they don't have much cash - all are very pleasing to the Architect of Fate.

Absolutely. The point being, the Pantheon of Chaos exists to tempt all into being their playthings. So it's pretty much reasonable for anyone to be aligned to one of the Gods.

Gluttony certainly is a way to align them to excess...

Ritual sacrifice is not particular to any chaos God however. In the Horus Heresy novels for instance it is used mosty by the 'undivided' legions in order to tear holes in the galaxy in tribute to the pantheon as a whole. Every person killed is a sacrifice in one sense, skulls for the skull throne are earned only from killing the most worthy opponents etc. In the same sense that lives taken for the great maw are pleasing to it. As far as I'm aware Ogres don't strap their victims down and torture them agonisingly to savour the sensation (which would be awesome), and their background is certainly more barbarous than it is sensuous (read - closer to Orcs in personality than Dark Elves for instance).

BUT as with any 'neutral' race, the point is they can be corrupted by anyone. Or work for anyone (for a fee). That's our gambit. We love fighting and we'll do it for whoever, wherever if they pay us properly. Pay means food. Food means survival on a giant icy mountain. Win.

I like this it's an interesting debate.

khorne is the easy choice, why else would the tie skulls into their beards.
I mean yes they don't tie them down and torture them but eating a still living being is pretty close to torture for me. If I remember correctly in the old army book that's how a handgun goes off in an ogres throat, because he is trying to eat a still living human.

The slow creep of nurgle draws me to him, nurgle seems likes the most kind of the chaos forces.

I see ogres as least like Nurgle. They like their limbs freshly plucked from the limbs of a recently stomped elf...

The rest makes sense to me...

The lethargy and endurance of Nurgle fits right in with Ogres. Plus, there's a certain kindness the Plaguefather offers that's lacking in Ogre society. Perhaps if you were an Ogre father, and had just seen a paunchless son of yours thrown into a pit, condemned to death or Gorgerhood, you might take it upon yourself to seek a more... tolerant patron.

Eating so much raw food, and then carrying around more raw food hooked to your clothes to snack on later, is going to spread a lot of disease.

Yeah nurgle is considered more of a caretaker than the other forces

That makes me wonder do ogres care about preserving technics or do they depend on the constant cold
