I am a bit rusty with the Ogres but was thinking of a double Tyrant list.
Tyrant Army General
and a second Tyrant on a flying carpet
I am thinking
Tyrant on Carpet, HA, Talisman of Preservation, Charmed Shield (5+ AS, 4+ WS, 2+ vs. first hit).
Tyrant on Carpet, HA, IF, Talisman of Preservation, Dragonbane Gem (4+ AS, 4+ WS, 2+ vs. flaming)
Tyrant on Carpet, HA, IF, Talisman Endurance, Dragonhelm, Biting Blade (3+ AS and 5+ WS, 2+ vs. flaming)
Tyrant on Carpet, HA, Enchanted Shield, Talisman of Preservation (3+ AS, 4+ WS)
Tyrant on Carpet, HA, Charmed Shield, Healing Potion, Dragonbane gem, Warriors Bane
What builds have people tried if any?
Tell me about your experiences with this type of Tyrant?

I haven't tried too much with the Flyrant builds (ha, yeah, I like that term for our guys, too

). The problem is him being a cannon magnet. I'd say your first listed build with Preservation + Charmed will help him get into combat the easiest, but then he doesn't really have much bite. You can't even technically give him a great weapon because then he loses the +1 armor of the Charmed Shield (which, technically, would only be there for the 2+ blocked hit, to absorb the first cannon shot).
I'd also try Sword of Striking, Charmed Shield, and Talisman of Endurance. That'd give you 4+/5++, with the +1 to hit making him more combat effective.
Granted, ultimately it's "suboptimal" (compared to a SMaster and a unit of Ironguts for the same amount of points), but if you have fun with the double Tyrant, that's really what it's all about

this build just is not the same since we lost Mastodon Armor.
when the book first came out i used option 4 (3+ AS, 4+ WS) with a brace of pistols, gave me versatility: 6 attacks if i knew i overwhelmed my target and was going first, 3+ with the shield if i might take a pounding against a single model, guns if i knew i was not going to get a charge off in the current position.
i think because it still paled in comparison to Mastodon armor, i gave up on it in sadness.

At Gutlord Inquisitor's suggestion, I have been experimenting with the flying firebelly. I can say that he is a ton of fun and I don't mind him getting taken down early (though it seems to rarely happen). I do not think I would ever want to put a lord level guy on a carpet because it makes the model too tempting of a target to kill for points. With the Firebelly, they might pick up 150ish points, but then they are ignoring doing damage to the wall of bodies coming their way, which is something most people are not willing to do. I could see using a Hunter or Bruiser, but being able to whip fireballs on idle turns and the breath weapon make the firebelly a better choice. He may not be great, but he is solid and a lot of fun to use.

I have had success with:
Carpet, talisman of preservation, charmed shield, and a great weapon.
He is 4+/4+ out of combat with a 2+ vs the first hit, and he throws out 5 S 7 attacks.
It isn't the most cost effective, but he sure is fun. He works for monster hunting and flanking. He won't do well taking a core block head on, though. So don't do it!

That sounds like an interesting build.
I was thinking he would be a good chaff/wamachine and monster Hunter.
