turning my friends into models ... !?

this is going to be seperate from my gnoblog as it isnt really anything to do with my ogre army , its more of a side project that will take some time to get together, the general idea is that i either buy or convert a model from any warhammer army that i think would represent either the personality or physical appearance of my friends and before i start investing time and money into this my question is simply if you were my friend and i did a model of you would you be flattered or creeped out or what ? because i dont want to insult them but i think it would be a great way to have a little reminder of them because throughout life friends come and go so having these little representations of them will let me have a reminder of all the memories we had ... so yeah turning friends into models awesome or weird ? (as a side note the models i have chosen that i havnt already got come to just under £150 which for a 16/17 year old is quite alot but i think it would be worth it)

Only got one mode done, but I think it's a cool idea, and if it were me being the muse of a model, I'd be flattered

thats reassuring that im not the only person to have thought of it haha can i ask for the one which you have done or for any others you planned on doing did you base it purely off their physical appearance or their personality because i have this one friend who is one of the most trustworthy people you're ever likely to meet but he is as stubborn as a mule so i thought about doing him as a dwarf because it fits his personality but not how he looks

I actually went for physical likeness, but I think personality could work too

I just had some spare models lying around, so took to one of them with greenstuff and sculpted an old school friend

If I can find it, I will snap a picture!

It's definitely a great idea, and one that I will probably devote more time to myself when I have the time

Yeah some pictures would be great thanks ! And I will probably try to make the model look like the person to a degree but I feel like certain people would fit certain races personality wise , if that makes sense xD

This is a really cool idea, I would love to do this. First thing I would do is paint up the fat ogre female man-eater and give it to one of my girl friends. That would make them happy I'm sure haha!

Haha it seems like great minds think alike as I had that very same idea haha but it looks like it will probably be after 16th of may before this gets underway purely because that's my birthday so ill be getting some money haha xD

I think they will be flattered as long as they are based around good characteristics rather than people's flaws:

I made you a dwarf because you're overweight, stubborn, stingy with money and you're basically a hermit

I made you a dwarf because you always follow your convictions, you're strong, dependable, know the value of money and know when you're needed...

Love the idea would you make one of the models into yourself and which one would it be and why. I would have to be an ogre i suppose cause ive been doing em only for 1 year and i have put on 3 stone in weight lol .Would love to see pictures as you do them keep us posted

well judging from the feedback i think i will definitely go ahead with the idea , i think however not all of them will be based off of peoples personality and that some of them will look like their human counterpart as there are some models that are just too damn close for me not to use them haha

yes i would make one of the models into myself , which model you ask ? well that would have to be alith anar the high elf shadow king , my reasoning ?well at 6 foot 2 im quite the tall fellow so a high elf seems appropriate , i also have quite long dark hair and am very slender like the model , why did i choose the shadow king ? because ive never been one to enjoy being in the spotlight ive always hovered around the edges ... kinda like a shadow xD in fact in primary school one of my teachers nicknamed me shadow because i rarely spoke , i just listened and watched and people hardly noticed me , so i think the shadow king is perfect for me ^_^

actually thats interesting , id quite like to know which model you guys would choose to represent yourself and why ?

That's interesting actually as people will likely choose a model that represents how they perceive themselves or want to be perceived. For instance you chose he shadow kind rather than a shadow blade or an assassin, which alludes to possible personality traits.

I, for instance would love to be perceived as Archaon, he was intelligent and wilful enough to complete all challenges required of him; strong, powerful, inspiring and charismatic. Evil is a point of view...

But actually, probably looking at the model running away on the giant sprue!

Very intriguing question. One perhaps that deserves a thread all of it's own...

For me? I guess it would have to be Theodore Bruckner. Fiercely loyal to his charge, and a Champion of strength and virtue who upholds the morality of his leader and nation with cold diligence and unwavering determination. Pretty much characterises me. The look may be a little off, but close enough.

right it was my birthday on friday which means that now i have funds to get this project underway !!! I decided that instead of spending all of my money at once and trying to get them all done that starting from next month (due to most of my exams being in this month) i will buy, build and paint one persons model every month (chosen at random) and although you guys wont know who they are i'll post them here anyway as its all hobby related

i know i was going to start next month however someone kindly donated one of the models i needed so i thought that whilst i was waiting for next months model to arrive (already ordered it

) that id get this one out of the way, so i present "dobby" which is his nickname in college, the thought behind this is that dobby is somewhat of an enigma, abit of a dark horse who doesnt really say much but hes a good guy nonetheless and a great and loyal friend.
