Ogre Stronghold Gathering: Warhammer World

original thread ↗

Ogres! :)

There's been a conversation here and there about a meeting of the forum's members, and it has been something that has been done in the past (Gamesday 2008, which I was lucky enough to attend!). It's a brilliant chance for people to be able to put "a face to the name" so to speak, and a great opportunity to get to know your fellow Ogres a bit better.

I think the best bet is to hold a day at Warhammer World, where we can all play a few games of Warhammer - perhaps even a mega battle! - and have some food and drink in Bugman's and just have a great day out :) Now, I appreciate this forum is global in it's reach, so this meeting wouldn't be applicable or possible for some of us, and for that I am truly sorry. If I had the money, I'd fly you guys over! :)

Anyway, who would be interested in this? :)

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.

And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.
I'd be interested in this, but not with taking my models anywhere :D I've tried it once, and unless I'm driving to England, there's no way I'll be going through the process of getting the army safely through airport security and the flight itself :P

Also, I'm not sure if I'll have time for this until later in the autumn as I've got a busy summer coming up. We've got renovations going on at the summer house, so I'll be working there every minute I can spare from work... And of course, with the sun being up, I'll be taking the boat out :)

But definitely a fun idea! :D

You seem to be challenging me for the title of Smiley Overlord with all your smileys
It'd be great to see you dude :) If the timing is right, hopefully you can make the trip! On the models, I am sure I could provide you with something :)

That'd be great :) The last, and only, time I've taken models with me overseas was too much work. If I ever have to do it again, I'll just take a week extra and drive to the event and back :D I've lived in Belgium when I was a kid, and we drove to Finland and back every summer for holidays. It takes about two days to drive from Belgium to Finland, so adding an extra day should get me to England and Warhammer World :P

This is actually something that I've been thinking about, as I'd really like to go to the Games Day at some point in the future. But I'd also like to take the time and drive around Europe, especially France. And visit the occasional castle and wine maker :P And breweries in England, Germany and Belgium ;)

I would highly recommend it :) Gamesday isn't so great any more, since they axed all of the hobby side of it, but it would be well worth coming over for Warhammer World, and see a few of the sights, and visit a few breweries! :)

Warhammer World is on my bucket list, but in the meantime, I don't think I can get over to England from the US anytime soon :P

If I ever do go, though, I'll totally post on the forums and let y'all know! But, we'll see :P My wife actually wants to go to Ireland, so I think if we make it a two-week trip with a layover into England, I can have a day to go to Warhammer World and enjoy some Bugman's goodies! :D
