Jotunheim - Siberian Brutes

original thread ↗

A loooong time ago I started to collect ogres. Since 2006 I suppose. It was my first army. Now I'm inspired with daemons

There were many battles, my brutes marched through 6th (rushing-crushing MSU), 7th (deathstars and butthurt) edition of rulebooks and actual 8th...

So, I got pretty big collection of Ogres and it still grows. Conversions and scratchbuilds are in numbers.

Let's start our showcase. Skin colour was my personal invention, in my opinion it is the best way to represent jotuns nature: snowy, frozen, feral...

Love the variety you've got happening there, well done!

thnx Jimmy

115 gnoblars! Painted about over 2 months. At first I hate them. But then... they gotta killed Abomination and Hydra!

Scratched Scrappa))

Stay tuned :)
Looks great! I really like the blueish skin tone, as it's a nice contrast to what you usually see :)

The guy brandishing a horse above his head is my favourite of the lot. A really characterful army altogether, but this fella takes the cake! :D Can't wait to see more!

I like the colour on the ogres, but elsewhere it looks too much like bare plastic colour to me.
Also guy holding horse is good but i think horse should be different colour for contrast.
but i think horse should be different colour for contrast
they are contrast IRL

What? All i see is whats in pictures there, horse is same colour as the hands hes holding it in.
There is definitely a contrast there, but perhaps it could be a little more stark. May be the photos though :)

Nice work, and love the conversion work :)

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.

And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.
Very unique colors and conversions, definitely one of a kind. Glad to hear hordes of gnoblars isn't a bad idea to use every now and then because I have loads of the little buggers.

-GL
I really like the "Blind Rhino"... this army looks pretty sweet. As for the horse throwing guy, it looks pretty different colour-wise to me...the Ogre is blue (ish) and the horse looks grey (ish) the upper photo contrasts better; maybe it is the light in the latter pics.

What allot of Gnoblars! Have you sued this many in a game, and how did that work out? I have toyed (once or twice) with chucking a couple of 50/60 strong Gnoblar units in just for S&G to see what would happen (I haven't because what in assume would happen is they would end up running away and off the table edge!)

nice work, keep it up.

G_H
Nice stuff! Like the skin tone. You have achieved a very characterful army that draws the eye which is all of our dreams is it not? Well done, Hope to see more...

Welcome back.

Usualy, I take 2 boxes by 40+ gobs (MU, Std) I always keep them near my general. Considering that gnobs in numbers are stubborn, these b****rds are tough enough to hold your flank or rear for 3-4 combat turns (and kill Abomination), yep :) But you are right, some times they are running away and off the table(

Nice looking army, can I ask how long you have been working on these guys? There is just so many of them...I am guessing you haven't painted them all in the last couple of weeks, surely? If you have then you sir, are a legend!

G_H
Sorry, I'm not a legend. They were painted about 3 years ago for local tournament ))) It took about 2 months.

But now I'm well trained speedpainter. I can paint 40 dwarves for 2 weeks)
Stunning work mate! :D

I really like the skin on the AoW Ogre conversion. It is really striking and works well with the more muted colours used on the other parts of the model :)

Is there still something to come? :P

Once, forge world released rhinoriders. I didn't get enough $$ to buy it, so dicided to scratch dem))
There was a lot of work, reposing and sculpting

Rrrrrhinoz!!!

Iron rhino ex bloodcrusher

Hand made rhinos

Rhino from local toy-store

I expected to see official rhinoz in new release, unfortunatly there were cavebears >_<

Cavebears) There is nothing to say, except th new skin tone. They became more bluish cause of of new paints (Coat de Arms game colour)
Also you can see four different types of furs on bears.

This army is looking really good mate; how are you faring on the table with this army? If the myth that a well painted army is more likely to win than a three colours ready army, then yours must be smashing it!

G_H
Some wips for competition

Fantastic hunter and hunter with stonehorn. I'm assuming all the arms are magnetized for them?
Keep up the great work!

-GL
Nice work, loving the colour scheme and the base work looks damn good.
Keep up the good work mate

G_H
thnx!

Ye, weapons options magnetised

I forget to paint teeth and eyes for them  :|
I seriously love the skin colour! It's just so vastly different to what I've seen before, but not just for the sake of being different, it follows a theme :) Love it, and the Stonehorn is particualrly great - keep up the great work! :)

Agreed; both on the scratch built and the yhetti (always spell that wrong) bases.
Actually, all the bases look good mate, like the Ironblaster paved floor base too. Nice work mate

G_H
Your army is looking awesome. Keep it up. I want to see more awesome conversions!
Really? Is this  really what we are talking about?
2 JJ & G_H: Bases were made frome Fimo(c). I hope every one know how to use it ;)

Reposting earlier. My first experience in converting models.

After IG "HorseEaters" I tthought about Cheap and Uniq maneaters. For that moment I got only 5 models:
-Cathayan Master of Sword (were is that sword in our armybook?!?!?!wtf)
-Standard bearer (former BSB)
-two gun-brothers (brace of pistols)
-khemrian ogre & mummy-gnob

exBSB has 2 options of left-hand weapon (shield or ogre pistol) and standard (Dragonhide banner or MotherBelly idol)

custom Gorger

and his "original" brother from the pit

Gnobs looted dwarven pony & some ore. The ore is 99.99% Fe (iron chip accellerator)
