Deployment

I go heavy on the right with the hope that my maneaters can close the deal on the other side of the table.  Everything else is pretty normal.

Turn 1 Skaven.

He gets the first turn.  He moves most of his stuff up.  He swift reforms his rats to face my maneaters.  Magic earns him a few wounds on gnoblars, but he fails to cast his second with the Vermin Lord and I dispel the rest from the engineer.  Shooting gets 1 more gnoblar.  They pass the panic check.  His doom wheel shoots his own warp fire thrower and blows it up, no other hits.

Turn 1 Ogres.

My yhetees charge, my army moves up, but my maneaters wait for the yhetees to come up so as to force his main block into a bad situation.  Magic was ok, 7-5.  I get a death spell of and kill his other warp fire thower.  I also get -1 S and -1 T off on his rat ogres.  The other 2 spells are dispelled.  The thundertusk misses its mark for the ball of frost, but manages a wound on the swarms.  My yhetees do a few wounds and take some in return, but they win combat and over-run the doom wheel, they go 12 inches however and are in a terrible spot.

Turn 2 Skaven

He charges my Yhetees and they flee... double 6s again... the board edge was 18 1/2 have inches away...  so they flee off and are counted as dead.  It's not all bad though, because now my maneaters have the charge they want.  The plague monks have to charge, the rat ogres ran at my cat, and the rat swarms elect to charge my gnobs.  Magic was a dud.  He got 4-2.  I scrolled one and dispelled the other.  Shooting got a wound on each sabertusk from the globadiers and from the jezzails.  He wins all 3 combats killing both units of gnobs and my cat.  He overruns on all accounts and makes it to 2 more combats.

Turn 2 Ogres

It was looking bleak for him at this point.  My maneaters get a glorious charge on the main block.  I was really excited to see what they'd do.  My giant charged the rat ogres, my thundertusk charged the swarms, and my sabertusks charged the globadiers and the wizard.  Magic was nearly pointless.  I got a toughness bonus off on my ironguts, but that's it.  No shooting.  My giant was wounded in CC but we tied because of the charge.  My ironguts tore a hole in his plague monks and only 1 lived to flee.  I overrun, but not far at all.  My thundertusk and ogres obliterated the swarms. (no surprise)  My cats killed his wizard and globadiers. (another surprise)  Now the combat I was relishing.  His assassin and warlord killed a maneater before i struck, but he whiffed his clanrat attacks and so I only lost 1 guy.  I got 23 wounds due to rerolls in the first round of combat.  I also used the breath weapon, so he was going to be striking last for next turn.  I was pleased with the outcome.  He held at LD 10.

Turn 3 Skaven

It was hopeless for him at this point.  He charge his clanrats into my ironguts.  His lone plague monk kept running.  Magic was all dispelled.  His night runners got 2 wounds off with slings, and the jezzails missed completely.  He wounded my giant in cc, but then failed an initiative test and one rat ogre died.  He held on a 4, though.  His master assassin was with the clanrat spearmen.  I challenged him to a duel with my SM.  He accepted and did 2 wounds to start off.  The weapon causes D3, but I managed to save one on the greedy fist ward save, so it was destroyed before the D3 took effect, thus I lost only 1 wound.  I killed him for causing me so much trouble!!!  My ironguts crushed and overran his spearmen after the challenge.  His warlord's unit failed their fear test.  My maneaters killed another 18 guys and they killed only a single maneater.  They broke and I overran them.

Turn 3 Ogres

It was over at this point.  My maneaters charged his jezzails.  My ogres charged his night runners.  My ironguts charged his vermin lord.  I only got 1 spell off, but it was all i needed.  I got -1 S and -1 T off on all units within 24 inches.  Due to that, my ogres decimated his night runners.  My maneaters didn't need the help and killed the jezzails on impact hits alone.  The rat ogres failed another I test and died to the giant.  The whip guys were then thunderstomped.  His vermin lord took 2 wounds from impact hits then killed 2 ironguts from having a D3 wounding weapon.  My SM put 2 wounds on him and I my bruiser finished the job.

After thoughts

He had some bad luck with his warp fire throwers and his magic was a dud, but he didn't have enough high S attacks to take out my army.  It was just too much T 4 for him to manage.  I took no shooting(except for the T-Tusk) because I wanted to get in quick and crush him.  It worked pretty well.  It was a fun game and he was a fun opponent.

You sir have my gratitude for allowing me to read something worthwhile on what is normally a boring working day.

You had a real handle on the enemy magic phase for the entire game and you shut it down really well.

Shame the Yhetees overran so far and then fled off the board!  What a pain!

Other than that there isn’t much else to say, do you think a Stonehorn could have done well in this game as opposed to the Thundertusk?

Thanks for the report, great read and it’s awesome to see more popping up.

Thanks.  I'm getting batter at using battle chronicler, so it's actually pretty easy to use one now.

As for the T-tusk stonehorn question, a stonehorn probably would have been better, mainly because the game was over in 3 turns and I didn't shoot much, but the ASL aura was really useful in making sure that my ogres got to swing before being swung at.

My yhetees failed me, but I was actually happy they fled, because had they not the game would have been more lopsided than it was.  I don't like winning without losing anything because it isn't fun for the opponent to see their entire army get throttled and do nothing in return.  My flawless victory pic was more for fun than a gloat of my prowess.

I'm glad you had something to do at work.  Were I a worse man i would insert a judgmental comment about how you should be a good employee and not be on the stronghold at work… continue chastisement and insult your parents for raising you up to be a menace to society…  begin assaulting your religious and political view…  eat lunch…  That covers it.   :D
