Skragg vs. Teclis 2500!!!!

original thread ↗

I played my brother the other day and we both had closed lists and were trying something odd and unique.  It just so happened that the took Teclis and I took Skragg, the two lord mages of each faction.

NOTE:  I don't have a Skragg model, so my brother was fine with me using a regular slaughtermaster model.

Anyway, the armies went like this:

Ogres:

Skragg
Firebelly  -  lvl 1, ruby ring, scroll

6 Ogres  -  shields
10 Ironguts  -  command, DHB
10 Gnobs
10 Gnobs

Cat
Cat
Cat
2 Mournfang  -  HA, IF
7 Gorgers

Ironblaster
Ironblaster

Highe Elves:
Teclis
BSB

20 Archers
20 Archers
20 Archers

40 White Lions
25 Phoenix Gaurd

10 Sisters
10 Sisters
10 Sisters

From the start i thought I would win, seeing as how I had an army of gorgers vs. a bunch of archers, but I was worried about the White Lion hoard and P-sun.

Deployment

Turn 1 HE

He moved up and shot some stuff, my gnobs ran, but nothing too serious.  He got 12 dice and cast P-sun.  It was a miscast, so he used his item to stop it.  It misfired and centered on teclis with minimal damage.

Turn 1 OK

I move up pretty fast.  My ironblasters kill some white lions and skragg gets reg + toughness off on my main unit.

Turn 2 HE

He keeps shooting.  He 6 dices p-sun but fails to cast, so magic ended.  Minimal damage to important parts of my army

Turn 2 OK

ALL MY GORGERS SHOW UP!!!!
Saber tusks flank the archers and one dies.  I win combat but he stays.  I also charged the sisters that were screening Teclis and obliterate them.  I overrun into some archers.  Magic keeps my unit at T 5.

Turn 3 HE

He shoots at the gorgers and does some damage.  The White Lions move up.  He fails a charge with the Phoenix Guard.  Teclis casts P-sun, but I scroll it.  I dispelled the rest.  I kill his archers with ironguts but don't get a good overrun.  He kills my other sabertusk.

Turn 3 OK

Mournfang charge and kill the archers.  2 gorgers charge sisters and kill them.  2 other gorgers do the same to another unit.  1 gorger flanks the white lions and holds for a turn.  Bulls move up, and ironguts turn.  Other gorger charges teclis' unit but is killed.  Magic buffs my main unit again.

Turn 4 HE

Teclis got 3 dice to work with, nothing happened.  The white lions kill the gorger.  Pheonix gaurd turn to face.

Turn 4 OK

Skragg charges Teclis and kills him!!!!!  THE ARCHMAGE OF THE ELVEN RACE WAS DISMEMBERED AND PLACED IN THE CAULDRON OF THE PROPHET TO GLORIFY THE MAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Ironguts charge and duke it out with phoenix guard.  Gang charge on the white lions and lots of stuff dies.  Other units move into position to finish.  Magic doesn't do much

Turn 5 HE

Combat continues.  Skragg kills some archer, but they hold due to steadfast.  Ironguts and Phoenix Guard duke it out again.  White lions wipe a lot of my stuff.

Turn 5 OK

The rest of the elves are killed in CC.

The Prophet of the Maw glorifies his god with an offering of pale elf flesh!!!  After all the pomp and ceremony of the offering, the ogres eat everything and go home.  :D

That was an awesome game, and Good bat rep. Look forward to the next one!
ogres are the boulder rolling down at you.  you can side step it, run away from it or blow it up before it gets to you... but you can never ignore it.
Good batrep, but I hate to point out that your Ironguts couldn't charge if Skragg charged alone from the unit. I just read it in the BRB in the Characters section. But, it's not a huge deal, as you looked as though you were going to win eitherway ;)
38 Gnobs! Almost on my 4th Pack of Trappers! Exciting

I thought they both could charge.  You learn something new every day.  But like you said, I don't think the outcome would have been much different.

Great report, how on earth did the Phoenix Guard miss the flank charge on the Iron guts or was your map a little off?  Do you think perhaps you wasted the sabretusks on the archers?

Was there a reason for not much terrain?

My spacing on the map wasn't perfect.  The sabertusks tied up the archers and allowed the mournfang to wreck them, so i don't think it was a waste.

We did D6 + 4 for terrain and rolled a 1.  2 forests, a fence, a wall, and a rock.
