The Iron Maws

original thread ↗

Okay, this will be second Ogre army...and technically my second Gnoblog(but I never really followed through with my first so we'll call this one the first "real" one). I played WHFB for a few years and even a little while after we got the new book but ended up quitting Warhammer due to personal/life reasons and selling off my Dwarfs, large Night Gobbo army, and my Ogres  :gcry:

I decided to restart all of my armies and luckily they have all been updated for the better(dwarfs remain to be seen at the moment) and Ogres are at the top of my list. Since I happen to finally have a super supportive girlfriend backing the hobby and just so happens my drinking buddies were interested in starting up WHFB(old 40K players) I am getting back into the fold full force.

We are starting up an escalation league(maybe warbands league leading to a full force) and luckily I have a head start and have amassed quite the force.

So far I have 3 battalions(the old school ones: 6 bulls, 4 ironguts, 4 leadbelchers, and 20+ gnoblars), 1 Tyrant(metal), 1 SM/Butcher(metal), 2 Limited Edition Bruisers(metal), 2 boxes of Mournfang Calvary, 1 Stonehorn/Thundertusk, 1 Giant, and 1 Ironblaster. It's a good start to my new army that leaves me with the following:

42 Ogre bodies(going to be a combination of Bulls, Ig's, Leadies and Maneaters)
60+ Gnoblars
4 MFC
1 Stonehorn/Thundertusk
1 Giant
1 Ironblaster
1 Tyrant
1 Bruiser/BSB(with pistols)
1 SM

Not bad if I say so myself, once I figure out the breakdown of models I will post it here. Going to round up proper containers first so I can clip, file, and clean everything and keep it organized. Pictures will follow of course and I shall try to update regularly.

It's going to be quite the undertaking Conogre, but once I change jobs here soon I'll only be working half the days of the year so that's plenty of hobby time for me.

So far I've broken down what I plan to do with all of my ogre bodies:
-I'm kit-bashing the Tyrant and one of the LE Bruisers so I'll end up with a Tyrant w/ a IF and the LE bruiser will become a pistol wielding maneater.
-The second LE bruiser will be magnetized to have a banner on his back as an option for a tyrant or bsb for a shooty army.
-9 of the 42 ogres will be maneaters. 3 w/ AHW, 2 w/ pistols(the third will be the converted LE Bruiser), and 3 w/ GW
-6 will be Leadbelchers w/ one belcher
-10 Ironguts w/ FC
-16 Bulls w/ 2 sets of FC
-1 final Ogre body will be turned into a butcher w/ leftover bits from the SM

That should give me 3 solid units of ogres, a unit of leadies, a good set of options for a maneater unit, and 4 characters(Tyrant, SM, Bruiser w/ pistol, and a butcher). Plus my MFC and rare options.

Sound good or should I rethink a few of my choices? I will pick up one of the new battalions later to bulk up units as needed.

Sounds like a solid lineup to me man! Super jelly that you have not just one but two LE bruisers.
Cant wait to see some paint start flying

Okay, after a lot of family stuff, potential job change, school, etc I finally have some updates!
I reclaimed my desk and dresser from all of my girlfriends stuff so I have room to work on all things warhammer. So here is some pictures of my collection, some of it I had left over from my past armies, the rest I've been steadily amassing.

This is what I have so far for my new Ogre army.

Turns out I actually have 52 ogres(for a combination of bulls, IGs, leadies, maneaters, etc) among everything else previously listed. The old 40k Orks box is full of bitz I've been acquiring for conversion purposes.

Here is a close up of my two Limited Edition Bruisers and one of my test ogres(still need to remove mold lines and fill gaps).

If anyone has any tips on getting rid of super glue so I can take apart one of the bruisers let me know.

Finally, here is the start to my Night Goblin army. About 120 spearmen, 30 archers, 30 spider riders, a bunch of warbosses, warboss on squig, 3 spear chukkas, squig lobba(count as rock lobba), fanatics and LE orc warbosses.

Also in the picture is a small dwarf throng(the skull pass set and a LE Gamesday slayer) and the LE Dwarf Book #888  :D But after reading it I'm still on the fence about keeping it all or selling it for profit.

Well that is it for show and tell today, getting my storage shelf/drawer things set up so I can start snipping models, filing mold lines and organizing everything. Yay!  :|
Finally set up my 3 dozen plastic little drawer/shelf(the ones used to keep screws and such in normally found in garages). Also ended up getting another stonehorn/thundertusk, an ironblaster, and golfag maneater for a price I couldn't refuse. Bought up a bunch of metal squigs and BfSP Goblin WB's w/ Squig(7) for my night goblin army.

Not much of a real update but I'm fairly certain my girlfriend got me the rest of the tools I need to get started modeling my ogre army for our anniversary. The updates should start flowing after that....hopefully before I end up with even more unopened boxes.

Next update will be the fluff The Iron Maws then actual pictures and stuff.
